DD is having a high fever since Saturday. There was no other symptoms on Saturday, just 40C and a bit upset. Vomited once on Sunday, about 10 times on Monday. We saw an emergency gp on Sunday and went to a&e on Monday. They had her urine and blood sugar tested. No obvious reason, and the vomit kind of stopped. Her temputure is kepted at 38 after carpol. They presumed it was viruses infection. So we were sent home.

The thing is, she refuses to eat or drink anything. All she dose since Sunday night is sleeping. I literally have to force her to drink. Managed to get about 400ml juice and water in. Vomited once. She had been awake for less than 1 hour today. Nothing could draw her attention. No crying, just sleep.

Should I take her back to hospital, or let her rest at home? She is not getting worse, only very difficult to wake. She used to be so energetic even when she was very ill and with a fever. I'm really worried now.

Good that she is there, she is in the best place. I hope she gets better soon. Any child that can’t hold fluids down for more than 24 hours needs urgent medical attention

DragonBone · 18/07/2018 20:55

Ffs op what a nightmare - no words other than wishing your daughter a speedy recovery - and thank the Lord she has a mom like you ! X

Toocold · 18/07/2018 20:59

Well done to you for preservering, I hope your little one improves soon and you get some much needed rest. If she has another time when ill and doesn’t drink try ice lollies especially good for the throat.

Redteapot67 · 18/07/2018 21:00

Ask them specifically - have you considered if she could have sepsis?

choccybiscuit · 18/07/2018 21:01

@amy1008 - by put her to sleep do you mean they've intubated and ventilated her?

If so, I hope you are doing ok

nearlyfiftyjeez · 18/07/2018 21:25

Quartz2208 · 18/07/2018 21:30

I assume they have put her in a medically induced coma if so its a serious infection they hav missed

Glad you insisted. Hope she feels better soon.

Poor little bobbin Cake

amy1008 · 18/07/2018 21:32

Yes they've intubated her. No ventilation through.

We asked about sepsis. They don't think it is. But she is on antibiotics anyway.
