How long does your 2 year old sleep....

Because mine needs loads. She goes to bed at about 7:00, sleeps until about 8:00 and needs about a 2 hour nap in the day time. She has lots of exercise and eats tons.

Most of my friends 2 year olds don't have a nap. Have tried dropping it, but just didn't work....

DS is 2.6 - he sleeps from 7 till 6.30-7, and likes to sleep for at least 2 hours in the day. He would be awful if he didn't nap, and most of the children in his room at nursery (18 m - 3)have a nap tbh

Jojay · 08/12/2008 20:38

My Ds has just turned 2 and sleeps a similar amount to your daughter.

I think it's great!!

rislip · 08/12/2008 20:38

Oh lucky you. I'm jealous.

Mine has just dropped her daytime nap and roughly sleeps from 7.30pm - 7am. She spent 20 odd months waking up at 5am so I'm thrilled with 7am.

ds1 is a fab sleeper too. he has always had at LEAST 12 hours at night, usually more. he didn't drop his daytime nap until he was gone 3

artichokes · 08/12/2008 20:38

DD usually sleeps 12 hours at night. She dropped all naps about a month ago (at 2.3).

StarlightWonderStarlightBright · 08/12/2008 20:39

8pm-8am then 3pm-6pm

beeny · 08/12/2008 20:39

Oh good! She's normal

Was feeling intimidated that my, perhaps, hypercompetitive friends, were saying theirs don't nap. Then again, they bragged that theirs also slept through the night from, around 3 months...

beeny some are just like that!
my ds2 isn't anything like ds1. he does about 10-11 hrs at night and 45mins-90mins nap during day and he's only a year

Wallace · 08/12/2008 20:42

especially Starlight

I'm lucky if my two year old sleeps 10 hours at night, and he doesn't nap.

ben5 · 08/12/2008 20:45

Wallace i'm with you. 10-12hours at night and nothing through the day. wish he would sometimes nap!!!

beeny · 08/12/2008 20:45

Thank God was going to have to kill people who had said he/she sleeps 12 hours a night.

nickytinseltimes · 08/12/2008 20:47

Lucky bastatards!

Ds dropped his nap as soon as he hit 2.

God, I miss that hour lunch break....

rubyslippersisappearinginpanto · 08/12/2008 20:48

DS is 2.5 and just dropped his nap at home

he naps at nursery

he sleeps through at night (7 - 7 ish)

StarlightWonderStarlightBright · 08/12/2008 20:48

But my DS is only just 2, and walks at least 1.5 miles a day. He never watches tele but charges around the house the whole time.

ilovemydog · 08/12/2008 20:50

Beeny, I also have a 9 month old, who doesn't do naps. he doesn't do sleep longer than an hour at a time, if that's any consolation

But was really quite worried that DD sleeps too much. Wasn't trying to be controversial!

ruby slippers - I feel your pain. DS is 2.6, and like yours, will happily have an hour and half nap at nursery. But not on the days he's at home, oh no!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 08/12/2008 20:51

7.30 until 7 am and still 4 days out of 7 will have an afternoon nap of almost 3 hours. She will be 3 in January.

stillenacht · 08/12/2008 20:52

Wallace my DS1 was the same 8pm-6am every night and no nap

beeny · 08/12/2008 20:53

Sorry ilovemydog lack of sleep, pregnancy and low iron have turned me into serial killer.

rubyslippersisappearinginpanto · 08/12/2008 20:53

katerina - it is obvious he needs the sleep as he inevitably falls asleep if we go out in the car or in the buggy

he will lay on the sofa with his blanket and have some quiet time

clearly, i am fascinating company

Louandben · 08/12/2008 20:57

I think you are just showing off...lucky if mine slept 10hrs - still a nightmare now he is 3.5 and in nursery every morning.

Katerina75 · 08/12/2008 20:58

yep, same here ruby - but if he sleeps in the car, then I don't get to MN do the housework

ilovemydog · 08/12/2008 21:01

Beeny - lol! And aren't you a criminal barrister? Hope you're prosecuting!
