We need a new thread to continue the very successful countdowns of 2013 and 2012.

And before anyone does the Hmm face (or Xmas Hmm face ) take a look at some of the 'Panic Threads' at the end of December when people were "Twitching" and stressing.

Organisation is key.

(I just need to find somewhere that'll work out how many days it is Grin )

BORED, BORED, BORED.

Saving up is crap. I want to go Christmas Shopping but I can't spend the money.

BiddyPop · 03/08/2014 16:17

Well, I am in heathrow waiting for he delayed second flight home. We found a Christmas shop in Banff on Saturday (was that yesterday or he day before?), and got nice decs for teacher present, my dad and dd for DH. I meant to go back around and grabs couple of beautiful glass icicles, but forgot.

We also realised yesterday that none of he "living away from home" siblings are willing to go home this year. Guess the entire family had enough of each other after 2 undiluted weeks together. So only my DSis who lives at home and the other who lives 25 mins away will be there.

Oh well. I can plan for. Nice one for us.

My local Home Bargains had Christmas gift wrap and cards in today ð???

I'll do my tree lights like that this year, it looks lovely. I'll have to buy more lights but that's just a good excuse to buy loads other decorations as well.

DH to.d the pils yesterday that we won't be down for Christmas, and suggested they come up in Boxing Day. They go to a local hotel, we bring them to the races, they see their precious eldest DGD on her birthday, and have some peace from the other 3 DGCs running feral next door to them. They haven't been upli,e that for about 5 years, so I think FILs response was "great!" And MIL is happy as she is not cooking for all the entire week.

Strangely, we haven't yet talked about DDs main present yet, we usually have that picked at least by now and DH then does the buying while he's overseas.

But I am about to start a 4 dy week until the end of January, so while I have a long list of things to accomplish on those Fridays free, it includes a plan to do more crafting. First job is to hem all around. Printed fleece panel I bought in Canada, as a Christmas blanket for dd to use from early Dec (she is constantly wrapped up. In throws in the sitting room anyway, especially I the mornings watching TV before we put in. An appearance - bad parent alert!).

And then hopefully, once I have lost a stone, I will get some other presents made too. Grin

Ooh Biddy sounds like fun but complicated Grin
Do your PIL stay in the hotel for the week ( good plan otherwise by Day Three..........)

Use your Fridays profitably, you will get loads done, love the fleece idea - could you make something like a Slanket for DD?
(I'm not in the least bit crafty with a needle, that's my DSis forte. I cook and decorate Grin )

Horrible deadline now out of the way so I am marking my place with you like-minded Christmas fans.

I may take a trip to Selfridges this weekend to visit their newly-opened Christmas shop have been reading so much about.

BiddyPop · 06/08/2014 22:51

70s, PIL come up on Boxing Day for about 3 days, and yes, stay in hotel as we no longer have a guest room most of he time (au pairs). Suits all. FIL gets to watch sky sports and have a pint in hotel bar. MIL can unwind with quiet cup of tea at various intervals. We meet them for dinner in hotel1 night so no cooking, cook for them another. And they spend a lot of time in our house but can come and go more freely than if resident.

Crafty, I am a bit basic but have a sewing machine and can try things. I have various plans for new baby gifts, aprons for BBQing DBros, pyjamas for dd and Dnephew, handbag for a DSis....I may just make a bunch of table mats for BIL and his DW and stop at that! No crafting done for the past 3 years, so lots of ideas and sources are kept, and my fabric stash has grown somewhat too, that I may manage to get stuck into!! Grin

Has anyone been on Studio site? They have loads of decorations reduced. I am determined to decorate the outside of our house this year - we were the only house in the street not to do it last year!! I don't want to go mad, just have some lights round the house/door.

Need to get them soon as my 3rd baby is arriving in three weeks and I have a feeling I won't have much time for my Christmas planning!

wellnowthenmardybum · 09/08/2014 11:19

Oh my gosh. I have found my spiritual home. Because dc's are older know, all they really want is money, so I have been saving for that. I need to get gifts for family and friends sorted.

wellnowthenmardybum · 09/08/2014 11:23

Oops posted too soon...... and in a fit of rage last year I threw out most off our tatty decorations so need to get them sorted, if anyone has any suggestions for nice (I.e not plasticy shite) decorations that would be appreciated.

We were away over the weekend, and I brought did to a toy shop on Friday, DH again on Saturday - and she focused on lego mostly, pointing to a few BIG sets. So that's probably what we'll get, might look online to see if we can get ny city or creator sets on special.

I got birthday present for DSis, and put that into my collection box yesterday. Which made me realise I need to update the spreadsheet, as I have a few more things added to the box but not the list at this stage.

I am ssooooooo copying MamaPain's list from the other thread, it covers most of what I need to think about. But as dd is in pil's for the week, it's a clear out week at home. In between going back to work this morning. Boo hoo!

nickdrakeslovechild · 11/08/2014 21:41

I've just come back from a week in the snowy mountains looking at all the Christmas trees and reindeer!

NickDrakesChild - where?? I am soo jealous!

I bought another present yesterday - the cookery specialist shop were selling off cake decorating templates, so I bought a full set for DSis1 who is big into making and decorating cakes. I'll add a couple of tubs of glisten powder closer to the time.

nickdrakeslovechild · 12/08/2014 10:20

It was fab, very top of the mountains in Switzerland.
