Mums with toddlers, does this look ok?

Realise it's not the best move posting online for advice but I can't get into my Doctors for weeks with DD (2) She has a huge tummy that never goes down. I guess I just want some reassurance that it's normal. She has a small lump in her neck that I'm guessing is a node and she sweats a lot when she sleeps and is complaining of knee ache a lot. She was 2 in March. Does her tummy look normal to you mums of toddlers?

Hi everyone, thanks for thinking of us. What a week we've had. We saw a fab doctor at the CF unit and she had a sweat test and the results came back as normal 'cf not detected' however the Dr wanted to do a blood test too just to be extra thorough so waiting on the results of that, although in my heart I'm pretty satisfied it's not CF. The results from the sweat test were a relief. She's had 2 more prolapses spaced out through the week and the Drs are baffled as to what it it as they fully expected it to be CF. we have to take her to a&e every time it happens in case it strangulates. We are so stressed out by it all. She has more blood tests tomorrow to rule out Celiac which the consultants don't think it is. We are at a total loss in regards to swollen abdomen, head sweating and prolopses. So confusing but something is clearly not right.

I've been thinking of you op. Glad you updated but not the best news is it? I hope you get answers soon! Flowers

imtherealbummymummyotherisfake · 16/10/2017 08:52

Although obviously good news it's not CF.

whatsleep · 16/10/2017 08:53

Glad the doctors are taking it seriously, they will get to the bottom of it but I guess it will take time. Been thinking of you hoping you had been getting the help you needed, hope you get some answers soon x

Mrsknackered · 16/10/2017 09:00

Glad to hear it's unlikely to be CF.
Hopefully these next set of bloods shed some light? I also hope that DD is as comfortable as possible, prolapses can't be fun.
Lots of cuddles for you guys Flowers

StealthPolarBear · 16/10/2017 09:02

So pleased it's not cf x

Blueberrysandgrapes76 · 16/10/2017 09:34

Thank god its not cf - hope you get some answers soon

rackhampearl · 16/10/2017 09:35

The relief I felt when I got the sweat test results back was unreal, I slept for about 4 hours after while DH watched DD, I was just so exhausted from it all. The doctors have been great, give them their dues. They've been on the ball and they want to get to the bottom of it just as much as we do. The prolapses are awful, it looks like a human heart on the outside of her bottom :( they don't seem to cause her much pain though thank god. She's been getting bloody stools now which I think is just tissue blood from the prolapses.

Oh what a relief about the cf. You must be pleased. Can you see a nutritional therapist to help? I know you need the doctors diagnosis and help but in meantime how are her stools...what is her diet like? I would consider cutting dairy and gluten. Gluten can cause inflamation and dairy is a trigger for intolerance for allot of kids. You probably already know this but would be looking at veg and meat or fish as protein for her for a while?

shewolfmum · 16/10/2017 19:34

And wow yes...that sleep must have been needed

cestlavielife · 16/10/2017 23:06

Do not cut gluten until coeliac tests have been done .

Somersetter · 16/10/2017 23:13

Great news she hasn't got CF - you must have fully assumed the test would come back positive. I hope you get a diagnosis soon. X

wonkylegs · 17/10/2017 14:24

Glad she's being looked after and throughly investigated. It can be hard with LO's at the best of times let alone when there is something not right with their health.
Look after yourself & your LO with lots of nice treats - this is definitely the time for them

Somersetter · 19/10/2017 09:52

@rackhampearl how are things going? When are you expecting results from the blood tests? Thinking of you.

rackhampearl · 27/10/2017 11:54

Hey everyone! Sorry for late reply, been a hellish couple of weeks. Hospital have rang today and DD has Coeliac ! Not great but much better than CF and a relief to find out. Now we know! Thank you all for your support and advice. You've been there for me when I have been so worried and down about it all. You're all star.

PurpleAlerts · 27/10/2017 21:00

Glad you have a diagnosis and significantly better than CF! Hope she starts to feel better soon once you cut out that pesky gluten!

CallMeDollFace · 27/10/2017 22:27

Thank you for the update op. So pleased you have a diagnosis now, not to mention one which is far better than you feared. Best wishes to you and your dd, now you can move forward with good dietary advice, I’m sure you will see a huge improvement in her symptoms xx

working925 · 27/10/2017 22:45

Coeliac is fine - really - a complete pain until you get used to it then it's fine with only occasional situations which are difficult to manage. There's masses of stuff available now and to be honest you can eat most of the time without specific gluten free foods - pm me if you want any advice,

FATEdestiny · 27/10/2017 23:13

Wow, just read this thread. Mumsnet at its most awesome - great support. OP, you must be so relieved to get a diagnosis and to now be able to help her.

rackhampearl · 27/10/2017 23:34

I agree FATE! Not one bad comment from any poster. I felt the need to update fellow mumsnetters before my actual friends Grin great support! I am very relieved , so glad it can be handled dietary and not lots of meds!
