Ok, I know its november, but its only 54 days til Christmas and I am so excited. I love everything about christmas, I love the build up, Christingle services, carols, buying and wrapping presents, even writing and posting cards.

Thought a thread to swap tips, plans and generally get excited might be qute nice!

Not too early at all! DS1's birthday is Decemeber 3rd so we like to be decorated normally before then.
Thinking about it we will probably decorate for that even if we are away. yay.

DreamTeamGirl · 03/11/2010 22:08

Waitrose collect slots married?

Is that where you put in a shopping list & go and collect it all bagegd up?
If so, thats what I have been saying for weeks and weeks needs to be done, and would be SO much better than current systems

SantasMooningArse · 03/11/2010 22:42

That's what theya re yes, you buy onl;ne then turn up; you need to book now though.

Best thing we have got so far, at least out of the ordinary, is Lego universe for ds3. Poor love has autism and his world revolves around the PC (he ahd to fill in a form for school and it said 'what can school do to help you more?' and he wrote 'let me play on PC more' Oh how we laughed PMSL). he's kida worn out Club Penguin now, and loves Lego gmaesd. it's £8 a month nigh on on top of the game but oftentimes it's the only palce he communicates properly (has scarring on mouth so he gives up in RL as hard to understand). Can't wait to see his face when he realises.

lissieloukatthosefireworks · 04/11/2010 08:07

oh that sounds fab! i cant wait to see ds's face when he opens his dinosaur tooth! imagine being 5.5, obsessed with 'saurs and opening that on christmas day!

marriedtoagoodun · 04/11/2010 12:38

No the Ocado is online. You have to spend £60 I think and then checkout. The slots are like gold dust nearer to Christmas and as we lve in the back of beyond I was very chuffed to get this sorted. However I have checked out with just 3 bottles of champagne in the basket (to give me the right total) so must make sure I amend the basket to inlcude other essentials like foodWink

simpson · 04/11/2010 13:09

Oooh can I join??

I also love Christmas Grin

Hawkins Bazaar shop opened yesterday and I have started to buy DC's stocking fillers etc...

Their main pressies are all done

Now, If only someone could wrap them all for me!! Grin Grin

lissieloukatthosefireworks · 04/11/2010 14:30

I love wrapping presents. we do ours when the tree goes up! its as much a part of it as anything. got the sainsburys magazine the other day great tip to use brown paper but dress it up with red ribbon and a bow etc.

CherryRocketMonster · 04/11/2010 14:40

i will be starting to wrap pretty soon, have got loads to do so cant really leave it any later than middle of nov. i only get an hour or so in the evenings as ds1 is nearly 12 and doesnt go to bed until 9. (and i hate wrapping stuff on christmas eve and having to rush around)

simpson · 04/11/2010 15:41

I want to have it all wrapped by the end of November so I will have to start soon as I don't want to leave it to the last minute.

What date does everyone put their Christmas trees up??

I am going to our local garden centre tomorrow to get DS a Christmas bauble with his name on as it broke last year Sad

Lissie - I saw your tip re Buzz Camera. I need to pick that up too Smile

lissieloukatthosefireworks · 04/11/2010 20:47

our christmas decorations are going up the first weekend in december.

i ended up taking the camera back, we wanted one with a proper screen

EightiesChick · 04/11/2010 21:04

Hi! I love Christmas. This year I am sadly behind - haven't yet even ordered my cards, except for one pack I bought in the RNLI shop on my summer holiday Blush

We also do tree and decs the first weekend in December. DH wouldn't go for it any earlier, and I don't mind waiting till then as I play Christmas music in my car from about mid-October Grin

lissieloukatthosefireworks · 05/11/2010 20:46

look at this

DrSeuss · 05/11/2010 20:58

Try the following:-
Portable North Pole (google it)
icaughtsanta.com
Also some bloke called Phil, who puts an ad on ebay every December. You send him a photo of your house at night, he produces a video of Santa on your roof.
Go to Lidl for gorgeous German goodies.
Or Aldi.

lissieloukatthosefireworks · 05/11/2010 21:22

i love the portable north pole, ds was totally entranced last year, we also love norad.

Bucharest · 07/11/2010 18:03

Can I join you too?

Have been browsing sites for months for various bits and bobs and my Nigella and Delia are both my constant companions...

I love wrapping- my favourite bit Grin

The Bloke Called Phil sounds brilliant, Dr Seuss- how do we find him? What section of ebay does he sell under?

lissieloukatthosefireworks · 08/11/2010 13:27

oooh, i went into the range on friday and got soem more decorations from their christmas shop, it was ace!

OracleInaCoracle · 13/11/2010 18:34

Have bought nearly all presents now Grin They are in a small mountain in our bedroom carefully covered with random clothes Blush

The one thing I HATE is cards... I am useless at getting them, and even more useless at actually sending them!

Trying to make a bigger thing of decorating this year, managed a lovely tree last year but have been struggling with how to get ceiling decs up - fecking concrete ceiling!!! Angry
