Pillow Pets. Any of your dc have them and love them or are they a gimmick?

Just that really. Keep looking at them as an option for 5yo DD1.

My children have the sheep ones and also large reindeer ones , they are lovely .

4yoniD · 29/10/2013 20:41

DD1 has the unicorn and uses it as a pillow every night. Fecking thing half filled the washing machine and took ages to dry. Had to pay someone to fit a zip (I didn't want to attempt my first zip on such a beloved toy!) - at least I can wash it easier now.

Who makes a pillow for a kid with a non-removable cover?

NationMcKinley · 29/10/2013 20:44

My boys bloody love them! They also have the blanket pet things that look like one of those animal skins with the head still attached Hmm. They love them too

LynetteScavo · 29/10/2013 20:47

I've bought DD one for Christmas, because she has been sucked in by their advertising.

Blanket pets???...I'll have to get her one of those too? Shock

4yoni I was just reading this thread as I was wondering about getting these for the dc and they're getting lots of positive reviews on this thread - but I did wonder - how do people keep them clean?

Sounds like they are washable - will they go in the tumble drier too?

And you said you put a zip in it - does this mean that there is an inner that is relatively easy to remove already or did they have to sort that out for you too?

Sorry for all the questions!

Meglet · 29/10/2013 21:38

The dc's go on and on and on about pillow pets. They do look cute I have to say.

I keep getting the bloody theme tune stuck in my head...."it's a pillow!...it's a pet!....it's a PILLOW PET". aagghhh!

4yoniD · 30/10/2013 22:26

zipzap the inside - at least after a few washes - was loose filling, a bit like lumps of slightly fraying cotton wool. It all got chucked out, except the bit in the head which got sewn in. I replaced it with an old cot-bed pillow which is just a little too large - it just needs a bit of tugging to get it to lay flat. It isn't ideal, but the best I can do since DD1 loves it so bloody much. Never tried tumble drying it.

My DD is 12 and she has a monkey and loves it.

I got it from Home Bargains last year - it was £5 instead of £15 (it's a real one!) - yes a genuine bargain!

shoppingbagsundereyes · 31/10/2013 11:10

Re scooby doo ones. Argos have them two for £30. Save you a tenner

NaturalBaby · 01/11/2013 08:25

Stompeez is on our list as well!
I found some massive pillow pets in a garden centre yesterday, 20% off but ds3 was being difficult to didn't get them. They had jungle animals and farm animals and I'm pretty sure the sign said £9 something, and they were huge! I wasn't sure about getting such big ones, could do with something that would fit in the car.

Now if Argos could do a 3 for 2 I'd be sorted with 3 dc's!

ThePortlyPinUp · 01/11/2013 08:29

Mine don't have pillow pets but love their snuggleuppits, they are 9,6 and 5 and like to cuddle up on the sofa with them when watching films :)

ABitterPIL · 01/11/2013 08:38

The generic ones are 10 in argos too

wilsk002 · 01/11/2013 09:24

We have numerous ones in our house hold and everyone uses them (not just the kids) would definitely recommend.

ZombeeHatcher · 01/11/2013 09:38

We have some and the kids do like them, but I don't!

If they try and use them as pillows they look damn uncomfortable and get very sweaty sleeping on them too. And the whole washing thing has me a bit Confused they don't really seem built for regular washing, so the thought of them being slept on regularly is a bit grim (especially given the whole sweaty head thing). Finally they are just too bulky to travel with easily, so they're not even brilliant at that while pyjama case thing.

Can't wait until I can dispose of them without protest!

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 01/11/2013 10:24

We have 2, one proper one and one cheap one. They are both loved and used, but not for sleeping on as they seem to make them really sweaty. And beware of the cheap ones, the filling is really lumpy and the pillow has needed stitching up 3 times in different places.
I would definitely recommend them as they are still in almost daily use by the Dds a year on, and

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 01/11/2013 10:25

Sorry!
And they are 8 and 9, but I would pay the extra for the actual Huggle Buddy Pillow Pets.

NaturalBaby · 05/11/2013 13:48

Actually, I think the snuggle uppits look like they're more what we're after - puppet, blanket and pillow pet thingy all in one, and looks like they'll fit in the car seat with dc's better.

maybe3x · 07/11/2013 10:58

I picked up 2 pillow pet type pillows in Wilkinson this week they were half price at £7.50 each and are lovely and soft and a good size.

cocoplops · 07/11/2013 11:02

My 5yo DS loves his monkey one!

mrsyattering · 07/11/2013 11:05

My dc's got them last Christmas and have slept with them every night since, even taking them to GP's for sleep overs. They have the unicorn and the bee. They LOVE them!
