Currently in hospital since last night with DS who is 3. Scans show masses on his brain. Drs believe them to be tumours, likely to have come from his abdomen.

Waiting for more scans/tests etc. staff are being overly nice to us which is worrying me more (though they did refer us to social services last night as they thought DH or I had fractured DS' skull.

Feel incredibly sick. He is 3 years old. Please hold my hand.

Very sorry to hear this trazzletoes. I hope that they can operate successfully and sort him out.

My niece had a brain tumour when she was 21mo, in her cerebellum. It took 3m to find it, because doctors didn't really think to look for it - her mum was fobbed off with various diagnoses such as tonsilitis Hmm, ear infection, febrile convulsions - eventually my niece couldn't walk because her balance had gone and she was taken to UCH in London, and then transferred to KCH, where she first had an operation to relieve the fluid pressure in her brain (the tumour was blocking the flow of cerebro-spinal fluid) and 2 days later a 9h operation to remove the tumour itself. Nerve wracking in the extreme but a successful outcome - niece is now 7 and still clear of any recurrence (although she is checked annually).

Love and strength to you and your boy (and rest of your family) x

Trazzle - I am so sorry to read this. My 16 year old son was diagnosed with a brain tumour on 1st November last year, so nearly a year ago. It was, and still is, the most horrific shock and it is a parents worse living nightmare. There is a very good support thread on here for parents of children with cancer where you will receive much understanding when you feel up to joining us there.

I spent 5 and half months living in hospital with my son but have been at home with him since mid March. If there are any questions you would like to ask, practical advice about being in hospital, hand holding or anything please pm me.

I wish you much love and strength as you face this. Xx
