Have I gone mad, or is this an old toy those born in 70's would know?

I just happened to see this today and something deep stirred within me, I am sure I had one, and I loved its smell and its feet and I was fascinated with the combo of soft toy but also doll....

Catscantlaugh · 11/11/2013 17:08

MacaYoni so glad someone else remembers them and that they weren't a crazy childhood dream Grin

CredulousThicko · 11/11/2013 17:09

I'm a 1970's baby and i've still got mine :)

could never remember what they were called though.

SarahPercyAndBill · 11/11/2013 17:14

OMG, Monchichi! I started humming the song

ProfYaffle · 11/11/2013 17:14

Oh God, they FREAKED me right out as a child. Plastic faces and fur, just wrong, wrong, wrong diddly wrong wrong.

NothingMoreScaryThanAHairy · 11/11/2013 17:18

I had one.

3 of them were waiting in the back of our car before a holiday journey. Dsis's and I spent the next 15 mins arguing over who had the one with the bow! Grin DM then sewed two bows to the remaining 2 for a quiet life...

Mine had a thumb like a dummy that stuck in it's mouth. I may even still have it in the loft!

HoobleDooble · 11/11/2013 17:26

I'm a 70s kid and still have mine too! A boy and a girl with a couple of outfits and furniture (a rocking horse and a rocking chair if I remember correctly), I think they're in DS's bedroom somewhere.

spicynaknik · 11/11/2013 17:32

I'm a child of the 70s and I still have had one of these and it was my bestest favourite thing that I still had as my teddy until I was 25 16 or so. It went totally bald, its bow and tuft of hair fell off and the dog chewed its foot, but it was my precious.

I have also got myself the DC some cute Japanese ones, dressed in raccoon suits and rabbits suits.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 11/11/2013 20:01

spicey

I am sure I remember baldness too.
I am going to get mine tomorrow, I hope I am not disappointed by its side. not that it matters to me, its for dd

i had one. Had being the operative word. I accidentally dropped it down the well at Conwy Castle. Probably still there floating in the depths.

TwoStepsBeyond · 11/11/2013 20:57

I had a few of these, including a giant 2 ft tall one. I call Dd chickaboo as a NN!

TawdryTatou · 12/11/2013 12:58

Furry and cuddly, we love you.

ZenOfPetals · 12/11/2013 13:57

I was a child in the 70s, loved my Monchichi AND still have it! It is in a box in the attic cause its head fell off and all these little beads came out. I loved it too much!

ZenOfPetals · 12/11/2013 16:04

Monchichi, monchichi
Oh, so soft and cuddly!

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 12/11/2013 16:23

Picked mine up today. Grin

It feels better somehow to have one back in the house. Confused

Have got a mini white clip on one, which was in a dressing table in my old bedroom at my granny's house...she kept it all as it was till she died.

Found it together with various sets of knickers and hankies, and some pens and some Wombles talc Sad

TheArticFunky · 12/11/2013 17:30

Yes they were all the rage when I was about 8 or 9 (born 1972 ). I got one on EBay a few years back.

SarahPercyAndBill · 12/11/2013 18:34

Aw spicy, it was your velveteen rabbit and you loved it real. Smile

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 12/11/2013 18:38

Spirograph
Boxing Robots game (where their heads popped up)
Mousetrap
Mousey Mousey
Toy typewriters
Record players in the carry-box
Rubber stamps
Post office sets
Buckeroo
Huggy Bear

Goldendandelion · 13/11/2013 20:19

I had one of them until I left her in the garden centre toilet. I was heartbroken at the time. I'm 39 now and still feel sad when I think about it.

Elsiequadrille · 13/11/2013 21:15

I still have Huggy Bear, nicename! Odd thing it is.
