What would you like your husband to buy you for Christmas?

All ideas welcome - I'm sure I'm not the only husband struggling for ideas!

Thanks

It has to be said my lovely blanket that I got last year from DP was chosen by DS aged 8. He took him shopping in JL - DP couldn't decide what to get me, and DS picked out the Orla Kiely stuff saying "Mummy likes that!"

BikeRunSki · 01/12/2013 16:00

A Links of London Sweetie necklace

As I have desired for about a decade

I will probably get a novelty gift from Asda, likely to involve themed cheese. If it doesn't, then it'll be good for next year's nursery Chrismas tombola.

maddy68 · 01/12/2013 16:00

I want a surprise weekend away :)

BikeRunSki · 01/12/2013 16:03

Lol at Salbertina

When I was a child my dad asked for "A Day of Peace" for his birthday. DM spent ages trying to find out who wrote it..,,

HenriettaChicken · 01/12/2013 16:03

Tickets to see Angela Lansbury in Blithe spirit.

Who's Jo Malone?

ElizabethBathory · 01/12/2013 16:03

I kind of like how this thread is a mixture of vitriolic anger and brilliant gift ideas :)

TiredDog · 01/12/2013 16:04

Since the OP is a husband it was just a throwaway thread title asking in a roundabout way for ideas for his wife? Surely no need to use it as a point scoring exercise to prove your feminist credentials?

I'd like a spa treat.

DameFanny · 01/12/2013 16:11

I'd like a little printer with a Chronodex subscription please.

But I've only mentioned it half a dozen times so it probably won't happen.

scottishmummy · 01/12/2013 16:17

Ok,so do you need to surprise your partner?why can't you ask her what she wants
I mean she presumably knows you'll buy gift, so ask her what she wants

MuswellHillDad · 01/12/2013 16:30

Wow!!

Thank you all for wonderful ideas and suggestions. I have plenty to think about and will surely be able to buy my wife some nice presents as a result.

THANKS

PS - sorry if my post caused offense. I hope you accept my apologies.

I'm getting an elevator comfort bridle for my horse. I emailed a link to my oh.

PancakesMum1 · 01/12/2013 16:33

Poor fella! Tryna do right by his lady! (Whatever she's called...) ;-)

Massage with offer of looking after kids as already suggested is perfect. But also something small and thoughtful too - has to be specific and personal to her. So, jewellery with her initial, framed photo of the two of you/kids, arty framed from a good holiday etc...

wordyBird · 01/12/2013 16:33

Anything that makes her feel loved, and thought about.
Good luck, Muswell

TiredDog · 01/12/2013 16:36

Now give us some ideas what husbands would want!!!!

(I haven't got one but I'm going to assume men and husbands are interchangeable in wants etc)

TiredDog · 01/12/2013 16:36
Wink

I've just spent a couple of minutes giggling away to myself at the likely reaction to a 'Bitches - what would you like for Christmas?' thread :o

Hem hem.

I would like an enormous box of chocolates. No fancy rubbish with salt and caramel, just milk chocolate yumminess. One of those gigantic Lindt balls would do.

I would also like to choose my own medical ID bracelet. I've seen some nice ones but wouldn't let DH choose on his own as no doubt he'd pick something that would make me look like an extra in TOWIE.

What I'm likely to get: a Debenhams voucher. I cannot stress enough how much I hate Debenhams. It took me 8 months to spend the last one.

Takingbackmonday · 01/12/2013 16:59

I have requested diamond pendant Grin and a puppy.

I would also like a weekend away.

LayMizzRarb · 01/12/2013 17:02

The OP obviously knows of Mumsnet, probably because his wife is a regular. He probably knows her username. At best, some of the replies on here have been recreational outrage; at worst some of them have been downright bitchy and nasty. I do hope his wife, if she replied on here, was kind.....

ElizabethBathory · 01/12/2013 17:07

AndHarry have you told him you don't like Debenhams? I had to ask my MIL to stop giving me Next vouchers. It was an awkward moment but totally worth it in the long run!

Honeysucklerose · 01/12/2013 17:08

How about Breakfast in Bed and a Hug! with lots of love !, oh and a Spa day voucher for her to be pampered.

AndHarry · 01/12/2013 17:09

He has been told repeatedly. I might have had a major small tantrum on the last occasion he gave me some Elizabeth Blush

stringbean · 01/12/2013 17:10

Well, my dh has just given me a large contribution to a Mulberry messenger bag, so I'm not expecting anything, but if I was, I'd like something a bit luxurious I wouldn't buy myself:

  • cashmere scarf or snood
  • nice handcream or body lotion - Clarins or similar
  • a really nice piece of jewellery - I never had an engagement ring, so something nice with a bit of sparkle would be lovely; doesn't need to be expensive, just something he's put some thought into choosing
  • a novel or two I haven't read but he thinks I'd like (time to read is a luxury for me!)

Last year, dh and some friends clubbed together and gave myself and three friends a voucher for afternoon tea at a lovely hotel; they looked after the kids and we had a day out shopping and then went for tea. I know not everyone is into 'experiences' but something I could share with some friends was lovely.

PavlovtheCat · 01/12/2013 17:12

a lie in.
a night in a hotel. on my own so I can sleep.
someone to teach ds to sleep in his own bed.
a spa day/weekend.
a new lens for my DSLR.
some new jeans.
a new table and chairs for the kitchen.

I expect I will get zero of those things. maybe the jeans.

namechange74 · 01/12/2013 17:14

Lagoonablue · 01/12/2013 17:15

Wrt to the gender issue.......there is rape, genital mutilation, abuse and murder going on all over the world. I am a feminist. I am a bit more upset about those things than a nice man trying to get a present for his wife. Seriously there are more important things to worry about in the scheme of things than use of language.

OP hope your wife likes her pressies.
