I just happened to see this today and something deep stirred within me, I am sure I had one, and I loved its smell and its feet and I was fascinated with the combo of soft toy but also doll....

MrsMot · 10/11/2013 20:58

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/11/2013 20:58

Ooh I didn't have one but I remember something similar

(But it reminds me of the creepy little bear from "Bo-Selecta" so I wouldn't ) Grin

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 10/11/2013 20:58

I was born in 1980. I still have mine. It does suck its thumb and mine is/was called Cheekaboo. It's white but v similar.

MurderOfGoths · 10/11/2013 20:58

I'm sure I had one, remember chewing on it's feet.

holycowwhatnow · 10/11/2013 20:59

I remember those. I was born in 1970 and considered myself too old for them whenever they came out but I secretly wanted one!

devonsmummy · 10/11/2013 20:59

I had one of these it was called Chicaboo

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 10/11/2013 20:59

First released 1974 according to wiki, then there was a TV series in the 80's.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 10/11/2013 21:00

Actually, when I was in Hong Kong on Kowloon Island, there was a shop full of these Monchichi's. They were all dressed up in different outfits, it was near Halloween time and they had a few dressed as pumpkins, witches etc.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 10/11/2013 21:01

Google tells me it was a chickaboo!

Longdistance · 10/11/2013 21:02

My grandmother in Hungary got us these when we were kids.

nicky2512 · 10/11/2013 21:03

Wow, I still have mine!!! Upstairs in DDs bedroom (somewhere). I loved it. Santa left me one in the late 70's (doesn't that sound so long ago?) Might get myself a new one.

Longdistance · 10/11/2013 21:04

I think in the Uk they were called Cheekaboo (sp?), but in Hungary they were Monchichi's like in the Debenhams description.

Goatmint · 10/11/2013 21:06

Chickaboo! I had one of those, and had toys for him and all sorts.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 10/11/2013 21:08

How strange, I almost want to cry.

I don't remember mine directly.

I was never a soft toy person, and it was that combo that got me.

MacaYoniandCheese · 10/11/2013 21:09

Aaaaagh! It's a Monchichi! I wanted one soooooooo badly but my Mum would not cave because she thought they were 'tacky' (ditto Poochie dogs, plastic dress-up shoes and those mannequin heads that you could makeover). Must admit now; she did have a point.

MacaYoniandCheese · 10/11/2013 21:12

Not sure how I remember them though because, due to being only 29, they were well before my time was born in 1976.

WaitMonkeysDoppelganger · 10/11/2013 21:12

They were Chickaboos weren't they? I have a boy and a girl (with a pink bow) somewhere in a box

YonilyDevotedToYou · 10/11/2013 21:14

I had a boy one called Kiki!
