Personally, I think the failure to vaccinate should trigger a social services referral. It's a form of neglect, and children deserve better.
🙄

You can pull faces all you like, but I stand my ground. With the exception of those who genuinely cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons, people who choose not to vaccinate their kids because of some random shit that they read on the Internet are neglecting their children. Neglect is a form of abuse and needs to be investigated.

I have an opinion like anyone else.
But i dont think you should be asking me or anyone how they would feel if their child dies when you dont know that person thats ignorant of you.

My feeling towards my first born and only daughter will always be with me she passed at 6 months 8/7/2002.
So please dont ask anyone how they will feel if their child dies some of us already know how it feels.

Sorry for your loss.
💐

It isn't a personal choice though. It affects your children and wider society.

You can do what you like to your own body. That's a personal choice.

You don't own your children, though, and they have rights that override your personal choices. The state has a duty to keep children safe if their parents can't/won't do so.

Stand your ground i really dont care but i would not be saying people should have SS sent to them.
You dont know people's back stories.
So dont judge just makes you look very sad.

You know that the risk of a bad outcome from catching one of these diseases is higher than the risk from the vaccine.

You also know that the risk catching one of these diseases is lower because others are vaccinated so disease levels are suppressed.

For you to carry on making your choices, it would be better for you and people like you, if others continued to be vaccinated.

I don't know people's back stories, no, but that's not relevant frankly. The priority is to keep children safe. Failing to vaccinate is an indicator that the children may be at risk. I think that needs investigating.

The scientific evidence is in overwhelmingly in favour of vaccination. The fact that you've read some shit about vaccines on the Internet doesn't actually change the balance of risk.

Peonies12 · 06/05/2024 09:59

Because anyone who loves their child should want every available protection. We’re so fortunate in Uk to have free vaccines. We should make it mandatory unless against medical advice

I reckon you should try reporting people to social services for giving children vaccines. You probably know some.
I don't want to give you my details but I honestly wouldn't mind if someone reported me for this. Do you think my children are still at risk from their childhood vaccines now that they are in their teens?

Again, the evidence is clear. The balance of risk is overwhelmingly in favour of vaccination.

Nobody is arguing that vaccination is completely risk-free, but the fact remains that not vaccinating is a much bigger risk than vaccination.

Social Services are not going to investigate parents for following NHS guidance, no matter how much anti vax shit there is on the Internet. The science doesn't back you up.

I never said it did. There is of course a risk associated with vaccination. There are risks associated with most things in life. But the risk of non-vaccination is significantly greater, so if you're relying on luck, then vaccination is the obvious way to go.

I acknowledge that some parents seem incapable and/or unwilling to comprehend this simple equation. I just don't think it's fair to expose the children to unnecessary risk because of the parents' inadequate critical thinking skills.

I'm more concerned about your children's rights, personally.

Your own right to be ignorant shouldn't be allowed to impact negatively on them.

You are trying to present the risks as equal, but the overwhelming wealth of scientific evidence does not support this.

The fact that you can't/won't understand the evidence doesn't mean that you aren't failing your child. It simply means that you can pretend to yourself that you have a rational reason for doing so.

When I vaccinated my child I put her at (tiny) risk for immediate side effects

When you decided not to vaccinate your child you put them at risk FOREVER of catching preventable illnesses with very serious consequences.
You also put other people at risk - those who cannot be vaccinated due to other factors (childhood diseases), those who are immunocompromised and those who are too young to have had their vaccinations yet. So your child might shake off measles… but the little baby who catches it from them in soft play might die. And that would be YOUR fault.

Thats the difference between my decision and yours.

So this thread has turned out like we all knew it would.

You can't argue with stupid people we should just let it go and leave them to it and hope for their sake they don't catch anything
