Just thought if we all say what our dc's have asked for we can make a list for people who are struggling to know what to buy?

DD1 7 - Not sure what to get her yet but has asked for a fish tank and lego Ninja's.

DD2 5- wants Moshling zoo ds game and leappad.

Yes rachel234, but everyone's different, innit

My way or the highway not a valuable life lesson for DC either

WhatWouldLeoDo · 16/11/2011 18:53

Rachel234, do you think that people who buy more than 2 presents aren't comfortable financially, don't value and appreciate their presents or use them and aren't very good at imaginative play? Do you also think that they don't take their children to museums, concerts etc and give them worthwhile and fun experiences?

mrsmplus3 · 16/11/2011 19:51

i want to state clearly that this is slightly more than usual but its only because i got everything from the half price sale in sainsburys. i am also fearing i have built a rod for my own back. i will need to say that santa has been extra kind for some reason this year and NEVER to expect it again!!! (kids willl be terrified)

DS1 15:
new COD3 xbox game, xbox gold membership renewal, the inbetweeners movie, teenage survival cook book (my evil genius plan to prepare him for making some dinners sometime soon), new aftershave, a jigsaw, some H&M vouchers for clothes and lots of sweets and chocolate for stocking.

DS2 6:
lego city harbour, lego halo stuff, lego pirates of carribean stuff, a remote controlled car, a keyboard, a gun, cars 2 dvd, toy story jigsaw, diary of wimpy kids books, connect 4 and lots of sweets and chocolate for stocking.

DD1 3:
dolls house, furniture and people, aerial and cinderella princess dolls, pink lego, a dolls head to do her hair, a hair kit, make up case, princess jigsaw, elefun game, tangled dvd and .... yes you guessed it - lots of sweets and chocolate for stocking.

that is a disgusting amount isnt it? im a bit ashamed. but they are not spoiled all year, its their only time (apart from their birthday). eek. digging a hole here.

rachel234 · 16/11/2011 22:18

Whatwould, no I do not think that at all. I just think that by giving children less it makes them appreciate more what they have. And no, I'm not saying that those who give loads of presents don't also take their kids to museums, concerts, restaurants... I'm simply saying that I personally think that our children benefit more from these experiences than more 'things'.

mrsmplus3 · 16/11/2011 22:29

rachel i knew you werent saying that, you have a good point.

i do spoil my kids at christmas but i know thats because i was always a bit disappointed on my christmas mornings and i just dont ever want my kids to feel that. its just one of my things. its probably uncalled for, cause im sure they know i love them more than anything in the world. i just feel christmas morning is my chance to get them more than they would ever dream of asking for and i love to see their surprised happy faces. its a one off morning.
who knows.... well it hasnt ruined my 15yr old so far, hes a lovely boy/guy.

night for now.

Taffeta · 17/11/2011 10:29

I've tried to go a little less mad on presents this year, so we could go to a panto and have some trips out to enjoy some time together (I was recently made redundant)

DS1 is 8, and asked for an iPod Nano and the new Connect 4 game
He has a Nano
A phone similar to a Blackberry (but not nearly so expensive!)
The Connect 4 game (apparently you flip the counters into a tray or something?!)
A NERF gun
NERF ammo vest thingy
Star Wars annual
A remote controlled truck
A couple of small Lego sets, Lego figures and smells for his stocking

DS2 is 3.10 and asked for the Imaginext Batcave.
He has the batcave
A garage and cars (fab deal from ELC!)
Imaginext police HQ
Imaginext police car
Knights and baddies for his Tower of Doom
Jigsaws
An annual (can't remember which one!) and some other little bits
Arty/drawing things for his stocking
Little NERF gun

We have an Elf box arrives on Christmas Eve with their new PJ's, festive DVD, Christmas book etc etc so they get that before bedtime.

I'll no doubt have my usual (irrational) panic on Christmas Eve that I haven't bought enough!

starfleet · 17/11/2011 11:28

DS is 11 and has asked for:-

Touch screen phone to replace the cheapo cast off one he has now
Goalkeeper gloves
Man Utd Goalkeeper Kit
Outnumbered box set
A couple of DVD's and an i-tunes voucher

Lucy88 · 17/11/2011 14:11

My DS is 6 and he has asked for FIFA 2012 for the Wii, a Manchester City Goalie kit and Hotwheels Crash, Crash Cross.

