Thanking you muchly.

The Jolly Christmas Postman arrived this morning and is so very luffly. I need more like this. I need 24 books so I can wrap them all individually and put them all out on Dec 1st and my DS's can take turns choosing each night.

I have a few others but nowhere near enough. My boys are 4 and 7 ( though 5 and 8 by Christmas!).

What are your favourites, pretty please.

About present giving in wintertime - but I don't think has any direct reference to christmas. Absolutely lovely and cute.

Panta Claus (from the Aliens Love Underpants series). My 4yo dd loves it! Aliens and santa, what more could you want!

OvO · 06/09/2012 23:12

Thank you!

I already have Stickman, Aliens Love Panta Claus, One Snowy Night, How Santa Really Works, a Robert Sabuda one (though think I'll get at least one more of his), and Lucy and Tom's Christmas. Great minds think alike! Grin

But I will go ahunting for those mentioned that I haven't got.

We love Santa Claus by Rod Green. Not a story but a lovely book that 'explains' some of the how Santa works.

It is worth waiting and keeping an eye on the Book People/Red House as they often do sets of Christmas books 10 for £10 in the run up to Christmas

We start reading Barefoot's Fireside Stories on 30th Nov after calendars are hung, which lasts the first week or so.

Night before Christmas is a must and Christmas Wishes is written in the same style and is a nice book.

Raymond Briggs, Snowman and Father Christmas are other musts.

poeia · 08/09/2012 09:49

Father Christmas Needs a Wee is popular with my two, quite funny.
How about the Mr Men - Mr Christmas
Not sure if these are too young, should be ok for your second child...

and Sam's Snowflake by Gillian Shields is gorgeous about a bear waiting for Dad to come home for christmas. We have the £5.99 paperback copy not showing as available on amazon though.

Little Reindeer

This is a really lovely book, beautiful illustrations. My almost 5 yr old loves this book and I have been reading it to him regularly for 2 years.

Heartbeep · 09/09/2012 05:25

Bear Stays Up is a nice little story.

Night before Christmas is a must, also Usborne do a Christmas book, no story but lots of spot the...'santa's boots, Xmas puds, frost fairies' that kind of thing.

Good thread, got a few ordered for DD.

jetstar · 09/09/2012 06:50

Usborne do a touch & feel Nativity which is good.
Last year we also bought a nativity sticker book which tells the story and you add the stickers to each page.
Little Robin Red Vest by Jan Fearnley is one of my favourites
Jingle Bells by Nick Butterworth
This is the star by Joyce Dunbar

I am a teacher and used to buy myself a new Christmas story every year, so I have quite a few! I will look them out when I can get into DD's room and post some more suggestions. Also thinking about counting how many I have and copying your idea Grin

tippytap · 09/09/2012 22:10

Hi,

What about Santa's Twin by Dean Koontz or The Magic of Christmas?

SomebodySaveMe · 09/09/2012 22:11

Stealing this idea Grin

stealthsquiggle · 09/09/2012 22:15

I was about to recommend a Winters tale but I see IHeartDusty beat me to it.

charade · 09/09/2012 22:22

lion, the unicorn and me

Fairly religious nativity story (as if there is such a thing as a non religious nativity story)

There isn't a 'see inside' on Amazon but you can read the beginning here

stealthsquiggle · 09/09/2012 22:27

twenty five december lane

SucksFake · 09/09/2012 22:33

The lovely staff in my local library let my DC keep this book when it was withdrawn from their stock.

A nativity story from a different angle. Lovely book with gorgeous illustrations.
