Wives - what would you like for Christmas?

What would you like your husband to buy you for Christmas?

All ideas welcome - I'm sure I'm not the only husband struggling for ideas!

Thanks

I want a Cambridge Satchel Company bag.
I probably won't get one.
To be honest it doesn't matter what it is as long as its thoughtful and something she wouldn't buy for herself, despite wanting it - for example, last year we were skint as, so instead of buying me a Kenwood Chef (which I desperately wanted but couldn't justify as I have arms to mix cake batter with, right?) he spent hours and about £10 on parts to refurbish my mums 1970's Kenwood. I LOVE it and use it daily.

Cinnamoncookie · 01/12/2013 22:33

I would like :

A really good cordless drill (Dewalt, maybe, one with a small handle as my hands are ickle. But not a 'Ladies' one, as they have all the power of an ant winding a rubber band)
Most of the contents of Paperchase
A new bathroom
Some nice fluffy towels, and a way of stopping my washer turning them into cardboard
Clinique cosmetics

Astr0naut · 01/12/2013 22:35

Maybe he's having to ask on here cos he's already asked and she's said:"dunno really, nothing I really need at the moment. "

Have a budget of £10 each, then have fun finding something.

Disclaimer: I am a December baby, xmas is just overkill for me.

ElizabethBathory · 01/12/2013 23:08

Sorry, wtf is a ladies cordless drill cinammon?! Have I been making a mistake all these years by using our standard, not even slightly heavy or difficult to use black and decker? Lol @ant winding a rubber band Grin

NeveroddoreveN · 01/12/2013 23:11

Good rule of thumb is to take note of any booklets/catalogues delivered and have a look through for ideas. Ensure they are DW's and not DD's first however Grin

youretoastmildred · 01/12/2013 23:23

No that is a terrible rule of thumb. you can get on some mailing lists by walking past someone wearing the product with your eyes open. HOT SHOES for instance. God no don't judge what someone likes by the calalogues they get. what is that one - notonthehighstreet maybe? - where everything costs £250 and is covered in chipped grey-white paint? Big blocky letters saying EAT for the kitchen (and SHIT to put in the loo presumably), and that kind of thing? I think EVERYONE gets those now, if you don't a man comes round and harrasses you about it like the TV licence.

lisianthus · 01/12/2013 23:27

Heh cinnamon and elizabethbathory! The "Ladies" cordless drill sort of thing was what I was trying to avoid in my list above too.

They are usually pink or pastel coloured rubbish drills presumably thought up by someone who couldn't conceive of a woman doing actual DIY and so are just good for flower arranging as you don't need a drill for that. I want a Makita. My actual drill-with-a-cord is a Makita and it is brilliant.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 01/12/2013 23:35

4mm blue-purple tanzanite plain studs on white gold with screw backs.

The Heat on DVD

A lorryload of well rotted horse shit.

MissLurkalot · 01/12/2013 23:48

Joules Leycett Tan Handbag
Joules navy iphone flip cover

Abrahamlincolnsghost · 02/12/2013 01:20

Something that says (I) I have put some thought into this
(ii) I still love you
(iii) I see you as more than a Mum (housekeeper skivvy)

So eg. A photo book of photos of her (or both of you) old ones and new ones, cute ones and funny ones.

Your wedding video transferred to DVD, or her favourite romantic movie on Bluray.

whimsicalname · 02/12/2013 01:23

Time. All I want is time to enjoy the stuff I already have.

Abrahamlincolnsghost · 02/12/2013 01:34

And a thingy for finding keys. ( if she suffers from the where did I put my keys problem)

GhettoPrincess001 · 02/12/2013 01:34

I've asked for Brendan O'Carroll's biography. I got a laptop last year. Some years the budget is bigger, some years the wants are smaller. It just depends.

BadLad · 02/12/2013 02:19

I'm getting DW:

a new digital camera
a new watch

Those are things she asked for. We usually make Christmas presents things that we would like, but don't actually need, so it would seem like an indulgence to buy.

I'm also getting her:

a huge memory card, a case and a screen protector for her camera.
a compilation of the manga she likes.
a few bottles of a cocktail she likes.
a calendar - she is very interested in Friedrich Der Grosse, so I have done a google search for 365 pictures of him, and am getting a page-a-day note calendar made for her.

My advice - let her suggest the big things, and you choose the little things, be they practical things or accessories for the big things, or just things that you have noticed she likes.

Poppyinafield · 02/12/2013 02:55

A Motorised floor cleaning device and some kitchen appliances to aid in the food preparation chores would make an ideal present.

LovesBeingHereAgain · 02/12/2013 06:12

BadLad I bet she lives tge calendar tge most.

LovesBeingHereAgain · 02/12/2013 06:23

The press would love this thread, tge man hating vipers at their best!

Blueuggboots · 02/12/2013 07:24

I think it's great that you've take the time to ask other peoe for ideas, how thoughtful.

I'd love a weekend away in a cosy hotel (not necessarily stupidly expensive!) with childcare sorted.

Try and find something quirky that you think she would like.

Ignore all the people that have moaned about this thread - she's your wife, what else are YOU going to call her??! Some people are just too sensitive.
Have a great Christmas! Grin

quirrelquarrel · 02/12/2013 07:31

haven't read whole thread

tapdancing I take your point too Smile people have different priorities and states of mind

lovesbeing haven't seen any misandrists or vipers hanging around. if you mean me then you're wrong. I don't hate men thanks.

quirrelquarrel · 02/12/2013 07:34

oh but I would just like to say, OP I did see your very gracious response, thank you. I'm sure you'll find something great for your wife, enjoy Xmas :)

BanjoPlayingTiger · 02/12/2013 07:52

I think I would like:

Some new Dr Marten boots,
A large Lego kit that I dont have to share with the kids,
A trip to London to see some shows,

I most definitely do not want

Make up,
Handbags,
Spa days,
Albums aimed at middle aged women,
Or anything in pink for ladies

MOSagain · 02/12/2013 07:55

I would like a husband who cares about me enough to actually think about what I'd like as opposed to going into the first shop he finds on Christmas eve and buying the first thing he sees. Ditto for my birthday on boxing day

dappleton · 02/12/2013 08:37

OP, if it helps....
Best gifts I've received from DH have been:
Classic earrings - diamond or pearl studs - something that can be worn every day.
A magazine subscription
A years worth of facials - one a month on a gift voucher

KungFuBustle · 02/12/2013 09:11

The best gift DH ever got me was my digital radio. It's got faux cream leather on it. I had said my favorite thing about driving was my Radio and we didn't have one in the house.

This year I'm hoping for the War of The Worlds next gen Dvd and some double pointed needles so I can knit socks. I'm also hoping for some small silver hoops.

DH is getting A Hugh Laurie CD, Whisky, and the newest Wheel of Time book.

ChicksyBurtVonnugget · 02/12/2013 09:14

I would like:
Some crystals
Loads of Polaroid film
Afghan slippers
White sage smudge sticks
Some catbird or Pamela love jewellery
Studded grosgrained wide brim hat from The Kooples

Any one or two of these things would make ME happy, others might not be so impressed. It's such a personal thing, I hope you have lots of ideas. I grew up in muswell hill btw!
