Have I gone mad, or is this an old toy those born in 70's would know?

I just happened to see this today and something deep stirred within me, I am sure I had one, and I loved its smell and its feet and I was fascinated with the combo of soft toy but also doll....

Chickaboo here. Except mine were a lot smaller and had arms that stuck straight out and you clipped them to things. I had loads, really loved them.

Am off to google :)

miffybun73 · 11/11/2013 11:58

I had one, they were called Chic a Boo. I remember the tiny bib and the fact that they could suck their thumb :)

spiderlight · 11/11/2013 12:04

I had one! They were called Chicaboo.

Beccawoo · 11/11/2013 12:06

I had one of those in the early 80s. They also made a mini resurgence in the early 90s I think. X

spiderlight · 11/11/2013 12:06

These were the clip-on ones.

Beccawoo · 11/11/2013 12:07

I am now feeling the urge to buy my 2 year old daughter one for Christmas!

spider

Oh my goodness, again, wow, wow, what a memory, I remember that one more than the other one I had.

The only thing is the 20cm one seems quite small.

I had a brown mnonkey one with a long tail. I want him now but I bet my mum threw him out :(

WowserBowser · 11/11/2013 12:13

I have one! Well had one.

Last week i received a series of photos from DB of Chick a boo boo (as i know him) in the bin, on a log burner, having his damaged foot pulled :(

My DNeice has now rescued him. She loves him and the last photo was of him wrapped up in a blanket in a moses basket.

Jacksterbear · 11/11/2013 12:14

I had the clip-on ones, and the thumb-sucking one - which ironically my mum bought me as a bribe/reward for stopping sucking my thumb. Ahhhhh happy memories.

Wowser

Wiping something from my eye. Smile

i remember them, didn't have one though. Was born in the 70s.

They have them in Smyths Toystore. Just sayin'.

pinkmagic1 · 11/11/2013 12:19

I had a clip on one, born late 70's

Fenton · 11/11/2013 12:33

I saw this thread this morning and have now dug out my Suck-a-Thumb Bear, - a picture of him is now in my Photos on my profile.

He is one of a tiny handful of belongings I have from my childhood, my brother bought him for me one Christmas, in the late 70's I think (?)

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 11/11/2013 12:56

Fenton AWwwwwwwwww.

Oh yes, Miffyboo. It was Chic a Boo rather than Chicaboo.

I HAD this one (autocorrect, grrrrrrrrrrr)

TurboTheChicken · 11/11/2013 14:17

I've just ordered one for DD for Christmas.

And two outfits.

I blame you OP!

Catscantlaugh · 11/11/2013 14:25

Yes! I had one! So nostalgic now.
And Poochie Dog- I really wanted one but never got one or a My Little Pony. I have a vague recollection of a type of tiny baby doll that came in a matchbook type box too.

TooWetToWoo · 11/11/2013 14:34

Oh I had one of those! Called it Chicky Boo Boo, feeling all nostalgic now!

MacaYoniandCheese · 11/11/2013 16:59

Ooh! I remember those matchbox babies!
