We need a new thread to continue the very successful countdowns of 2013 and 2012.

And before anyone does the Hmm face (or Xmas Hmm face ) take a look at some of the 'Panic Threads' at the end of December when people were "Twitching" and stressing.

Organisation is key.

(I just need to find somewhere that'll work out how many days it is Grin )

Preparations are well under way in this house, I am a little bit scared when I go into the loft and see that the Christmas corner is now pretty much the whole Christmas loft Blush Got some amazing bargains in tescos yesterday so need to head back up there to hide those away.

I did an Easter tree last year but it was not a success (my oh said it looked like a tree in Chernobyl where the bunnies have gone to die) so I am on the lookout for a little white /neutral tree. A few years ago I got super lucky in paperchase and got some beautiful wooden sets of little bunnies, flowers and eggs really really cheap. Just never found anything to hang them on.

My Easter Tree is in the small bedroom, sitting a bit sadly and tattily in the bay window.
It needs another coat of paint (I've got some acrylic paint and brushes) I can do that before Easter.
I've got my decorations.
It won't have the same buzz as the Christmas Tree (though I might put that film "Hop" on the DVD when we do the tree)

Luckily, no bunnies will come to my tree to die Grin but I moved the guinea-pigs out of the bedroom before the tree came down from the loft, or they would've been judgey.

Grin at the depressed Easter trees. I bought ours on Ebay, this one but in white. It's a bit flimsy but will hopefully last a few years.

nickdrakeslovechild · 23/03/2014 21:07

I think I will bite the bullet and buy one, believe it or not I am really creative and arty except for this damn tree!

(Thumbs up)

I've already seen a few things I am going to buy for nieces/nephews. Couldn't get them the other day as I was laden down with shopping already.

One of the BHS stores are selling off Christmas items for ridiculous prices i.e. boxes of christmas candy canes for 37p Snowman cakes for pennies etc

275 and nine months to the big day Grin

Which means three months ago was Christmas Sad

I have had a very difficult week at work this week so I spent a happy hour (or two) last night on YouTube looking at other people's Christmas villages Grin.

I have decided to start one this year so last night I ordered a 'snow blanket' as the base. DP thinks I am nuts. Blush

caramelwaffle · 28/03/2014 18:12

Get in early Grin

Sorry to hear about your bad week.

Solo · 28/03/2014 18:30

Oooh! just seen this thread and so I'm putting my application in to join please!!

I bought loads of Boots sale stuff and put it all away.

Sleepingbunnies · 28/03/2014 18:33

I have already seen the bikes I want to buy my DDS for
Christmas :)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/03/2014 23:31
Grin Join in, join in

Boots had loads of 3 for 2 (I bought some bath smellies for Mothers Day ) I may well go back to stock up as well Grin

I see things my DC would like and from previous experience I think "Buy it when you see it" otherwise it won't be there when I go back.
And although the thought of Christmas Shopping is lovely, the reality is anything but.

You just need to hide the presents and remember where they are.
(Not so easy with bikes Grin Will the shop let you pre-order and collect in December sleeping ? )

Great! and yes to buy it when you see it. The times I've not done that and then not got it (whatever it is).
I'm going to try to knit and sew lots this year too for Christmas. Won't work for Ds who'll be 16 by then, but Dd will love it.

Guitargirl how do u make a Christmas village?

Guitargirl · 29/03/2014 13:07

50shades - I started a thread just before Christmas 2013 as I was umming and ahhiing about starting one, the thread is here.

There are some links in the thread to clips on YouTube showing villages that people have made. Some of them are totally mind-boggling. Mine is going to be much more low key - especially as my first purchase arrived this morning and I managed to break a bit of it getting it out of its box...Confused

Anyway, I thought I would get a few bits and bobs during the year and then by Christmas I would have a mini version of a village which I can add to each year.

nickdrakeslovechild · 29/03/2014 21:43

One of the things I've started doing for my LO is starting up a decoration collection. Our tree is full of miss matched baubles and trinkets we have picked up along the way from holidays etc, so now I am buying 2, 1 to go on our tree and 1 to go into a beautiful box for her when she has her first tree.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/03/2014 22:02

I bought a Christmas village when my DC were little. It had about 6-7 houses/church and a battery pack light (rather than candles- though the battery operated tealights and candles are brilliant and safe)
I put it on a corner shelf on the landing with some of that snow powder that you mix with water.

WRT decorations - we buy new ones every year too. Now I buy a box from Costco (glass ones, we always have a casualty Sad )
The DC used to choose one each every year but I won't let them take them away (I'm a bit Gollum~esque Blush don't touch the precious )
