What have your 8/9 year old DDs got to open under the tree?

Just being nosey really, got their stockings pretty much done, and their main present under the tree (it's a joint one). Other than that, they've got a couple of books, new outfit and shoes and a couple of other bits and pieces (can't remember what).
DS has got quite a lot of stuff, he's younger and much easier to buy for!
So I was wondering if you had any good ideas for any other things to get them for under the tree?

dd9 has mainly crafty bits and pieces, a couple of klutz making books, also a rainbow loom www.amazon.co.uk/Rainbow-Loom-Make-Your-Bracelet/dp/B00DMC6KAC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386800346&sr=8-1&keywords=rainbow+loom a little plastic loom that turns mini rubber bands into bracelets.

Also a tapefitti kit. Only little things but things that she should love and will keep her busy making things.

MuffCakes · 11/12/2013 22:33

Dd has got

Secret diary
Guess who
Baking decorations
Smellies
Books
2x ps3 games and ps3 move
2x DVDs
Poster
Makeup set
Remote control car
Clothes
Shoes
Onesie (she will get that Xmas eve)
Toblerone and big box of maltesers
Girl boxers (which will be her favourite present)
Make your own solar system kit
Hello kitty earrings

That actually looks a lot and that's only off the top of my head, I've been getting the twitch as well!

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 11/12/2013 22:47

Thanks for the ideas, they have got a few of the bits mentioned but they are in their stockings (rather large pillowcase style sacks though!). Both have the boxers in there, and some jewellery and books, onesies, makeup, smellies, new slippers and chocs and stuff. Think my main problem really is their bloody stockings being too big Confused

Actually just remembered DD2 was quite keen on robofish as I won't get real pets, but reluctant to get it as think the novelty factor will be fairly low. No. I won't get it.

What's a tapefetti kit?

THIS IS NOT THE TWITCH Grin

1D tickets, Furby, books, dancing stuff, iTunes voucher, pj's, toiletries, clothes

MuffCakes · 11/12/2013 22:51

It just doesn't look enough when put together. Maybe just one more present.. Just to bulk it out more. She was on about these mahooosive floor pillow pets.. And a jelly bean machine.

neolara · 11/12/2013 22:54

Lego. Build a remote controlled robot arm. Monopoly.

Iwaswatchingthat · 11/12/2013 22:55

Furby (last min request! V hard to find any left), Lego, secret safe diary, mosaic set, hoody, barbie, ermmmm I can't remember the rest.....I wrapped up so long ago!!!

Iwaswatchingthat · 11/12/2013 22:57

My dds both would like pillow pets. I keep looking, but just can't get past how hideous they are!! I know I will end up with two at some point though!!

paperlantern · 11/12/2013 22:58

books - "girls are best" sandi toksvig, graphic novel "Alice in wonderland" and other stuff.

parcel of stuff themed to her fav cartoon character - computer mousemat, tshirt keyring...

penguin themed bundle - club penguin membership and books, March of the penguins, puffle blanket

rnli membership

dvd player with high school musical trilogy

father Christmas has bought a selection of bits and bobs inc books, dvds, a cheap medical set and a few science museum kits.

sounds a lot but I love Christmas and normally do it over 6 months. most of the books and dvd are second hand

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 11/12/2013 23:01

We got the pillowpets last year - surprisingly they have been very very well loved and have had lots of use. I don't normally buy teddies as they have loads and they're pointless imo - clutter up the bed, fall down the side, look messy! but the Pillowpets (Hugglebuddies?) have seen lots of sleepover action. Do it!

Paperlantern, what does RNLI membership consist of?

Iwaswatchingthat · 11/12/2013 23:07

Oh no hallow I might have to buy some more roll to wrap them!! They seem huge! Could always keep them in the car I guess!!!

paperlantern · 11/12/2013 23:09

£7.50 for four magazines during the year, welcome pack and some other bits and bobs. I forget exactly.

looking for something that would encourage her reading (bright girl but she just isn't that bothered by it) and and get her thinking about the world.

AngryFeet · 11/12/2013 23:10

DD (9) has:-

New bike
Lego table that we made (shared with DS)
Furby Boom
Minecraft Lego
Art easel, paper and sketching pencils
Friendship bracelet making kit
Onesie
Slippers
Jacqueline Wilson annual
Horrible Histories DVDs

AngryFeet · 11/12/2013 23:11

Oh and just dance 2014 for the xbox

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 11/12/2013 23:15

All my ideas seem to be joint presents, would like to get them some other things that are personal to them.
But the new Just Dance has gone on my list, thanks AngryFeet.
They have got Minecraft Lego on its way from Grandad, looking forward to them opening that. Was a lot cheaper on the Lego website though, went straight to Amazon by default, then had a check on the Lego page and nearly fell off my chair Shock

DD is 9.

From us: Beanbag, SkullCandy Lowrider headphones, Despicable Me 2 DVD, PJs, Minions slippers, new set of karaoke CDs, second microphone for karaoke machine so I can join in, bingo game, Get Writing book.

From the guinea pigs: Personalised iPad case with their photo on Grin

From Santa (stocking): Skincare stuff, bath bombs, body sprays, hand cream, chocolate/sweets, couple of books, glitter hair spray, hair bands.

I am now twitching a bit about the stocking Confused .

paperlantern · 11/12/2013 23:18

I there's some second hand wii games in there too.

Should add dd is only just 8 Smile

TalkingToTheWoodlice · 11/12/2013 23:20

A 1960s typewriter. I think she'll love it but she may be utterly bemused.

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 11/12/2013 23:21

Thanks Paper, think I will look into the RNLI for the older one. She has been interested in the whole organisation for a while, and it was magnified after a trip to Lands End where they had a film about what they do. Actually, that whole holiday in Cornwall had her interested in them really, they had a talk at school about the RNLI and her teacher was telling me how informative she was about the subject at parents evening. What a great idea Thanks

She's also interested in Manga, might see if I can get her another book. Have to be a bit careful as a lot of Manga artwork involves naked ladies! The book she currently has has been a favourite for 2 years but maybe I can move on the next stage (the one before nudity!) and get some nice pens to go with it.

BeaWheesht · 11/12/2013 23:26

Oh oops totally misread OP thought it said ds ! Still, she might like similar things for some?

BeaWheesht · 11/12/2013 23:31

Re the robofish - amazon had them for £4.99 which I thought was reasonable ish and ds would use his in the bath rather than a bowl as a substitute per iyswim?

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 11/12/2013 23:39

That's okay Bea, they're both into quite unisex stuff anyway :)
Oh, and you've just reminded me that DD2 was angling after Battleships after she got a little one in a Happy Meal so I will add that to my order, thankyou!

DumSpiro I have recently 'donated' our karaoke machine to my DNiece. MIL bought it last year. My ear drums still haven't recovered Grin You are very brave.

Talking how lovely, how old is she? I have a DNiece who is 20 now and she got a typewriter for Christmas a couple of years ago. She has it in an attic flat now and sits there typing up stories - very cute :)
