We need a new thread to continue the very successful countdowns of 2013 and 2012.

And before anyone does the Hmm face (or Xmas Hmm face ) take a look at some of the 'Panic Threads' at the end of December when people were "Twitching" and stressing.

Organisation is key.

(I just need to find somewhere that'll work out how many days it is Grin )

I'm very excited, for the first time ever I am super organised and I just know I will really enjoy this Christmas.

Last year I started crying in the kitchen, I was so stressed & fed up (long story) so this year I have been putting £10 a month away so that we can have Christmas lunch out in a restaurant, and I can spend the rest of the day visiting family and drinking bucks fizz

I have been putting £10 a month on my Sainsburys card for food shopping, so should have £120 by Christmas. And I have been saving what I can weekly for DD's presents & clothes and have £220 saved so far. (What doesn't get spent on her will be left for presents for everyone else)

Some weeks/months i'm leaving myself short, but I know it'll be so worth it once Christmas comes around.

Ratbagcatbag · 24/04/2014 09:33

Yey, good for you madefor. I love Christmas and save all year. It means when I get to December it's all done and I have spare cash over for going out. It feels do much more relaxed. :)

50shadesofknackered · 24/04/2014 15:21

I'm going to find and order my second building for my Christmas village today. I have waited till payday like a good girl and now I'm desperate looking forward to getting one! I'm very excited! I wonder if they''ll sell any on QVC Christmas in July, I can't remember if they did last year. I also thinking about booking the Christmas panto, it was almost sold out last year when I tried to book in August. Madefor it's our turn to have Christmas dinner at our house and I'm trying to convince dh, dc and dm that we should go out to eat, not having much luck mind you Sad

MadeForTVMovie · 24/04/2014 15:54

50 We've eaten out before, ok it's not as good as a home cooked Christmas dinner but it's nice to be waited on and it's stress free.

Last year my Mum came to us, invited inlaws and they declined, then they rang us on 18th December and said they where coming. I spent the run up to Christmas preparing get ahead gravy & stuffing, then found myself peeling, chopping etc all Christmas morning, I really missed just relaxing watching DD play with her toys because i's never hosted for so many people before. Christmas afternoon I was stuck in the kitchen stressed to death and I could hear MIL in the living room pretending to be posh infront of my Mum!!

I' ve hosted the last 2 years, not this year. My DD won't be young forever and I want to enjoy the magic, not be stuck in a kitchen. I'd prefer to eat out so we can choose a time, not have to worry about other people's time frames etc.

50shadesofknackered · 24/04/2014 16:37

Thats the thing Madefor the cooking and washing up take up such a big chunk of the day, it would be lovely to be waited on and not have to face the wreckage of the kitchen afterwards! I don't think I''ll get my way tbh but I''ll keep nagging trying Grin

nickdrakeslovechild · 24/04/2014 22:38

oooohhhh so excited, my local hobbycraft has an outlet section and its filled to the brim with Christmas goodies. Got some cracker insert kits, lots of christmas craft kits and some lovely foam snowmen to do projects with. I also got a few Easter bits. The woman on the till did give me a Hmm look. Grin Being this organised means I can spend december doing fun christmassy things instead of running around like a headless chicken. Organised is good.

Ratbagcatbag · 25/04/2014 07:43

I like to have main presents sorted by end of October so I can leisurely wrap presents with a glass of wine rather than massive stressed rush.
We appear to have hijacked the countdown thread in our excitement Grin

Looks at date................

25th April...........
That means we are eight months away.Smile
We are a third of the way.Grin

I passed this delightful piece of news to my 14yo. He did the Hmm face and asked "How long till school finishes"?

So missing the point DS

Ratbag the Countdown Thread is a Get On Board Thread.

No such thing as a Hi-Jack here, these threads have their own life. Wink
They go off on a tangent then drift back.
