Recurring limp and leg pain

My toddler is 23 months old. In March he had irritable hip. He couldn't weight bare they did a hip X-ray said he was constipated. Took blood and said he had high inflammation and diagnosed irritable hip. Since then my toddler hasn't walked properly. He has a very noticeable weakness on his left side. His knee gives way daily. I took him back to the GP who referred us for physio back in may we still have no appointment for this. The past four weeks he has been waking up crying touching his leg saying ouch. The crying lasts between 1-3 hours until he eventually settles. Should I take him back to the GP or wait for the referral to physiotherapy? Confused

Did you go private?

beckypv · 09/11/2021 19:02

I’m really sorry you haven’t got any closer to working out what’s wrong. Although it’s frustrating about the bloods, the fact that nothing was out of range is hopefully reassuring that it is less likely to be something serious. Was this feedback and bloods with your private appointment? Even if they can’t diagnose something you’d hope they would point you to what your next steps should be. Such a nightmare for you ☹️

Oh Op I can't believe the utter shite you are having to wade through. On a purely practical note, ring your GP surgery and chase up the physio referral, and keep chasing it. A good physiotherapist will be able to give you lots of advice and refer on to other agencies if s/he has concerns.

@pumpkinspice1 as others have said, I cannot believe how much crap youre having to deal with trying to get help for your little one. Its just crazy that everyone is saying no or making you wait longer and longer for appointments and referrals. I'm glad your HV is putting in a complaint but Drs should be helpimg you not fobbing you off saying its nothing when you can clearly show there is.
Youve probably already looked into it, but could your little one have crohns or coeliac disease at all as youve mentioned he doesnt sleep or eat and is really lethargic.
Stay strong hun. Youve got a lot of us here to support you.

Ok. Was that a private paediatrician he has just seen?
So he's not anaemic and his inflammatory markers are low, so that's good.
Did the consultant today thoroughly examine him? He obviously feels he doesn't look seriously unwell, so that's also good.
Is he still limping? How much is he sleeping?

InSpaceNooneCanHearYouScream · 09/11/2021 23:15

I see he has been/was constipated- is that being treated with regular movicol or similar? Chronic constipation can really drag little children down and usually needs long term treatment.

Eeiliethya · 17/11/2021 13:46

Hows things OP?

3luckystars · 22/11/2021 10:29

I was thinking about this thread last night.

Did you get anything for the constipation? It can cause a whole heap of issues.

Did anyone suggest movicol?
Usually it is prescribed for a month or two.

How is your son?

crumblebug · 27/11/2021 16:46

@pumpkinspice1, how is your boy doing now?

MalbecandToast · 03/12/2021 15:39

Just caught up on the thread, I'm so sorry no one is listening OP. I too would be very concerned with these symptoms. How is he now?
