So far we have got :

DSD (11) From us :
A tv (free from in-laws) and a freeview box (free from my parents).
Clothes (i buy half the years clothes for christmas and the other half for birthdays, so it looks like they have loads of presents but really its mainly clothes).
Chocolates.
Various stocking fillers and smaller presents like books/cds and a toothbrush (extra special character one, unlike the rest of the toothbrush changes throughout the year which are usually multipack ones).
GPs are getting her a dvd player, and my parents are getting her a mobile phone which is needed since she broke her foot a few months back and couldnt contact anyone for ages because she couldnt remember her mums or my numbers.

She'll get more from her mums side of the family.

DS1 (8) From us :
A pro scooter to do tricks on, and some ramps to practice tricks on.
Clothes (as above).
Chocolates.
2 cheap DS games (2nd hand)
Various stocking fillers/smaller presents, including toothbrush.
GPs, i have no idea and my parents are getting him some Skylander's.

He'll get more from his dads side of teh family too.

DS2 (2.10 at christmas) From us:
Crayola travel art desk/easel thing and a big peppa pig art set.
Car transporter lorry (2 for £20 in asda).
Baby laptop (half price in argos).
Thomas teh tank engine book with musical keyboard.
Clothes (as above).
Toolbox (sainburys half price toy sale)
Chocolates.
Various other small pressies/stocking fillers including toothbrush.

I set a budget of around £100 a child, sometimes on may come to more, sometimes one comes to less, depends on what they want, but i try to make sure that they all have the same amount of presents, especially the older 2 because they like to open them at the same time.

TafferineWheel · 05/11/2012 15:37

Lush bath bombs
Yard of jelly beans
Watch
Torch

all for both

DD (6)
Bracelet

Scooby Doo DVD
Moshi Sticker book
Loads of Moshi crap
MP3 player
Just Imagine book
Notebooks

DS (9)
Football annuals
Football record book
MIB3 DVD

Pen set
Notebooks

Big present is a shared family present - hopefully the new Wii U if we can get one.

FireOverBabylon · 05/11/2012 15:55

DS (3) had a cooker 2 years ago, a balance bike last Christmas and a scooter for his birthday so he's only gettting small stuff this year. My mum has bought him his winter coat and my dad is getting him some Chuggington figures and track (it sounds like his wife's overcome her fear of online shopping so there may be loads of this).

We're getting him:

books - story books and stocking filler non-fiction books from the Book People
a microwave bean bag thing for warming his bed
A mug
puzzle
couple of board games (pop up pirate etc)
craft threading boards
Fuzzy felts
Some cooking bits for when we do baking
Gruffalo DVD box set
Christmas colouring book / crayons

Looking at it now, it doesn't look like he's having a lot. I have some Playmobil stashed away until he's older, as he doesn't play with it a lot yet, but I may fish some out to boost his presents as it looks a bit stingy! He'll be chuffed to bits with what he gets though.

ThePlEWhoLovedMe · 05/11/2012 19:12

Some really organised people on this thread .. Anyone fancy doing my shopping ?

So far I have brought zilch !

AndiMac · 05/11/2012 19:21

I'm only organised because I've been watching the bargainous bargain threads here in the Christmas topic and picking up ideas as I read! Easy enough to shop when it's one click away and on sale!

MrsBovary · 05/11/2012 19:30

Ooh is there a Hobbit annual, Tafferine? I shall have to look out for that.

I've only bought some stocking fillers so far (I still haven't made lists of what to buy), and those only because they're things needing international shipping. I have some things to make too, still (dolls and felt crowns).

So,
miniature kewpie dolls called Sonny Angels
Japanese candy making kits (bento, sushi etc)
Adventure Time toys
Vocaloid themed gifts for the older children

Main presents (for the younger children), we're buying a wooden ark which converts into a pirate ship.

FreelanceMama · 05/11/2012 19:43

Our son will be 11months at Christmas. He's having one present from us - a wooden activity cube from Mothercare (8 quid in the sale), and in his stocking: bubbles, an alphabet frieze, a book, and two percussion toys (total 10 quid).

His Dad and I were both brought up having one main present from our parents e.g. One year I got a bird table. And a stocking, sometimes with larger presents that were too big to fit e.g. A Care Bear (showing my age!)
so we're working along the same lines.

Trying to steer his relatives to go steady and preferably opt for books and clothes. I suggested they buy him their favourite childhood storybook.

His birthday is end of January and he will be getting some alphabet blocks and some pyjamas.

DD is 8. Her main present is Jessie J concert tickets for early in the new year.

I have a huge stock pile of books (I run the school book club which is just far too tempting for me!), a magic set and a couple of pairs of funky knee high socks from 'Claire's'.

Currently on the list (mine rather than hers, although some things she's mentioned:

Blendy Pens

Will probably get her a couple of DVD's, chocs/sweets, hair bits and bobs and she's desperately in need of some new clothes but that may have to happen before Christmas.

Nicknamegrief · 15/11/2012 18:27

Very useful thread as I really needed to write down what we have got our children. We move in two weeks and a lot is hidden away, I am due in 7 weeks so its busy.

Son 9yo (birthday just before Christmas)

Lego x wing and horrible histories box set of books

Son 6yo

Hideout kit with torch, walkie talkies (proper ones that work at a 5 k range), tarpaulin, binoculars.

Daughter 3yo

Easel (thank you ikea) and various art bits and pieces.

Stockings (I think I have gone to town with these this year).

Each have a book (story) and a sticker book.

New winter hat and thermal socks (this may sound odd but we did this last year and they loved it). We had to hide the knee length thermal socks in the summer as the boys wore them in 30 degree heat with shorts!

Boys have a Lego mini figure packet and daughter has a cheerleader baton type sparkly thing.

Also 9yo has an old fashioned joke kit (whoopie cushion, nail in finger type thing- am going to regret doing this). 6yo has a fingerprint set and 3yo daughter has a little stool with a hand painted princess type thing on.

They'll also get cartons of juice, packets of raisins, chocolate lolly pops and a packet of whatever ghastly cereal they have noticed in the supermarket (Father Christmas' elves watch them if they come with mummy, behave and then pick up the packet they liked the most). I may well need bigger stockings. But given they have moved 3 times in the last two years, getting another sibling etc etc i feel like being a little indulgent.

IvanaHumpalotCountDracula · 15/11/2012 18:30

Does anyone mind if I ask a question? I would post in chat, but some might get twitchy if I ask Christmas question in November:-)

DS (6.5yrs) wants Skylanders for Christmas. Which console/system (Playstation, XBox, Kinex etc...) would be best either for Skylanders or for general use. I've never bought or played on one of the systems before .

FOURBOYSUNDER6 · 15/11/2012 18:30

Less is more
Don't want spoilt brats
Each child has one main toy eg Jessie from toy story. Books a board game craft stuff activity book little toy like train for train set
They will be thrilled and appreciative

RedGreenRouge · 15/11/2012 18:35

So far I have bought a plastic toy castle secondhand for dd2 (3) and some toy cars for her stocking. Dd1 is harder so I have bought her a couple of books, some small playmobil sets and a piggy bank.

Hulababy · 15/11/2012 18:35

DD (10) - looking at getting her an iPad Mini and some Skull Candy headphones. She'll then have some stocking filler/little bits - things like a quill and ink (she loves harry Potter), craft... PILs have got her a tennis net and some bits. Not sure on rest yet.
