In Butterfly Beach, Jacqueline Wilson's £1 World Book Day book, we once again meet the unlikely best friends from The Butterfly Club. To celebrate its publication on 2 March, we're asking you to tell us your favourite Jacqueline Wilson books.

Selma can't wait to go on holiday with her best friend forever, Tina. But a holiday with Tina means a holiday with her triplet sisters, too - and it's not long before Selma feels like the odd one out. Can their shared love of butterflies bring Selma and Tina together again?

Did you know that Jacqueline has also recently turned her hand to writing historical books, including Hetty Feather, Clover Moon and modern-day retellings of classic stories including Katy (based on What Katy Did) and Four Children and It (based on Five Children and It). And we're giving you the chance to read (or re-read!) some of these titles, and more. All you need to do is tell us...

Did you have a favourite Jacqueline Wilson book growing up? Do your DCs have different favourites today? Let us know to win a whole library of Jacqueline Wilson books, worth £100.

Butterfly Beach is just £1 or FREE with your child's World Book Day token.

This discussion is sponsored by Penguin Random House and ends on 16 March

I loved 'The Illustrated Mum' - I starting reading it while babysitting many years ago. The little girl I was babysitting loved Jacqueline Wilson books & had been telling me about them & showing me her collection. I literally couldn't put it down & was praying the parents would be late back so I could finish it!
I remember being shocked that what I perceived as such adult issues - namely Mental Health - were addressed in a book aimed at children. I now work in Mental Health & celebrate books like this, that encourage an awareness, stimulate conversation & hopefully eliminate the stigma of mental illness.
This is still one of my favourite books - even as an adult!

My 9 year old son has always loved Tracy Beaker and I'm thrilled he can see the story of a girl and relate to it so easily.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 20/02/2017 16:56

I grew up reading Jacqueline Wilson books, and even met her once, I'm not sure I had a favourite as I really did love them all

I have given these books as gifts to nieces, nephews, godchild, friends children... And of course often persuade dd that it would be good bedtime reading Wink the boxset is often reasonably priced and makes a great gift. Dd likes the character biscuits because he is funny and a good friend, and even the name is funny

CopperPan · 20/02/2017 17:33

DD loved Tracey Beaker and although I didn't read her books when I was younger, I enjoyed reading them too. The TV series was great.

kineticmagnetic · 20/02/2017 19:01

I loved Jacqueline Wilson books, my favourite is still Falling Apart which is way too grown up for my 6 year old DD. As a class in school we wrote to her and got a reply (which I still have!)
My DD loves Double Act and The Suitcase Kid. I need to buy more recent books when I get the chance.

HelsinkiLights · 20/02/2017 19:23

My nearly 10 year old DD adores Jacqueline Wilson. She's currently reading the 'Four Children & It'.
We got her 'Clover Moon' as one of her Christmas presents and I read it too. It is very good. As we had both read the book we could discuss what happened & our idea that the ending left it open to a sequel.
Her favourite JW book at the moment is 'Sapphire Battersea'. My DD has asked for the next Hetty Feather installment 'Emerald Star's for her birthday.
Jacqueline Wilson has encouraged my daughter to read, to love reading & also to broaden her horizons to trying different authors.
As mentioned earlier the themes in JW's books are relevant to all children not just girls. The themes help children to make sense of the bigger world & also their own world. The themes have also allowed my DD & I to open up to each other. DD now finds it easier to share her hopes & fears.
Finally DD says if she has any children she will pass on her Jacqueline Wilson books to them to read.
DD only has 5 of Jacqueline's books but if she were to win a £100 of Jacqueline Wilson books then you would hear DD screaming in excitement & see her cartwheeling across the village Smile.

I'm another one who's too old to have read them for myself. My daughter is just about to hit the right kind of age for them so I'm looking forward to discovering them. We've listened to the audiobook of The Cat Mummy which went down well.

Anj123 · 20/02/2017 19:42

I haven't read any Jacqueline Wilson books but my daughter has and is a huge fan. Her favourite is Opal Plumstead.

Rae1000 · 20/02/2017 20:09

Too old for these books really though I have to admit I have been enjoying reading them with my eldest daughter at bedtime. Reading Rent a Bridesmaid at the moment. Fab!

DramaInPyjamas · 20/02/2017 20:20

I wasn't really aware of Jacqueline Wilsons books (sorry Jacqueline!) when I was growing up (you would usually find me at the Point Horror section!)

