What would you like your husband to buy you for Christmas?

All ideas welcome - I'm sure I'm not the only husband struggling for ideas!

Thanks

Good job!

Progress

Decided that books would be part of the presents. Got a bit techy and downloaded the Goodreads iPhone app. Then spent 30 mins scanning the barcodes of all 300 books she has read. Goodreads then comes up with suggestions she might like based on that. Just need to make sure they're not on her Kindle already.

Bought a selection box of Whittard Coffees in tin boxes. Also have a DVD she mentioned recently.

Probably add in a small luxury item and a spa session and I think she'll be happy.

THANKS ALL!

A greenhouse, some raspberry plants, some new books and time to read them in peace, a weekend away that I haven't booked.

A Kipling firefly rucksack
A Kipling purse
A micro-fleece (purple would be nice)
Some new trainers

Thank you

I'm happy with fairly simple things like a book to read, good quality toiletries which are a treat, chocolate and my favourite drink. I like to go out and buy my own clothes, so something like a voucher from my favourite shop. As said by others, a voucher for a spa/beauty treatment - some local salons will do this.

If you've got any ideas from us that you like but aren't sure, you could always ask her, ie would you like a new handbag for Xmas - she can give you a few ideas then, like colour, size.

I would like my husband to think of a tasteful, beautiful and thoughtful present on his own, without taking the kids shopping or putting his PA on the case.

Then it would have some meaning to it instead of the usual, last minute, 'oh fuck throw money at the problem' Christmas shopping that he usually does.

Bitter, moi?

Oh, and I will probably have to start thinking about his Christmas present to his poor long suffering PA because he won't jeffing think about it till she's gone off on holiday in a huff.

I draw the line at shopping for his family though. Which makes me a crap DIL and SIL.

Sorry seem to have gone of on a bit of a rant there……

MNHQ has this post listed as "Discussions of the day, Most active, Help a husband - Christmas present ideas?"

Does that exclude boyfriends, partners and same sex wives?

That's an outrage!

If I caught anyone making that mistake I would take them to task.

Ohh

Things DH has bought me in the past which I have loved include:

  • weekends away with babysitting arranged
  • theatre and meal day out with babysitting arranged
  • personal shopper voucher - appointment arranged plus money to spend on the clothes and of course the time to go
  • Kindle with lovely leather case
  • iPad with case
  • gorgeous leather handbag with gift receipt (which I didn't need to use)

Things I would like:

  • love the charity books box idea, to introduce me to new authors
  • time to myself but not organised time, so rather than a theatre day out, just vouchers for 12 days to myself throughout the year where I can say I want to go and do something whether it be go shopping, go to see a film, go to the gym, just anything. On my own. With no time limit to get back in time for putting the kids to bed or for dinner or anything. That would be so lovely.

His actual words were: "It's not a fking tiara, you daft b**d."
Which I thought was a bit strong.

I've had one of those thanks beast. You can't expect to show it off without being arrested and cautioned, like going shopping with it like you can a tiara. Or so the magistrates said. Smile
