What's the most mundane stocking gift in your house?

Ours have lots of stocking gifts, but most are things they'd have needed anyway. Can anyone beat toothbrushes, shampoo and flannels? They get very excited whatever they unwrap!

Father Christmas did bring the DCs toothbrushes last year.

I think the mundane highlight for this year is a resupply of pens, crayons, rubbers etc (for restocking school pencil cases, so basic items split down from Poundland multipacks) and new combs all round.

cece · 24/12/2011 08:59

Toothbrushes and toothpaste here. Grin

and new socks...

bicycle clips?

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 24/12/2011 09:01

pants and some maths workbooks Grin

Molehillmountain · 24/12/2011 09:02

Bicycle clips-fantastic! Dh and I debated putting new Ikea chalks and whiteboard pens in stockings - of course they're going in! Cupcake cases went in last year-in my defence they were pretty ones!

mrsjay · 24/12/2011 09:23

lol@ nappy cream a really rubbish calender dh picked up somewhere (probs the poundshop) im sure my dds would rather have had the Doctor who one but hey ho , my dd got cupcake cases last year she got a cupcake book she loved them and they were pink and purple so she was happy ,

SixtyFootDoll · 24/12/2011 09:33

A can of coke, they don't normally have fizzy drinks!

whatdoiknowanyway · 24/12/2011 09:42

Yaktrax so DD won't slip in snow when she goes back to uni like she did last year (ok there probably will be no snow now this year...)

cece · 24/12/2011 09:44

can of coke - brilliant - will add that to my last min shop...

Also got to get a pack of moshi monster cards but they aren't mundane are they?

mrsjay · 24/12/2011 09:45

Im not Boasting but dd1 is getting a car well more of a run around old bangerGrin but she has a tin of antifreeze and screenwash in her stocking as she hasnt really got a stocking this year .

mrsjay · 24/12/2011 09:46

no moshi monster cards arnt mundane , I went to a shop that sold mountain dew last year for dd1 I travelled 40 miles to get a few cans of it ,

BertieBotts · 24/12/2011 09:49

Toothbrush, yes. And I am debating putting in the pack of Cadbury Animals I found, BBE May 2011 Xmas Blush

Am annoyed as they had run out of chocolate coins by the time I went to get some :( so DS has a chocolate medallion instead - I'm really disappointed, he's been going on about chocolate coins all year!

HollyGoDroopy · 24/12/2011 09:54

Bertie if you have a HomeBargains nearby they have loads of coins still in stock.

I have toothbrushes and toothpaste in ours they are spongebob and hello kitty ones though, so a little exciting.

Meglet · 24/12/2011 09:56

Toothbrushes, socks, pants, pens in the dc's stockings.

They also have choc coins which they will be able to EAT before breakfast time.

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 24/12/2011 09:57

We have toothbrushes, toothpaste, Matey bubble bath and facecloths in ours this year. The younger 3 get novelty ones, pfb got an ordinary toothbrush and a tube of heavy duty "Just brush your bloody teeth please son" paste.

FetchezLaVache · 24/12/2011 10:05

Not a stocking filler, but actual wrapped presents from MIL to DH have included OXO cubes, a tin of red salmon and a box of Lemsip Max Strength.

BertieBotts · 24/12/2011 10:06

Can't drive. DP will be asleep until 4 or 5ish. Yesterday was my last chance :) Never mind!

GirlWithALlamaTattoo · 24/12/2011 10:07
