We have 24 squares to fill. What lines get trotted out on every thread that discusses the child free?

My suggestions:

  1. You'll need my children to be your carers when you're old
  2. Only parents understand real love
  3. Childfree people shouldn't take annual leave in school holidays

I actually find babies appealing (when they are smiling and gurgling). It doesn't mean I ever wanted one. I like little dogs, as well - the terriers that trot along beside their owner and look up at them trustingly. I don't want one of those, either.

Purely academic admiration, you might say.

ItsNotRocketSalad · 31/07/2023 13:15

I feel that way about tarantulas. I find them very interesting and like looking from afar, but I wouldn't to cuddle one.

I prefer cats.

That's why babies are cute and cuddly, with goofy smiles and big eyes.

That's a matter of opinion. To me they look like elderly wizards or misshapen blobs. Grin

(Oops, there go the child-hating childfree on their board of bitterness and envy!)

Or, to quote Nancy Mitford in Love in a Cold Climate: “a howling orange in a wig”.

With which I agree entirely Grin

PG Wodehouse had a good one - 'looking like homicidal fried egg.'

They are constantly on actives.
We get you don't want kids but you seem to enjoy taking the mick out of parents.

Yup

FufferPish · 31/07/2023 17:45

Can I add: "Your mere existence offends me, you superfluous CF person"

coeurnoir · 31/07/2023 18:58

Not me, but to my childfree sister when she told one of our sister in laws about a cancer scare she was having (luckily all fine)

"Good job it's you and not me, other sister in law or coeur as we all have children to think about and if you die you won't be ruining someone's life"

Cunt.

InceyWinceySpidy · 31/07/2023 17:31

Yup

You do know that you’re not compelled to post on every thread that appears on actives right? Or has that blown over your head?

I see tons of threads on actives that don’t concern or interest me. Know what I do? Ignore them and scroll until I find one that does.

You might not believe it but it’s really that simple. You should give it a try sometime. May even save the threads from more of your utter nonsense.

JorisBonson · 31/07/2023 19:19

InceyWinceySpidy · 31/07/2023 17:31

Yup

Could you show us some links to these threads where we are rude about parents?

That is absolutely awful. I hope your sister is okay and doing well.

I’ve heard someone say that someone posted on MN that in cases of emergency parents should be saved above people who don’t have kids. Vile.

I didn’t see it myself so it is just hearsay but given some of the nonsense I’ve seen being said to CF people namely women I can believe it.

Yup*

Still waiting for examples. I mean, if there are so many they can't be THAT hard to find and link, can they?

coeurnoir · 31/07/2023 19:35

@CleverLilViper she's absolutely fine thanks, she found a lump in her breast but it was a calcium lump. All good now, but she had a scary couple of weeks.

I've heard a few things when I was working in A&E years ago around how sad it was that someone died as they had kids, and of course if a parent dies or injured, then the media have to mention it. It is annoying as a parent, to be honest, that if I'm found slaughtered one day I'll just be described as my kids mother, when I'm more than that. Sorry...

coeurnoir · 31/07/2023 19:37

Btw parents bitch about and judge other parents far more than childfree people do. Go onto any thread here where a mum is struggling and the perfect parents will come out in their droves to make her feel like shit.

Catchasingmewithspiders · 31/07/2023 19:46

InceyWinceySpidy · 31/07/2023 17:31

Yup

I mean you've posted multiple times on this thread alone thereby being one of the people making it appear in active

You are a parent whose whole reason for posting multiple times on a childfree thread seems to be to tell us we are doing it wrong. But sure we are the ones being mean to the parents 🙄

ItsNotRocketSalad · 31/07/2023 19:51

I've heard that one too. It was some wanky training course at work, and one of the activities described a group of people stranded after their plane crashed. The rescue helicopter could only take one at once and we had to decide who was rescued first. One of the attendees said all those with children should go first. I found it really disturbing.

I knew I recognised the name. Got handed one's arse on here, tried to set up another thread moaning about us and was deleted PDQ.

Thats the one, seems weirdly obsessed with telling us all how terrible we are

Strange really give how busy parents are that she has the time

And don’t get me started on the MIL threads! Posters, the majority of them mums themselves, absolutely slating other mothers (the clue is in the name, MILs) yet they didn’t want us here in case we said horrible things about mums… 🤦‍♀️

Doing it wrong?

No, just being deliberately obtuse.

Lol. Again. No.

Anyone who challenges anything you say is, let me see, "obsessed" (behave yourself) "telling us how terrible we are" (again, no, and this was my point before, this constant exaggeration of what people have said, to proclaim how awful they are to you, when in all honestly no one particularly cares)

Oh, and my thread wasn't "moaning" that's more fabrication, it was asking a question, I had regarding people who chose to be child free, which I had shockingly asked on the child free section...to which I was told "get off our board" So I did and which I did contact MN about, and they confirmed anyone is free to post/comment where they like. I simply need to report anyone behaving as such in the future. My thread was simply deleted as I couldn't be arsed to re-type my question, and lazily screenshot my post from here, so just seen as a TAAT, nothing more, nothing less.

Catchasingmewithspiders · 31/07/2023 21:48

Ooh someone telling me to behave myself 😂

Its amazing how many post one person can make about how much they just don't care

Cakesandbabes · 31/07/2023 21:49

The thread was on aibu

Catchasingmewithspiders · 31/07/2023 21:49

Anyway I will stop now, if we keep poking she just keeps on going taking up all the space. We may need to resort to cute animals again
