Online supermarket deliveries - how have they fared this year?

Who have you used, did they get there on time and did you get any subs/missing items?

Thought it would be useful to compare - in prep for next year.

dd had loads of people shouting "you've ruined our christmas !" in her face!!!!!!

katz · 24/12/2011 14:36

GGirl - are you in south Yorkshire? Just wondering if the problem is nationwide or local. My waitrose said it was an IT problem and the delivery system was down. I woud have gone and collected if they'd phoe me to tell me, it took me ringing them to ask where it was to say they were running late.

ggirl · 24/12/2011 14:39

no , new forest
dd said same , IT problem

BastedTurkey · 24/12/2011 14:42

Katz what a nightmare for you.

katz · 24/12/2011 14:43

Eek! Not good for waitrose then. I got the impression on the phone this morning that they had no idea if shopping would be delivered today, I'm guessing not then!

Hulababy · 24/12/2011 20:00

Trouble is that this is not the first year they have failed either. Last two years they have failed to deliver my order and I have had to go in and collect. And both times ended up with compensation.

ggirl, how awful for your dd - the manager should have been on the customer service desk in those circumstances I think. Can't believe they were asked to come in and then told to shop for themselves - they're not idiots, they know how to use a bloody supermarket!

Katz, Hula - so Waitrose have let one or both of you down three years running? That's pretty impressive. And not in a good way.

Jajas - plenty of turkey sarnies at your house! Xmas Grin

Hulababy · 24/12/2011 20:23

Yesm same branch. Think they let Katz down last two years too - she had to go in and collect too iirr. I put it down to the snow last couple of years although other deliveries did manage to get through. It's way I bit the bullet this year and paid for Ocado.

Interested to see that some people didn't have to pay for Christmas week deliveries though - why is that? Is it because they pay for a year up front rather than monthly? Which seems unfair anyway, seeing as we are still tied in for the year regardless.

tribpot · 24/12/2011 20:34

I'm baffled by that bit Hula - as I was one who didn't pay for a Christmas week delivery. When did you book yours? Mine literally was at the end of October. I pay for my delivery pass monthly. (Well, I should say paid as I still don't intend to keep on with Ocado despite them pulling it out of the bag today).

vinegarpuss · 24/12/2011 20:38

Waitrose - new store here so their 1st year,we chose to do a pick up - their system crashed so this caused a few problems BUT they upgraded our turkey to GIANT Bronze and our ham to piggin enormous - then gave us £50 back too... all because we couldnt get a few tartlets and a chocolate log. Thats what I call customer service

Hulababy · 24/12/2011 20:41

End of October I think here too; when I got the email through anyway and was weeks ago!

Just checked and yes def paid £9.99. Have been a delivery pass member since Sept 2009.

However, just read terms & conditions to get a free Christmas delivery you have to have joined delivery pass before May 2009.

Asda here, had the 8-10 slot last night, arrived at 8.30 only three subs, own brand cranberry sauce, got named for same price, small branston pickle, got large for same price and no bucks fizz (no sub) all in all, v happy! Sorry that not everyone has been so lucky.

tribpot · 24/12/2011 21:14

Hula - no way, how sneaky. I now feel like I will be letting them win if I relinquish my Delivery Pass!

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 24/12/2011 21:52

I paid £6.99 for mine, only joined delivery pass this year, was on the 22nd though, might have been £9.99 for 23/24th but I missed those ones.

That is awful about Waitrose, your poor DD GGirl.
