Mums with toddlers, does this look ok?

Realise it's not the best move posting online for advice but I can't get into my Doctors for weeks with DD (2) She has a huge tummy that never goes down. I guess I just want some reassurance that it's normal. She has a small lump in her neck that I'm guessing is a node and she sweats a lot when she sleeps and is complaining of knee ache a lot. She was 2 in March. Does her tummy look normal to you mums of toddlers?

Sorry, but no, not normal. I was at primary school with a girl like this, many moons ago & I can still remember her clearly. Turned out she had a problem with her stomach muscles that needed corrective surgery.

LovingLola · 21/09/2017 13:51

Does she do large poos 9 times a day on a regular basis? That seems incredible..how can she be retaining nutrients from food?

And the GP sounds crap to be honest.

littlecabbage · 21/09/2017 14:11

I think a second opinion would be good when you look at all her symptoms together. Surely some routine blood tests wouldn't go amiss at the very least? xx

Ames33 · 22/09/2017 07:00

It’s the poo amount that I find quite startling!
9 a day is a huge amount, I’d get a second opinion

Justonemorepleasethen · 22/09/2017 07:50

I would seriously get a second opinion

pieceofpurplesky · 22/09/2017 08:00

That's a lot of poop. I would agree with pps and get a second opinion

ArriettyMatilda · 22/09/2017 08:31

I'm a bit concerned about my almost 4 year olds pot belly now, it's not unlike your dds. She doesn't have the other symptoms though. She does get occasional constipation, but even when she goes regularly her stomach looks like that. When she is constipated her bowel movements cause her pain and are extra smelly, she also wets the bed so I'm kind of certain that she is fine most of the time because she doesn't always have these symptoms. This has happened roughly 3 times this year. I think you are doing the right thing getting it checked out with the symptoms additional to the pot belly.

Sorry to high jack but would anyone be concerned regarding a pot belly with none of the other symptoms above?

Hey everyone, I switched Drs yesterday and she has another appointment this afternoon. I HAVEN'T cut out gluten under the advice from you Mums! What you're all saying makes more sense to me. The Dr seemed quite young, not sure if that makes a difference to his advice. Will keep you all posted. Fingers Crossed I get some real help today!

cestlavielife · 22/09/2017 08:45

Ariettt try something simple like an actimel or similar every day to begin with or buy kids probiotics they do help

PolarBearGoingSomewhere · 22/09/2017 08:52

Well done Rackham, glad you've got an appointment later.

LoniceraJaponica · 22/09/2017 08:52

Good luck. I hope you get some answers soon.

littlecabbage · 22/09/2017 09:33

Nice work! Hope you get more useful advice xx

picklemepopcorn · 22/09/2017 12:22

Good luck!

tkband3 · 22/09/2017 17:00

Good news Rackham - hope this doctor is more receptive to your concerns.

Arietty - I would certainly go and see the GP at least. Some children can be asymptomatic but still have coeliac disease (not that your DD necessarily has that, but worth checking out nonetheless).

TitsalinaBumSqoosh · 22/09/2017 17:16

My son had all those symptoms and he has cystic Fibrosis, it wasn't diagnosed until he was 2.5yrs, the heel prick test only picks up certain mutations of it not all of them.
Is she salty if you lick her?
I will be getting it checked especially with the family history.

Lukeandlorelai4Ever · 22/09/2017 19:08

How did you get on at the doc ?

Afreshstartplease · 23/09/2017 09:58

How are things op

rackhampearl · 24/09/2017 16:26

Hey everyone, he agreed that the first doctor gave me bad advise. He learned about my sister having CF and is gonna send her for a sweat test in regards to the poos. Also agrees it could be intolerances and we are going back tomorrow to talk and he wants a stool sample.

cestlavielife · 24/09/2017 17:09

Your sister having cf puts a new spin on things

picklemepopcorn · 24/09/2017 17:38

That's good. Well done for going back.

MissJSays · 26/09/2017 22:29

Well done for going back! Hope she’s ok x

Crispmonster1 · 26/09/2017 22:32

Doctors now. Or a and e and explain situation. Sweating at night and enlarged lymph node?? GP needs to make room for you..

SindyFishtail · 26/09/2017 22:42

How is you little girl OP?

Mrsknackered · 27/09/2017 00:07

DS1 had a stomach like this, it was intolerance (which I think he is actually starting to grow out of)

I hope it's a very boring and normal reason OP. Flowers
