From the award-winning Kes Gray and the winner of the Roald Dahl Funny Prize, Jim Field, comes an hilarious rhyming tale about a frog who discovers that all animals have their special places to sit!

Cats sit on mats, hares sit on chairs, mules sit on stools and gophers sit on sofas, but Frog does not want to sit on a log! Jam-packed with animals and silliness, this original rhyming story will have young children in fits of laughter.

'An absolute treat.' - Daily Mail

'Hilarious illustrations and rhymes which are easy to recite and join in. Everyone will love it.' - The Guardian

Tell us about the funniest places you've found your pet hiding (or post a picture!) to be in with a chance to win a copy of Oi Frog! plus a Christmas hamper from Waitrose which includes two bottles of wine, Prosecco, almond biscuits, savoury crumbles, flavoured nuts plus much, much more.

We came home on a hot day in the summer to find our terrier curled up in the fridge. She had used a wooden spoon as a lever to open the door, and removed enough food to make a space for herself on the shelf. The food was just dumped on the floor. On another occasion, after we had just laid a cork floor, we came back and found her washing her paws in her water bowl, trying to remove the very sticky fragments of cork flooring from her feet after she had torn up and shredded some of the tiles. She was mad, but always made us laugh!

We have two cats Magic and Mischief, and they love sleeping in odd places, this has to be one of the weird ones in front of the unlit fire?

When I was younger we had a rather large goldfish called Tinker who had a tendency to jump out of his tank - many times he fell down the sofa and we had to pick him up quickly and pop him back in the tank. We came in one day though and found him lying in the middle of the living room floor, flapping about with the dog stood over him watching! Luckily we came in when we did or I suspect the dog may have had a fishy treat...

hufflebottom · 24/11/2015 11:31

A kitten we had when I was younger curled up in my mums dolls house it had managed to get in through the front door and curled up in one of the rooms.

Our dog Zebedee has found his toy box. He always finds things for us mostly socks. One day he came into the front room when my mother in law was visiting looking very pleased with himself. He'd managed to get into my bedside top drawer and presented my mother in law with my ahem battery operated boyfriend.😂 I didn't know where to look lol.

We had an escaped hamster and found her on the stairs having been cornered by the cat. Sooty the cat was on the stair above, preventing the hamster from climbing up further but had no interest in chasing or catching said rodent! Sooty (who is sadly no more), had delusions of grandeur and fancied herself as a human.

My lovely rat, Ratilda, used to love sneaking inside my pillowcase and curling up to sleep. She had free reign of my bedroom and was litter trained - she was in general a very cool rat indeed.

One day, DH (my then boyfriend) came round. Ratilda was asleep in the corner of my pillowcase. He laid his head back onto my pillow with no idea she was there, and woke her up Grin

I've never seen anyone jump so high.

Here's my lovely Bobby when he was a kitten. He'd already decided he was superior to the rest of the family and still likes looking down on us!

Our late beloved Westy, Misty used to hate it when we went away without her. When the suitcase was out of the loft and on the bedroom floor she would lay on the top of the clothes already in the case and look up at us as if to say "not without me you don't"!!

I found our dearly departed hamster up high on a shelf once.

It scared the living daylights out of me as I had no idea that it was out of it's cage. Heard a noise and saw him look down at me The he continued to climb up the books and try to get to the next shelf.

Well, our Maine Coon cat was hard to find the other day, as she blended into the background. See if you can spot her:-)

The family cat likes sleeping in the bath. Quite a surprise when it comes to using the bathroom and you don't expect to see them there!

papaver · 30/11/2015 14:47

My cat used to stay with my grandmother when we went away. This was fine but he was a bit of a hater / hunter of all things feathered and at the time my grandmother had a budgie. Early one morning she heard a commotion and went into the sitting room to find the budgie flying around the room. When she then took the night-time cover off the budgie cage she found the cat inside the cage. He was a black and white so did look similar to Sylvester!

