Thanking you muchly.

The Jolly Christmas Postman arrived this morning and is so very luffly. I need more like this. I need 24 books so I can wrap them all individually and put them all out on Dec 1st and my DS's can take turns choosing each night.

I have a few others but nowhere near enough. My boys are 4 and 7 ( though 5 and 8 by Christmas!).

What are your favourites, pretty please.

Oooo, great idea Iwish. I could guide them to choose that one first. Can just imagine the excitement on opening that. Thank you. Grin

And of course thanks again to everyone adding to this thread. No way will I struggle to get 24 now.

I too love this idea. Thanks, OP.

MissPricklePants · 16/07/2012 21:56

Ok, my mind is made up! I am stealing this idea! Thanks OP.

MaggotMummy · 16/07/2012 22:09

Just got 24 lined up on the amazon wish list .. Fab idea thank you, so much better than a chocolate advent calendar!
Now all I need are big coloured envelopes...

LaurieBlueBell · 17/07/2012 13:11

Also stealing thanks OvO.

FayKnights · 17/07/2012 13:19

Lovely idea, I'm borrowing it too!
How about this one Christmas Book
Its a scratch and sniff book and each page has a Christmassy smell, oranges, hot chocolate etc, its gorgeous.

PoppyWearer · 17/07/2012 13:44

Hmm, I think I already have 24 Christmas books for kids Blush up in the loft (many bought from charity shops, I should add). But could turn them into a book advent calendar for DCs this year....nice idea OP!

There's one by JR Tolkein. It's a book of letters that he wrote to his children from father christmas

The best Christmas present in the world by Michael morpurgo

FayKnights · 17/07/2012 19:08

We have the JR Tolkein one, its excellent.

Aaaaah, Christmas Books.

My DC have "A Letter to Santa" and "Night Before Christmas"
Both from M&S.

Even though they are 12.6 and 10 now, it's compulsary to read NBC on Christmas Eve. Grin

I have a book from my childhood called Mole Family's Christmas by Russell Hoban. It seems to be out of print, but there are a few copies on Ebay......though I just had a heart attack looking on Amazon to see people selling copies for ridiculous money!

hihohiho · 19/07/2012 10:56

I have an amazing advent calendar that I got in TK Maxx - it has 25 (or maybe 24) small Hardback Christmas books - 1 for each day.

It's stunning and culminates with the night before Christmas.

hihohiho · 19/07/2012 10:58

[[http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0899429696/ref=redir_mdp_mobile it's not this one but it's similar)

When I was younger I received a copy of A Christmas Carol with beautiful, evocative colour illustrations. Even if the story sometimes used language that went whooshing over my head, I still loved it and still have it now. Just the picture of the Ghost of Christmas Present in his splendour is enough to have me feeling festive :)

Whatevertheweather · 19/07/2012 11:08

Little Rabbits Christmas by Harry Horse is lovely

Santa's Workshop is a great hardback book with moving pieces Smile

What a fab idea!

I also bought Christmas wrapping paper for them all already. Blush I do like to be organised! Grin

Can I just bump this again as there's lots more people posting in here now. Grin

I still need 10 books, I didn't realise how hard it would be to get 24 books! There's plenty of Santa books out there but I want really lovely ones, ones that will be read every year iykwim.

Some posted on the thread so far I haven't been able to get [sadface] but I have got lots and a few more still on my eBay list to get.

But pleeeeeeeease tell me your favourites. Thank you, spank you.

How Santa Really works is fab, especially the pop-up.
There's a great pop-up of The Nutcracker too, and some Robert Sabuda pop ups (well much more than just pop ups, paper engineering) including Night Before Christmas.

Kelly281 · 06/09/2012 21:27

The Spirit of Christmas by Nancy Tillman, her books are always beautifully illustrated.
