Just thought if we all say what our dc's have asked for we can make a list for people who are struggling to know what to buy?

DD1 7 - Not sure what to get her yet but has asked for a fish tank and lego Ninja's.

DD2 5- wants Moshling zoo ds game and leappad.

ds 5.5 has a load of spy stuff (3 for 2 thank you toysrus) is after just about everything in the argos book, but his faves are a DS, hogworts lego & a spy watch, if I can source the ds reasonably he may have the lego otherwise he'll have one or the other.

ds 4 months - has a few small toys (mostly for DS1 as he'll wonder why DS2 hasn't had father xmas visit him)

TheLimeFairy · 26/10/2011 22:00

DS-5 City Lego Police Boat

DD-4 Playmobil swimming pool

DS-3 WOW toys camper van

DS-2 WOW toys boat

They also all get a stocking with a DVD, chocolate, book, Lego mini figure, torch and a few other bits and pieces

Ormirian · 26/10/2011 22:04

Quite bella! What do the if the only thing your child wants costs £200? Buy nothing? It's easy to spend little when they are little. WHen DS2 was a year old he got an inflatable T-Rex for a tenner and that was all.

oldsilverbullet · 26/10/2011 22:12

DS (6 on Christmas Day) hasn't asked for anything yet [gulp] at least I have put a wrist watch on the list - which I promised for when he learned to tell the time - there will be more but obviously I have to think of birthday too [double gulp]

He does have a stocking which I normally put related things in ie one year it was art and craft materials, another it was a pencil case and lots of things to put in it. He will also get a satsuma and some chocolate money in this stocking [hgrin]

And I always do a new set of PJs for him on Christmas Eve.

But I am stumped as to the main birthday and crimble presents....

Bellavita · 26/10/2011 22:13

thanks Orm Grin

DS1 would not be getting an iMac if he didn't do music. Last year he got a new guitar - he has lessons and had outgrown the guitar he had. So these are not frivolous presents as such.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 26/10/2011 22:22

The Chaotic4 must be weird.

Not one of them has mentioned Christmas yet.

Confused
piratecaaaaaaaaaghhht · 26/10/2011 22:33

dd is 9. has asked for ( and this is all from Father Xmas)

Moshi Monster Treehouse (still to buy)
Sonic the hedgehog dvd set (still to buy)
Books (still to buy)

and i asked her what she'd like mum to buy and she would love an MP3 player.

I have got so far (from FC)

Casdon Oven/cooker
Real Life cuddly Tiger Cub
Alpha and Omega DVD
Take That Poster
Moshi Monsters Slap Watch
Whiteboard/chalk board with groovy pens
Sonic the Hedgehog Moneybank
Trilby hat (ala Mark Owen!)
Jacqueline Wilson Annual

CointreauVersial · 26/10/2011 22:40

DS1 (12) wants the new Arsenal Away strip and a new phone.
DD1 (10) hasn't asked for anything but will be getting a speaker dock for her iPod Touch, and possibly some clothes.
DD2 (8) will be getting a new platform bed with desk/sofa underneath and a bedroom make-over to go with it. She has talked about nothing else for months!

gaelicsheep · 26/10/2011 22:42

I'm sorry, 20 presents, just from their parents?! What on earth?

My DS hasn't even mentioned Christmas yet, but he'll get 2, maximum three things from us/his sister. Maybe 5 things in his stocking and then a present from grandparents, aunt, uncle and that's pretty much it. And he does very well too as far as I can see.

DD is only one and I haven't a clue what to get her as she has all DS's toys on the go. Probably something a bit more girly.

Can't believe what some people are spending. Sorry if that makes me sound like a Scrooge!

Bellavita · 26/10/2011 22:47

See this is why threads like this cause Shock

Tis horses for courses really...

Majority of you have little ones.. WAIT TILL YOU HAVE TEENS!!!

Coffeeisking · 26/10/2011 22:49

DD (4) Has asked for every single toy that is made in the world! [hhmm]

DS (7) Only wants a K'Nex Rollercoaster we couldnt get him last year! [hsmile]

One of them will be disappointed [hgrin]

Doitnicelyplease · 26/10/2011 22:50

DD is 3.2 and does not really get 'asking for presents' yet, though she does remember Christmas from last year and loves opening presents.

