We play hide things in the garden - its usually just some toy figures. Keep my 2 year old and 4 year old entertained for hours!

ftovey7 · 28/08/2016 16:40

We've been making the most of the outdoors, walks in the local country park playing hide and seek in the tall trees and spotting wildlife, walks in the forest where they have a Gruffalo and Stick Man trail, and many walks along the stoney beaches in our coats when the weather isn't great (best time to go as nice and quite and its lovely to smell the fresh sea air). We also got some adult scooters so we could have some family scooting trips and have been cycling along the river/quay

lnice · 29/08/2016 16:57

Pokemon Go and lots of picnics :)

angiehoggett · 29/08/2016 19:59

I encourage them to go out on their bikes and we plan days out in the countryside

Maiyakat · 29/08/2016 21:14

DD will travel long distances on her scooter or pushing her doll's pram, much less whinging than just walking!

meggysar · 30/08/2016 08:25

We try and encourage outdoor activities as much as possible such as bike riding and game playing as well as swimming and football team practice!

zbody1 · 30/08/2016 14:35

I'm lucky my oldest loves tennis , and there is a tennis camp at the local school she escapes too . The youngest is just naturally energetic . So at least once a week we plan a "physical" day. But even on days we don't I try to make every activity with him involve some kind of exercise . It might be setting a challenge in the house to collect things , when we are out to find things etc.

When the grandchildren come to stay we try to balance indoor/outdoor activities whatever the time of year. They love being outside and need little encouragement to be active. Swimming is a particular favourite as is the local play park. We also like to spend time sharing books or just reading by ourselves cuddled up on the sofa. We never timetable the whole day as we all need a bit of breathing space and chill out time. Granddaughter loves to draw and colour, while grandson loves computer games. Oh, I almost forgot they love cooking and baking with Nan. Their busy mum just doesn't have enough hours in her day for this:)

aligiraffe · 30/08/2016 22:04

I am ashamed to admit but Pokemon Go has been great for getting my 15 year old outdors with his friends. They usually only comunicate through game machines!

glmcall123 · 30/08/2016 22:04

At the start of the holidays I got my three youngest to write activities on small pieces of paper which we put in a jar. Whenever we get bored we pick a piece of paper from the jar.

vixxx666 · 30/08/2016 22:26

we've been luucky with weather mostly so been to the park lots, spent time in the garden!

webkin · 30/08/2016 23:22

I have been taking my niece geocaching and pokemon hunting.

HopefulHamster · 31/08/2016 00:28

Step one: buy trampoline that's probably a little too big for the garden.

Step two: throw kids into garden.

The end.

daisyduck123 · 31/08/2016 00:50

Each of them has a go at planning a cheap and fun adventure day. We've done beach sandcastles, picnics, exploring rockpools. crabbing. camping. bug hunts, blackberry picking and cooking.

clairewilko29 · 31/08/2016 12:05

we have done all sorts, been to seaside, york, soap box racing, local farms, parks and picnics

spanglisher · 31/08/2016 12:20

By careful planning and getting involved. We have at least one big day out a week; theme park, museum, beach etc. which all start with a long walk to the station, one trip to the Lido or park, one cinema trip with walk to bus stop in town, and days playing in the garden with neighbourhood friends. Most activities have cost little more than travel by using loyalty points, newsletter vouchers etc.

ipanda · 31/08/2016 12:37

Doing craft activities, chores, helping out, going out for walks or walks to the store rather than taking car & setting small rewards for completed tasks.

TiggersAngel7774 · 31/08/2016 13:25

pokemon go app really helps as he often would complain legs too tired to go to park now he is always happy to

emily13 · 31/08/2016 14:05

Dessallara · 31/08/2016 15:11

We are having our lunch somewhere outside every day if the weather lets us! my daughter loves it :)

user1472654482 · 31/08/2016 16:12

We have been to a park or beach each day. I'm more tired than they are!

clarabella12 · 31/08/2016 16:43

lots of trips to the park

Jocelynne123 · 31/08/2016 17:22

We love to spend time with our dogs so we do a lot involving them. For example take them for a walk, a picnic to the lake, the beach ect xx