AGrinWithoutACat · 30/11/2015 14:59

My childhood pets were escape artist hamsters, one woke my dad up in the middle of the night having stuffed his cheeks with orange peel and proceeded to spit each bit out at him.

Another hamster (black) escaped and I found it charging round the living room followed by the (white) cat and then poor Dad on his hands and knees after the pair of them

We also had Guinea pigs that lived in an open cage in the kitchen which the cat thought was a great place to sleep

And just to add a few shivers the snake figured out how to get the lid of its tank and liked curling up under my pillow

Grin

(Disclaimer, cages were secured after these attempts and no animal was ever harmed!)

I used to live in a 9th floor flat. My two cats were house cats and never went out. One day, one of them vanished. Door had not been opened, windows were not open. There was no way she could have left the flat yet we could not find her anywhere. Searched for over an hour and was becoming panicked.

We had a tall bookcase in the hall and the light switch was behind it. There was a gap just wide enough to slip your hand in to turn the light on and off. The missing cat was eventually found when it got dark and DH went to turn the light on. There she was, squashed flat in the narrowest of gaps. She must have jumped onto the top of the bookcase and somehow slipped down. No idea how long she'd been there. If the silly creature had miaowed, we'd have found her and rescued her instantly.

Her sister used to jump on top of the bathroom door and lie there. Several times she came close to being squished when someone went to shut the door without spotting her up there.

My youngest cat is a naughty tortie and this was where I found him last year whilst trying to decorate the christmas tree

Rosie is Queen of odd places to sleep - a box of Lego seemed a slightly uncomfortable choice - but this is my favourite place we've found her!

I don't have a picture. But I came into the bedroom once and was a bit shocked to find my underwear strewn all across the floor. The cat had decided to nap in my underwear drawer, and had cleared it out a bit first so he could fit in.

Chrisalice · 08/12/2015 12:04

I rarely go out leaving other half in charge, but one evening recently I decided he was responsible enough to look after puppy for a couple of hours. When I got home he admitted he had lost her for a period and had searched everywhere including checking she was not stuck behind the sofa or under the coffee table. With rising panic he had gone outside to check the garden for the 3rd time and glancing back at the house spotted her laying on the windowsill, behind the curtains, waiting patiently for my return.

perkyhayley · 08/12/2015 12:21

My tortoise should have been named Houdini since he was forever escaping! Just a few of the places he was found include wandering up the A19, going across the road via pelican crossing towards a sweet shop, a grave yard, and on a rooftop! He has been missing now since 1999, so keep your eyes peeled...

fuzzpig · 08/12/2015 12:44

Unfortunately I don't have the photo anymore (and don't currently have pets :() but the funniest place I found my cat was in a box of tea. He had jumped onto the counter and attacked my mum's box of peppermint tea bags. When we found him, he was on the floor and had nuzzled the box so much he'd put his head through the bottom. So he was wearing the box as a sort of collar, surrounded by slightly ripped teabags. He'd never looked happier, the scoundrel :o

Oi Frog! is a BRILLIANT book BTW my DCs have had it from the library a few
times (but we don't own it. Just saying.)

Small Dog likes to hide, we've found her in the wash basket sleeping on dirty clothes, in the ironing basket sleeping on clean ones Xmas Hmm, in the cupboard under the sink (no idea how she got in), in our wardrobe, in DS's car seat looking very pleased with herself, and once in my friend's very large handbag, although that could have been a dognap attempt by my friend rather than a hiding place by the dog Xmas Grin

We've also found her at a neighbours barbecue, where she'd been for quite some time before we realised she was gone, and where she had apparently had eight sausages and a burger before they realised she wasn't meant to be at the party and brought her home.

Even Smaller Dog once spent a happy nap time sleeping in the sleeve of my coat, which had fallen off the coat hooks and landed on the floor. He'd crawled in and gotten cosy.

One of our cats is the champion at hide and seek. The funniest time was when we had searched high and low and thought he must have escaped. Dh then went to play his Sax and out shot the cat from a corner of the room.
