Ok, I know its november, but its only 54 days til Christmas and I am so excited. I love everything about christmas, I love the build up, Christingle services, carols, buying and wrapping presents, even writing and posting cards.

Thought a thread to swap tips, plans and generally get excited might be qute nice!

I used to love the build up when I was in school. Concerts, so on.

Since joining the real world and having no little ones to get all excited for, and working in retail, I could happily shut the world out some years.

lissieloucifer · 01/11/2010 21:11

exactly. I was a restaurant manager pre-ds and all it meant to me was stress and waking up at 4am convinced that I had double booked a party. I even used to take the reservations and rooms books home with me and redirect the phone to my mobile, just in case! when ds was a baby, I liked it, but didnt really get it. now he is 5 and is convinced that he saw an elf in the gumball machine at the bowling alley!

By the middle of the month we can start helping mums who are threatening their children with "if you aren't good, santa won't come"

Usually by pointing out the cctv camera and saying "you see that camera up there? Santa has his elves looking through every camera to make sure children are being good"Wink

SecretNutellaFix · 01/11/2010 21:29

I have begun planning Xmas pressies- I have a new nephew to buy for. All right he's only going to be 8 weeks old, but he can't get spoiled at that age.Grin

Will get my mum some new clothes- she has lost 6 stone through ill health since last year and she is using a nappy pin to keep her trousers up and her bras are 3 sizes to big for her.Sad It's the only way we can get her to accept new clothes! grrr. bloody independent mothers.

CherryRocketMonster · 01/11/2010 21:48

yeah it does sound nice and easy. unfortunately i know that they both also want ds's, and i havent asked the 2 boys (11 and 9) what they want yet.

lissieloucifer · 01/11/2010 21:57

lol, ds is getting a wii (although its actually a family present) he is pretty easy to buy for on the whole, i am pretty much done with his.

OP posts:
SecretNutellaFix · 01/11/2010 21:58

eek cherry-

CherryRocketMonster · 01/11/2010 22:27

i got a wii last year for a family present. the kids love it, i might have played on it all of 3 times. i dont mind getting the ds's for the girls, not gonna get complicated ones, will get them a pre-owned ds lite each, you can get them for £55 in gamestation. dd1 wants a pink one and dd2 wants a white one. ds1 wants a dsi, gamestation have the black or white ones for £99 right now, or £115 for the other colours. may well get him pre-owned too, for £85. no idea what to get ds2, he is awkward because he has dyspraxia and possible autism so most of the things he wants he cant do, and most of the things he can do are way too young for him.

lissieloucifer · 01/11/2010 22:38

there are some great deals on preowneds at the mo. we were getting the boy a pre-owned wii, but decided to get the red one from asda with 3 games instead for £50 more.

what is ds2 into?
