if you were a child in the 80's, what was your favourite book?

Hello all
I have been reserving library books to read to DS that I enjoyed as a child.

I was wondering if you would be so kind to re-jog my memory of more book by letting me know your favourite stories if you were a primary school child in this era.

Many thanks!

The Magic Faraway Tree. I'm looking forward to reading that one to my DS when he's here!

The Incredible Adventures of Professor Branstawm and my Naughty Little Sister books. I also remember some journals we used to read about a Jabberwocky?

Nearly all of those mentioned, plus swallows and Saxons and Nancy Drew and the swish if the curtain.

I was just going to post The Faraway Tree but I've been beaten to it. I adored that book.

Also mostly anything by Enid Blyton - The Secret Seven, The Famous Five, Malory Towers, The Naughtiest Girl, The Five Find Outers..........

I loved Enid Blyton but I've avoided introducing them to my son because it's all so sexist. I don't know if I'm being a bit OTT though.

Hopper I think that Enid Blyton was to an extent a writer for her time. Have you tried the Helen Moss adventure island books? They are more contemporary but similar themes.

I used to love 'I am David'. I can still remember the plot in great detail as I read it so many times, whereas I sometimes forget recent books.

I also used to like all the Judy Blume books, the Animals of Farthing Wood, Danny the Champion of the World and Matilda, the Five Children and It books, the Little House on the Prarie books, any Enid Blyton (despite it being un-PC), and Anne of Green Gables amongst others.
