DD is having a high fever since Saturday. There was no other symptoms on Saturday, just 40C and a bit upset. Vomited once on Sunday, about 10 times on Monday. We saw an emergency gp on Sunday and went to a&e on Monday. They had her urine and blood sugar tested. No obvious reason, and the vomit kind of stopped. Her temputure is kepted at 38 after carpol. They presumed it was viruses infection. So we were sent home.

The thing is, she refuses to eat or drink anything. All she dose since Sunday night is sleeping. I literally have to force her to drink. Managed to get about 400ml juice and water in. Vomited once. She had been awake for less than 1 hour today. Nothing could draw her attention. No crying, just sleep.

Should I take her back to hospital, or let her rest at home? She is not getting worse, only very difficult to wake. She used to be so energetic even when she was very ill and with a fever. I'm really worried now.

Thinking of you

PepperAndPops · 18/07/2018 21:40

Wow I can't believe they kept sending her home!
Hope she is on the mend soon - keep us updated Smile

Eatmycheese · 18/07/2018 21:43

Always always trust your instincts as a mother. It is a powerful thing.

I hope she is on the mend very soon and send you and her love and positive get well vibes. Poor little thing, but she is lucky to have a tenacious and diligent mother in you. Well done 💐

DragonBone · 18/07/2018 21:44

Has to be serious for them to Intubate - don't let them baffle you with bullshit - this is sometimes no that's been missed/ misdiagnosed by the hospital/gps you need to request a meeting with a consultant paediatrician for answers x

KnitFastDieWarm · 18/07/2018 21:44

Thank god you listened to your instincts. My friend had a similar fobbing off earlier this year and it turned out her DS had meningococcal septicaemia Shock medical professionals are wonderful but they are only human and do miss things. Best wishes for a speedy recover

huha · 18/07/2018 21:45

I read you post OP and immediately thought severe infection or sepsis. I hope your little one is ok and makes a quick recovery Thanks

DragonBone · 18/07/2018 21:45

*something that

3boys3dogshelp · 18/07/2018 21:46

Thinking of you both OP, hope she starts feeling better soon. Flowers

Always always always trust your instincts. When it comes to medicine the patriarchy is alive and well and does not tend to take a mother's greater understanding of her child into consideration.

OP you've been a brilliant advocate for your daughter. Well done on persisting. I hope she's better soon Flowers

aperolspritzplease · 18/07/2018 21:59

I hope she gets better quickly op.

ohfourfoxache · 18/07/2018 21:59

YellowTelescope · 18/07/2018 22:12

I hope she's OK OP

fabulous01 · 18/07/2018 22:13

Sorry to read about a little one being poorly
But absolutely right to trust your instincts. A consultant once said to me that the mother is always right.... ( I was a regular)

Hope she improves quickly. They bounce back so quickly

amy1008 · 18/07/2018 22:21

I was wrong, she is ventilatedSad

She is stable atm. Drs are trying to find out the cause. She will be staying in hospital for at least 5 days.

Thank you so much for telling me to go to hospital. I would have stayed at home if I didn't post here. You are life savers.

I think once she is well you should consider speaking to PALS about being sent home a few times. Not necessarily a complaint, but you don't want that to happen to someone else. Another parent might trust the hospital and not keep going back like you did.

badgeronabicycle · 18/07/2018 22:39

I am so to hear glad she's been admitted for treatment, your post has been worrying me. You did right to trust your instincts. Hope she makes a speedy recovery.
