How many adults do you buy for and how much do you spend?

Between us, DH and I buy presents for:

Each other
My parents / PILs
My sister
His sister
Two grandads

We spend about £20 per head. Doesn't sound much each, but just realised that's £200!

I buy my parents a charity gift (£25) and make up a hamper of food (£30 ish). My best friend (£20) and my DB & SIL (£10 total).

That's it . No ILs. No Grandparents & don't buy for any other siblings or DH's siblings. I might buy myself something and tell my DH it is 'from him' can't stand his taste in presents.

I only buy for my mum. We buy for MIL and FIL but DH sorts them.

Me and my sister usually only buy each other's DC but they're buggering off on holiday this year so we're not bothering :).

Oh and DH.

There are 12 adults on my list other than DH.

I always say it is £10.00 per person - but I spend about £15 really - well on my mom I spend £40ish, and my Dad £50ish... because I do the shopping and I like my family more than Dhs luckily so does Dh

We do not buy for adults,by agreement made when so many children arrived in our families.

I hate this. Generally I can't afford to buy for all the adults I should buy for so I make fudge/chutney/something similar but never plan ahead & always have a hectic December!

Technically should also do DP's 2 aunts & gran but we generally just send them a kid craft present.

So that's 15 adults plus 3 that I generally get away with spending v little on - but 18 overall.

Four in my extended family, four in DHS extended family.

Plus each other and our two young adult children and two young teenage nephews of DH.

£30ish a gift for extended family so around £300 on them. £150 on each of our kids and £100 or so on each other.

I buy for my mum and dad, 2 sisters, 1 brother and their partners, dh Nan and 2 aunts. Ive bought a joint present for each couple and got a stocking filler for the men, and a handmade bracelet for the women. Dh has bought his Nan a Christmas jumper with Rudolf on

6 - mum, dad, brother, sister and my 2 nans. I have spent £99 this year.

My husbands family do not celebrate Christmas so we don't buy anything for them.

However neither are very well, so I'll not begrudge them this year.

£200 with chocolates and bits my family get because they come here and are very generous to DDs.

But I only have a few DCs to worry about

We do a Secret Santa with PIL, BIL1 and wife,Bil2 and wife and SIL and husband so we only buy 2 £50 presents.

I buy for my parents and their partners and my grand parents, only spend about £10 (max) on each.

Don't buy for ANY adults!

Just my dc and my nieces, xmas is for kids not adults!

I buy/make for 30+ adults. Only little bits, like a book or some homemade chutney. Still adds up.

Thank goodness no one has started having children except for me

I try and try to get the adults to knock it all on the head, but I'm the only one who thinks it's silly. I'm asked by them all, usually in October, to name something I want so they can buy it - it's embarrassing and pointless. Great for children to get nice surprises at Christmas, awkward for adults to receive things they essentially ordered.

It's only a handful of adults but it's still a pain to coordinate every year.

Oh, and we spend £20-£50 depending how much they spend on us.

Usually buy for mother, but don't buy for other adults in the family if they have DC, because I buy for the DC instead. Until they have DC, I buy for nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters.

If I bought for all of my sisters, BIL's, aunts and uncles, cousins, grandmothers and grandfathers, it would cost me so much, the DC would have to go without to be able to afford it.

With my dad and his wife and the family on her side, (lots of adults and a few children) adults draw an adult's name and buy a present for them, all buy presents for children.

Have - at last - agreed with DH family no presents for adults (he has 4 siblings all with partners, was costing a fortune), so just presents for children.

I will buy a present for my dad, mum, their partners, my sister and her partner. I think we will also agree no presents for sis & partner next year & focus on children.

DH and I just bought an expensive kitchen gadget as combined anniversary/christmas present so no additional presents there.

There are no children in the family yet, once we have kids the Grandparents (Great-Grandparents by then) will get token gifts at best I imagine.
