Anyone else's DC got/had this virus?

DS (9) symptoms since Friday

Going hot and cold
Phlegmy cough
Lying on settee all day-very unlike him
Zero appetite/ loss of taste
No sleep due to cough
Sensation of 'moving' when lying down and sensation of 'falling forward' when sitting up.

Been to GPs. Told it's a virus (i though it could be tonsilitis but no) and it could go on for 7-10 days, administer Calpol, Nurofen, plenty to drink etc.

Is it just DS?

dd1 now says the dizziness and room spinnning is the worst its ever been
I thought she was getting better today
I'm getting a bit worried about her tbh

to make it all worse her friedn who moved away had been arraged to come this weekend and as she felt much better this morning her friend has come

Its a hour round trip to go and pick her up halfway from hers

and she not feeling well either, I feel awful for them

asdevil · 17/02/2012 21:28

Mine had it before Christmas, and half the school had it last week. I think it is Swine Flu myself, although that word seems to have been erased by the medical community

Sparklingbrook · 18/02/2012 10:50

How is everyone today? DS2 has (unwisely IMO) decided to go and try and play football. I think he will end up watching it, rather than playing. It will be nice for him to get some fresh air though. Grin

Aw, hope he does feel up to joining in Sparkling. Agree that fresh air will help.

DS is on the mend, it seems - his appetite is back and he just has a really snotty nose now. DD, however, is teething as well as full to the brim with phlegm :( Last night she was up for hours coughing hard enough to projectile vomit (twice, all over me and herself). She is not her usual happy little self today, which means everyone's ears are getting a bashing.

Sparklingbrook · 18/02/2012 11:14

The cough is like a proper smokers one isn't it? We haven't had any cold/snot at all Bender. Your poor DD. Sad

Mine's still like a plague house.

I'm half expecting a barrow to go past the door with someone ringing a bell and shouting "bring out yer dead...".

I am becoming a very good nurse though.I'm rather hoping I may get a certificate or something at the end of this for my courage in the face of the lurgy and dedication to my family...

(actually in reality I think mine are improving a little except DH who feels really rough)

Hope everyone else gets better soon.

Sparklingbrook · 18/02/2012 14:00

DS2 went and watched the football. Now he is fast asleep on the settee. Sad

countessbabycham · 18/02/2012 14:02

Aww! Thanks Sparkling Grin

countessbabycham · 18/02/2012 14:07

Your poor DS Sparkling.I think they think they can do something but realise quite rapidly that it'll wipe them out.A sleep on the settee is the best thing, bless him.

Abra1d · 18/02/2012 14:35

I've got it back again!

I don't think it is flu, because flu tends to come on quite suddenly, whereas we all felt tired and coldy for a day or so first.

Perhaps there's more than one.

Our teenagers are now officially running the household! :))

Sparklingbrook · 18/02/2012 14:39

What Abra? It comes back? Noooooooo!!! Sad

OP posts:
BenderBendingRodriguez · 18/02/2012 15:07

Abra1d that sucks :( Sparkling funnily enough my DS has also been asleep on the sofa for about an hour. He's now eating a lolly and watching a DVD. He still has a certain look of blankness about him, poor thing.

Abra1d · 18/02/2012 15:17

It's not fair, is it! I think I overdid it this week and last: big freelance project, French exchange student staying, so lots of outings (and needing to keep the house a bit more ordered).

Pursang · 18/02/2012 15:31

DD had it but got off pretty lightly apart from the hacking, phlegmy cough, and now 13 mth old has got it too...he's normally such a little hurricane and all he's done all week is cwtch on my lap. Ditto with the appetite - normally eats like a horse but hasn't wanted to eat all week. Poor mite is pumped full of neurofen & calpol. It's horrible isn't it?

Sparklingbrook · 19/02/2012 20:15

How is everyone?

DS2 seems to have shaken it off, just a bit of a cough left, He has had an argument with DH so I think that's a good sign. Poor soul hasn't had much of a holiday though. Sad

OP posts:
countessbabycham · 19/02/2012 20:31

Was going to ask you this over on the other thread Sparkling.

Glad DS seems better.Mine are back at school tomorrow (fighting has resumed Grin)

DH still very poorly though.

Sparklingbrook · 19/02/2012 20:34

I think the fighting is a definite sign countess. Hope DS can stay awake in class for most of the day. Grin

Your poor DH. which bit of the virus from hell has he got today? Sad

OP posts:
countessbabycham · 19/02/2012 20:39

utterly utterly washed out.D and no appetite.Hot and cold and aches.

Poor old bean.

Sparklingbrook · 19/02/2012 20:44

Sad Countess. I hope he's better soon and you can take your nurse's hat off.

OP posts:
countessbabycham · 19/02/2012 21:17

Thought it quite suited me,actually...Grin

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2012 12:13

Well DS2 has gone back to school. Hope he's not asleep at his desk. Grin He really wanted to go though and he is definitely nearly back to his normal self.

OP posts:
BenderBendingRodriguez · 20/02/2012 14:26

Yay Sparkling :) Mine is also better, I think - he was foul all day yesterday Hmm and ran into nursery this afternoon like a happy little spaniel.

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2012 17:19

That's good news Bender. Smile DS survived the day and seems fine. Phew.