Father Christmas will be bringing him these, aswell as:

Manchester City tv and DVD player
Couple of Wii games
Couple of DS games
Horrid Henry Books
Pop party CD
Manchester City Monopoly
Manchester City annual
Manchester City boot bag
Shin pads and goalie gloves
Couple of board games

Tikkabillajive · 17/11/2011 19:58

DD is 6.5 and has asked for some earmuffs. She is getting a doll, a stocking full of goodies (including earmuffs!) and some books.

DS is nearly 4 and he has asked for:

A flower that you press a button on and it squirts out water and ice and you can dance around with it

A toy rock that you press a button on and it can dance around and speak

A toy bottom that you press a button on and it does real poos Hmm

A donkey, a hamster, a guinea pig, some mice and a dragon (although on second thoughts he decided NOT a dragon as it would probably eat the other animals)

He is getting a Playmobil dragon's dungeon, stocking and books.

MorallyBankrupt · 17/11/2011 20:32

Tikka, have you considered the doggy doo game? It sounds right up your sons street Grin

MorallyBankrupt · 17/11/2011 20:34

this

Tikkabillajive · 17/11/2011 20:46

OMG he would SO love that! Although I'm not sure his current scatalogical phase needs much encouragement!

pinkpetrol · 17/11/2011 20:59

I just asked my 7 yr old to write a list as I am not inspired this year. She wrote:-
Donuts?!
School trousers
Horse riding lessons ( unlikely given where we live)
More skinny jeans ( no she has lots)
My own bedroom ( no chance)
Visit to Lapland and Disney land ( peppa pig world is more likely)
A car
An iPhone
So donuts and school trousers it is!

melodyangel · 17/11/2011 21:04

DS1 (17) and DS2 (7) ,and DH and I, all want scalexctic. One pressie nice and easy to wrap.

MorallyBankrupt · 17/11/2011 21:10

Tikka I think you should get it! Hey, if you can't get away with loving poo as a child, when can you?! Grin

MorallyBankrupt · 17/11/2011 21:12

Oh and it's cheaper on the Smyths website Wink

mollythetortoise · 17/11/2011 21:30

From F.Christmas
DD (8) is getting
rip stick
back pack for school
diary of a wimpy kid cabin fever book
DOAWK - DVD of films 1 and 2
Malory towers boxset
some hello kitty pants
chocs
satsuma

DS(4)
castle and some knights to go with it
cars 2 DVD
book selection (about 4 I reckon)
some Cars 2 pants
chocs
satsuma
moshi monsters (the pack of two for £1.99)

and from me and dad
some generic lego to SHARE (save on arguments as to whom the door/windows bits belong to!)

probably will spend £120 each approx but less than last year when I bought DD a £150 DS (and then got her other bits too).

I agree it is easy to spend little when they are small and presents get less but MUCH more expensive as they get older.

CinnamonStar · 17/11/2011 21:32

DD1 will be 4. She is getting a scooter, a pretty dress to wear to DD2s christening, a lunchbox (as she will be having packed lunches at Preschool from January), and, "from DD2" a DVD.

Plus a stocking from Father Christmas - chocolate coins, satsuma, book, sticker book, hair clips, small playmobil or Sylvanian family set.

DD2 will be 6 months. She is getting her Christening dress, and a winter coat/snowsuit (current one already getting a bit tight but hopefully will last another month). I'll also let DD1 choose a small gift for her sister - no idea what she will pick!

Plus a stocking from Father Christmas - banana, rice cakes or similar, sippy cup, plate and bowl, and a pack of colourful bodysuits. She doesn't need any toys as she has all DD1s hand-me-downs.

Tikkabillajive · 17/11/2011 22:05

Morally I'm not convinced - it looks fun but the reviews on Amazon are terrible! And it's so expensive - I might stretch to a whoopee cushion or a trick dog poo in his stocking instead!

MorallyBankrupt · 17/11/2011 22:17

There is a dog poo key ring on amazon!

Tikkabillajive · 17/11/2011 22:35

You really want me to embrace the poo don't you Morally?
