Hi, so I’m freaking out! I was doing regular bath time and cleaning my son’s ears out and noticed this circle in his ear that looked like it was reflecting in the light!
not sure what to do!

What’s this in my child’s ear?!

Yeah because the nurse at the hospital is going to be way better at it. Unless she's an audiologist she's no more trained than anyone else. Acting like people are all stupid and you're so wise.

Oof, back in the the knife box Ms Sharp.

nodramaplz · 27/02/2025 19:28

Can't you grab it with tweezers?

BobbyBiscuits · 27/02/2025 19:39

It looks like a hoop earring or a can ring pull top?! It's definitely a foreign object that might go further in if you poke it. I think the GP first thing tomorrow? Hope it doesn't hurt?

Do you realise that on mobile devices the only way to see an OP update is by scrolling through all the comments to find them?

‘See All’ works fine on my mobile.
Maybe it depends on whether you use the app or not? (I don’t.)

It looks like either 2 plastic play coins or a charm. I'd carefully try tweezers or a magnet if you have one the right shape...after that either urgent care or a&e whichever I thought would be quicker.
Good luck 👍

OP went to A&E yesterday!

Edited

It’s not ‘definitely a foreign object’ OP already went to A&E yesterday! It’s ear wax

Unfortunately no tin of beans this time😂
they didn’t take it out, just sent us on our way! So a lovely 2 hour trip out😂
thank you everyone! Glad it’s been checked and I can rest easy!

They should have removed it. It is such a simple thing to do because they have gadgets to do that without difficulty.

If you notice any deafness in your child take him back. If it starts irritating him so that he tries to poke it about. Take it back. It will rebound on you if something is up. The hospitals have standard phrases they use for any neglect they have.

I can suggest warm olive oil might help. I don't think Earex are for children, but works wonders with adults.

Well do that then, if you can't see all the OP's posts on your mobile phone. (Although apparently other people can!) Wink

Seriously are the people giving responses to a thread that was posted a full day ago, assuming that even if the issue is not sorted, that no-one else has suggested what they are suggesting?! It's supremely irritating when people do this... CBA to read the full thread, (or at least the OP's posts) and then come up with the excuse that they can't just highlight the OP's posts because they're on their mobile phone. 🙄

.

LaceApplique · 27/02/2025 19:54

Just pull them out with tweezers. It's not far in.

Of course the nurse is going to be better at fishing things out of someone's ear FGS! 🙄 She has probably done it way more often than most parents. I have 2 children and had them both at home til their early 20s, and I never ONCE had a pair of tweezers in either of their ears!

At least read OPs updates if not anything else. They went to A&E yesterday!

People clearly can't be bothered. 🙄

Mine too. I just checked. 'See all' is definitely available on the mobile site for me!

eyeeyeeyeeyeeye · 27/02/2025 20:11

@llizzie what you mean standard phrases ?

Dancingatthepinkponyclub · 27/02/2025 20:19

Yeah same, dh would be all over that !

Same here! You can clearly see it!

OP WENT TO A&E YESTERDAY

IT WAS EAR WAX

NOTHING TO SEE HERE

Mummyto3derby · 26/02/2025 21:44

Hi everyone!
we Had a trip to A&E, was seen by two doctors and it turns out it’s just hardened shiny ear wax that has just formed in an unusual shape!

Oh wow, I could have sworn that was some sort of metal button or something! I was going to suggest trying a magnetic screwdriver 🤣 glad wee one is okay and I bet feels much better with that out!

WeightLossGoal2024 · 27/02/2025 20:26

Glad all is ok!

oustedbymymate · 27/02/2025 20:28

Sorry I also think a an and e one. Looks like a tiny button battery. Does anyone have hearing aids? Looks like a battery from then

eyeeyeeyeeyeeye · 27/02/2025 20:11

@llizzie what you mean standard phrases ?

The most standard used is:

despite our best efforts, the patient.................

That sort of standard phrase. There is a Facebook group for people complaining about the NHS.

Nothing like stating the obvious, just to get a word in.

Could it be a little silverfish bug curled up in there?

I will now be having nightmares about this for the rest of my life, so thank you 😅

Yep. I'm beginning to think that people are doing it deliberately now. 😂

caringcarer · 27/02/2025 20:49

I'd get him to A&E minor injuries. I had to take my nephew once because he pushed a piece of Lego up his nose. They used a little vacuum to suck it out.

DollydaydreamTheThird · 27/02/2025 20:56

TwentyTwentyFive · 26/02/2025 19:20

Irrespective of whether it's a coin, battery or something else please don't poke and prod at it and take him to a&e asap.

This!

BoudiccaRising · 27/02/2025 21:00

Ha Ha who wants to take bets on how many more posters will post with their pearls of wisdom without reading OP’s update? I’m guessing 10.
