The Tom and Jerry Nutcracker Tale DVD is £3.10 at Play.com at the moment.

It's a full length film rather than lots of short episodes, and is basically Tom and Jerry acting out the tale of the nutcracker to the famous Tchaikovsky music. DS1 and DS2 (8&5) both love it - and will happily watch it several times.

It's christmassy without being an actual santa/presents/etc christmas movie, and it's a good one to have on in the background as the music is nice (no speaking to follow), just the odd bit of tom and jerry sounds stuck on top. Plus there's lots of their typical slapstick cartoon capers that are just funny regardless of whether or not you're watching the whole thing intently or just catching a snatch of it.

Agree on Tom and Jerry the Nutcracker. We recorded it last Christmas and my two sons who are 4 and 5 still watch it every week.
It's a lovely film and also has Tuffy the cute little mouse in which is a bonus.

I can happily say that i have now finished my Christmas shopping. Had 21 people to buy for so had to start early.
I never recieved my gift of murad though or the magazine that went with it.

Livvy - my sainsburys had a large happyland fairy set for £27.50 (half price). Quite a lot of them left too.

shash there was a baby anabelle bathtime in the sainsbury's sale for £22. Trying to ignore ds' s requests for one as we have 3 other dolls which don't get played with.

livvy I saw happy land fairy cottage and zoo at Sainsburys. Lots of Peppa pig beanies £3.32 and some that made a noise when you squeezed them. Peppa pig puzzles and bath letters. Ferris wheel and some figures. Didn't note all the prices as DCs not into Peppa Pig.

Just reserved a half price Skylanders duplo set from Argos for my nephew & a novelty angry birds thing for ds in their clearance section

I've been so tempted by some of the monster high offers for neice but I don't know what she's already got.

well, i braved sainsburys. to be honest there isnt a lot for older kids, even kids my girls ages (8 and 7) but i got a few bits. got doc mcstuffins and lambie cuddles for £6.65 each (the girls love it) a lego book for ds1 at 5.99, couple of small iron man bits for ds2 and some moshi monsters. still spent £58 but then won £40 on a scratchcard so cant complain

yabbadabba My dc are the same - that's why I thought that as it was so cheap it was worth investing in the DVD - we can use it in the car as well as at home and if it accidentally on purpose gets deleted when there is a film I want to record and there's no space on the sky plus box againas it's full of kids stuff - well it won't be the end of the world

I am feeling very daft and naive because they came today and they are in fact wooden bracelets with a wooden picture of a watch!!! I am contact the seller to return because I don't have a clue what to do with 6 wooden pretend watches

to bealola for the H&M tip. Decided against the Xmas apron for me & DD but they are lovely. I bought instead a lovely cream jumper and a star print jersey dress for DD.

Just nipped to Sainsburys. Not that impressed but there was a lot of stocking filler (Tobar stuff) half price so worth visiting if needing those little 'bits.' They also had lucky bags of Angry Birds characters for 99p.

They did have a couple of Nerf guns (and extra bullets) half price. Picked up the Elite Firestrike Blaster half price for £3.99 - will come in as a party gift if I don't give it to one of the boys. Available at Amazon for £5, so still a small saving.

The only other thing worth mentioning is the annuals £4 each including Angry Birds and Minecraft. I picked up the Minecraft Beginners Guide for £4 too which is actually much better than the annual.
