We need a new thread to continue the very successful countdowns of 2013 and 2012.

And before anyone does the Hmm face (or Xmas Hmm face ) take a look at some of the 'Panic Threads' at the end of December when people were "Twitching" and stressing.

Organisation is key.

(I just need to find somewhere that'll work out how many days it is Grin )

Sorry for causing confusion!

BiddyPop · 19/08/2014 12:24

Or 18 weeks until Christmas Eve's eve! That sounds nearer Helga Grin

Smilesandpiles · 19/08/2014 15:32

Ooooooh, that's a good start to the day.

My driving instructor is teaching his son to be come an instructor too. I offered to take my lesson today with him teaching his son to teach me.

I'm not sure who was more stressed, me or him or his dad Grin. I got the lesson for free! £33 saved!

They are both lovely and his lad was nervous as hell, bless him.

Smilesandpiles · 19/08/2014 15:47

I put some of that oil from Sainsbruys in the bowl of pinecones last night. It's called Christmas Spice from TU.

The living room smells like Christmas. Tis lovely.

Helgathehairy · 19/08/2014 15:48

I was trying to work it out because I do a countdown to Christmas "look after yourself" challenge over on the style and beauty board. I kick it off with 120 days to go so people can get organised and then start with 100 days to go.

Just in case anyone might be interested.

Smilesandpiles · 19/08/2014 15:51

I'll have a look at that Helga.

BiddyPop · 19/08/2014 15:57

I'll be looking at S&B too now Grin - in case I have to lose enough weight to fit back into my full-length, down-filled coat because of the snow!! Wink

Smilesandpiles · 19/08/2014 15:59

A nightly reminder to moisturise me feet would be brilliant as they get very neglected during the winter months.

Helgathehairy · 19/08/2014 16:11

It will be another week before I kick things off. I'll post here when I've got the first post up.

Smilesandpiles · 19/08/2014 16:15

Great, thanks!

0pheliaBalls · 19/08/2014 17:29

caramel I went back to get more and they'd run out Sad

Oh and just got back from Tesco and THEY'VE GOT CHRISTMAS SNACKS IN! Those drums of Mini Cheddars with snowmen and things on, they're called 'Cheeseonal Mini Cheddars' Grin

Smilesandpiles · 19/08/2014 17:31

Fantasic!

Thanks for that. I can start getting stuff like that in and putting it somewhere...um...the loft?

caramelwaffle · 19/08/2014 20:02

Oh. That's not good: Can't get yo Co-op till Thursday.

I like the sound of the S&B thread Helga

Is anyone else wrapping their purchases as they go?

Smilesandpiles · 20/08/2014 09:11

I'll be wrapping what I've bought so far when the kids go back to school. I can't do it now for obvious reasons.

KnittedJimmyChoos · 20/08/2014 10:28

I will def be wrapping well before xmas even this year! Last year was awful....maybe leave a few token gifts to wrap.

BiddyPop · 20/08/2014 11:06

I don't wrap until late Nov/early Dec as the tape always comes undone. But I set myself up in the kitchen for about 3-4 nights in a row and just get stuck in after dinner. With my Christmas music on, and usually DH is out at least 2 of those nights. The vast bulk of it gets done this way, which is great. And it means the bags are ready to drop to relative locally or bring down "home" whenever we arrange it beforehand, and my parcels are ready to post before the final day too (I have 3 of my 5 siblings living overseas, and none of them are coming home this year, there's nearly always at least 1 stays abroad).

0pheliaBalls · 20/08/2014 17:55

Me and DH have a present wrapping night when we wrap DD'S presents on around the 22nd December. We have a couple of bottles of cava, nibbles and a Christmas film on in the background. We really look forward to it, it's really special 'us' time in the run up to Christmas. It turns something which can be a bit of a chore into a lovely Christmassy evening Smile

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/08/2014 18:21

This year I have bought Christmas bag and boxes.
I need a few packs of tissue paper and ribbons.
I'm going to use the largest boxes for the Christmas Eve Hampers and the largest bags for the stocking gifts (which I do wrap).

I usually do a Wrapping Night mid December, use the ironing board to set out the paper, cup of coffee and something like the Corrie Omnibus on.
I pick a day when I'm at home and the DC are at school to get it all done (in theory Grin )

BiddyPop · 21/08/2014 11:22

Ironing board - what a great idea!! A lot less bending and stooping!!

I'm going to go to the local posh Dept store at lunch and see if the Christmas stuff is in yet, it usually starts around now (the Irish version of Harrods or Selfridges - Brown Thomas).

18 weeks today!!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/08/2014 18:15

DD and I just watched "Lost Christmas" (Eddie Izzard film) aaaaaaahh 'tis our favourite Christmas film Smile

0pheliaBalls · 21/08/2014 19:09

Lost Christmas is beautiful Smile It reminds me of my favourite ever Christmas (2011). The book is lovely too. I have it on my Nook, I think I might read it over the weekend...

I've crumbled and bought some stocking fillers today. 2 watches, snaps and some other joke thing. Less than £5 all together. Grin

I need to go in the loft again to make a list of what stocking fillers I have bought.

Decided I'm going to buy those blanket with sleeves, gum ball machines, amazon vouchers, lego minecraft and DD needs an Ipod for her main present.
