Hello all
I have been reserving library books to read to DS that I enjoyed as a child.

I was wondering if you would be so kind to re-jog my memory of more book by letting me know your favourite stories if you were a primary school child in this era.

Many thanks!

Sorry to hijack, OP, but can anyone help me identify these series?
one set of books I read as a child was a series set in Scandinavia about an orphan girl called Anna;
another was a series about a girl called Rose who lived in a hotel and could travel into other people's heads with the help of a magical horse.
Any help identifying these very much appreciated! I can't track them down!

I'm just re-reading A Break in the Sun by Bernard Ashley. It was one of my favourite books - and TV dramas - when I was about 12. It's beautifully written and still as relevant now as it was then, perhaps even more so. It's about an unhappy girl who runs away from her harsh stepfather, back to Margate where she used to live.
I ordered it from the library - pleased to find it was still available.