We have got her:
Plan Toys dollhouse (2nd hand)
Thomas train track/buildings to extend what she has already (2nd hand)
Couple of Duplo sets (officially from gparents)

She will also get a game we can all play together, some books and stocking stuff (stickers, zhuzhu pet, felt set, various plastic animals, slinky, toothbrush, chocolates, satsuma etc)

Plus whatever family give her...I feel she is getting spoiled a bit this year but I did get some great bargains, normally I would subscribe to getting her 1 big gift from us plus stocking from FC.

simpson · 26/10/2011 22:55

DS (6) is getting a leappad, rollerblades and a bunky (light for his bunk bed)

DD (3) has specifically asked for a barbie, a hugglebuddy and a puzzle.

My parents are also getting her a bike.

gaelicsheep · 26/10/2011 22:55

It's not the value so much Bellavita - I totally understand that this increases as they get older - as the sheer amount of "stuff". Some of the lists on here would see mine through two Christmases and at least one birthday as well.

leftmydignityatthedoor · 26/10/2011 23:04

Gaelicsheep - my dd is the same age - in tesco just now they have megablocks pink farms for a tenner. Quite good as a 'look what santa brought' for the older kids to see but doesn't cost much!

gaelicsheep · 26/10/2011 23:05

Ooh, thanks for the tip. Smile

leftmydignityatthedoor · 26/10/2011 23:08

Bought one myself cos although I'd finished buying for dd I suddenly realised ds had been there when I bought it all and would know santa hadn't brought it :( he's only 4, 5 at xmas so I want to get as many santa xmases as pos!)

twinklytroll · 27/10/2011 01:39

Onlywants I doubt many kids have specifically asked for things for Christmss. If my daughter asked me directly for presents especially two months before the big day she would get short thrift . I just know she wants three books, which I think is about right in terms of presents.

twinklytroll · 27/10/2011 01:41

I may live to eat my words but my dd is ten and has never asked for an expensive present ever.

insanityscratching · 27/10/2011 08:15

Ds 16 will get a new laptop because his current one is on its last legs although he hasn't asked for anything.

Dd 8 has circled half the Argos catalogue Hmm she will get books, crafts, ds game, dvd, and one piece of plastic tat must have item from the Argos catalogueGrin

They both love their stockings though so have fun filling them with things they need and little extras and nonsense.

itspeanutbutterjellytime · 27/10/2011 08:44

DS is 1 and will be getting

TOLO dinosaur set
TOLO train set
Happyland rocket set
Fisher Price bounce and spin zebra
Duplo set
Toy Story alien go glow pal
Clothes and bits from Gap (I love their stuff but it's expensive, so I get a big lot at Christmas that should last him a good 6 months)
New shoes
ELC first gadget set

Then a stocking to include:
Christmas pj's
Chocolate coins
A couple of books
Socks

I do feel bad packing out his gifts with clothes and shoes; ie stuff he needs, but he's only little and he doesn't know!

HarriedWithChildren · 27/10/2011 08:46

We don't have any TV channels with commercials which is a blessing but also quite frankly a total pain at this time of year when ideas would be welcome and the kids are clueless.

DS1 5: Swingball, marble run and generous stocking
DS2 3: bike, maybe playmobil pool and stocking, also generous
DS3 1: Duplo construction and Tonka truck, and GS

I worry that I getting playmobil for a 3yo is fulfilling my unrequited childhood need, although he adores his older brother's.

Quite worried about the cost of older kids presents posted on here.

leftmydignityatthedoor · 27/10/2011 08:54

Yes the price of the older one's stuff is scary, I can't imagine a time that my kids will be able to get a laptop or tablet for christmas - still, they are far, far from deprived - must keep a sense of perspective!!

Ormirian · 27/10/2011 09:25

Gaelic - I totally agree about the quantities ! even when mine were little they only got one main present and then a stocking with lots of little things (jelly beans, a book, socks, a few hawkins bazaar type novelties). When they hot a bit older they also hot small gifts from each other that they chose and I paid for.
