darling is 20mths robust, chatty confident fellow.
Chest infection, vomiting for 9 days, 7 of those on antibiotics. Now has rapid shallow breathing, heaving chest and temp. And vomiting up calpol. Fluids ok and within himself he is still there a bit. A trooper it seems.
He got better last Friday but went downhill again sunday night Monday morning. GP advised cautious 48 hr watch but if no improvement then we were looking at a pneumonia type thing and he would need paediatric care.
I am not a panicky type at all and am so worried. He is my 3rd child btw.
Wish him luck appt at 10:40

wishing you luck....hope he gets some help/improvement soon......

lulumama · 26/11/2008 07:31

good luck and get well soon vibes to DS2. am sure he will be fighting fit again very soon children can go downhill fast, and come right back up again as quickly.

chutneymary · 26/11/2008 07:33

Poor you and poor him. DD1 had this about 2 months ago aged 3.6. Rallied very quickly once the ABs had kicked in. It's very frightening though.

Will be thinking of you at 10.40.

DustyTv · 26/11/2008 07:34

Wishing your DS and you lots of good luck. I hope he is feeling better very soon.

gladbag · 26/11/2008 07:34

Sending lots of good luck vibes - it does sound like he's a trooper, but v worrying, none the less hugs. Hope he's on the mend really really soon.

gladbag · 26/11/2008 07:36

Hmmm - sorry, I made that hugs into a link by mistake, should have been ((hugs)) , or a link to something lovely for your ds.....

Candlewax · 26/11/2008 07:39

get well quickly pifflebabe vibes coming from here - its rotten when kids are so ill.

FourArms · 26/11/2008 07:49

Best wishes for the appt. I'm sure that if he does have to go in, he will perk up really quickly once he gets some stronger IV antibiotics.

Perhaps pack your bags now just in case so that you're not doing it all flustered later, or worse still, having to ask your DP to find things!

hope he is OK

My ds2 was hospitalised with the same thing and it made me feel reassured that he was in the best place and was out of my hands so he could have the best care.

hugs to you

lottiejenkins · 26/11/2008 07:59

Im thinking of you and sending positive vibes your way! xxxxxxxxxx

SoupDragon · 26/11/2008 08:03

IV antibiotics kick in really quickly. DS1 had pneumonia and picked up within 24 hours and DS2 had the same result (although more visually startling) with his recent bout of cellulitis.

Pack as if you're going to hospital and include a packed lunch. Take change for the carpark and something to keep you (both) amused. This was the best thing I did when taking DS2 for an assessment appointment with the GP - I knew where we were going to end up.

Good luck!

Good luck, will be keeping fingers crossed for the little Trooper

Piffle · 26/11/2008 08:16

he has just finished his antibiotics. No difference. He has not had antibiotics before either.
Tried steam too brought on coughing fits so strong he could barely breathe...
He himself is ok iykwim his essence is there but zero strength.
Well will see.
Hope bocos dd is home, she has been
ill in the past I think?
Tips on board...
Thanks