My daughter is one of her biggest fans though, she hasn't read them all yet and is slowly working her way through them - our local library has been kind enough to order her in some of the less popular(?) ones that they didn't have in stock.

Her favourite at the moment is Hetty Feather which she is reading as part of her Victorian topic at school
The CBBC adaptation is also a favourite of hers.

She'd love to meet JW, all her previous appearances and signings have been too far for us, hopefully one day! Smile

skippink · 20/02/2017 20:22

I was a huge Jacqueline Wilson fan growing up,I throughly enjoyed watching Tracy beaker on tv and I was joined to the book club to receive regular Jacqueline Wilson books, letters and gifts. I could not wait until she realeased a new book. I have kept all the books from when I was a child to pass on to my own daughter...she is now coming up to the age of reading them.
My favourite book was the illustrated mum...just because it was a stereotypical family,it showed another side to family life.
My daughter has only just started reading them so she hasn't chosen her favourite yet!

skippink · 20/02/2017 20:24

Sorry was meant to say not a stereotypical family!

Valski · 20/02/2017 20:25

Probably still the older novels that resonate the most for me and my two DD's. Lose count of the number of times we have read The Worry Website as one of my DD's is autistic and has difficulty interpreting her friends and classmates behaviour. The Mum-Minder gets an airing v frequently although I admit to slipping that one in (often when I need a bit of TLC) and Clean Break as we love the egg cups on the front!! We saw Hetty Feather live on stage locally and we loved it too! After that the girls didn't want to watch the TV adaptation in case it was too different. With the oldest one only 8, we have yet to mature into the books aimed at a slightly older audience but for us Jacqueline Wilson can do no wrong! xx

12sambo · 20/02/2017 20:28

my sister jodie is my daughters favourite

sopsmum · 20/02/2017 20:28

My daughter aged 8 is a big hetty feather fan. She also rewrote one of the stories in her own words from angus' perspective. I think he was the brother but he may have been made up too........

stewaris · 20/02/2017 20:36

Mine was Tracey Beaker and my daughters was Opal Plumstead.

vienetta · 20/02/2017 20:37

The Tracy Beaker series 😀

chopchopchop · 20/02/2017 20:40

DD has been turned into a suffragette and feminist by Opal Plumstead (v pleased about this!) but her favourite book is Double Act, which I think she could probably recite!

Mozarmstrong · 20/02/2017 20:42

Her books are amazing. Tracy Beaker is a must and makes you realise when you are in a family unit how wonderful your world is and that's what she dreams of from her children's home. Betty Feather is historical and sad but you just have to engros yourself again in her world

YettiLegs11 · 20/02/2017 20:55

My 11 year old has recently discovered JW's books and loves them. We read them at bedtime with her 8 year old sister - we are currently reading Tracy Beaker and she is reading Best Friends by herself.

She has dyslexia but really enjoys reading JW's books. I buy the books second hand when I can as she wants them all so I do what I can.

Going to google to see if we can find a fan club for the girls to join.

tworonnies1957 · 20/02/2017 21:06

the kids just love Jacqueline Wilsons the Werepuppy one those laugh out books that as the kids rolling with laughter been read so many times would say it one there bedtime Favs

MistyRose2 · 20/02/2017 21:08

I loved The Cat Mummy when I was young, I had pet cats and was a bit obsessed with them (crazy cat lady in the making)! But aside from that, this book was special to me, as like the girl in the book, I lost a parent at a young age. It really helped me understand what it meant to grieve.

yawningbear · 20/02/2017 21:11

Hetty Feather series has been the biggest hit. Dd has dyslexia & can't read to herself so I have read them to her & really quite enjoyed them too. Like a pp we are also hoping on the next instalment. Currently reading the Lottie Project.

Nanalou · 20/02/2017 21:22

My daughter read all of Jacqueline Wilson's books when she was younger, and I couldn't wait for her to finish them so I could read them. My favorite was the Illustrated Mum and my daughter's was Tracey Beaker

2014newme · 20/02/2017 21:26

As a teen I loved Nobody's Perfect and Amber. Not sure if they are still available. My dds favourite is Opal Plumstead. It's really nice seeing her enjoying the same author did. It's something we can talk about together. Dd read Katy and was then inspired to read the original What Katy Did series which again was something we enjoyed sharing.
Thanks,Jacqueline fir being such a brilliant author fir site many years. I am 46 and still enjoying your books via my children.
