We have 24 squares to fill. What lines get trotted out on every thread that discusses the child free?

My suggestions:

1. You'll need my children to be your carers when you're old
2. Only parents understand real love
3. Childfree people shouldn't take annual leave in school holidays

I absolutely believe you that you were tireder with a young baby, night feeds and broken sleep. Sleep deprivation is horrendous and you talking about it doesn't offend me in the slightest.

What we have actually seen though quite frequently is women without children who either have bad health issues or disabilities or who are nursing people with health issues or disabilities being told they absolutely cannot be as tired as a parent.

And watching someone who is nursing their parent through a terminal illness be told she doesn't know what real tiredness is tends to be quite offensive.

That's the kinds of comments we are reacting to. The sweeping assumption that all parents are always going to be tireder than all childfree people.

Alongside that there is often tiredness Olympics. If a mother in an office saying "Im tired" she will often get sympathy, if a childfree person does its fairly regular for someone to pipe up "just wait till you have children/you don't have children, that's real tiredness"

Like I was moaning I had a bit of insomnia Sandra, not trying to claim the prize for tiredest person in the world.

One of my how ever many GGM had seventeen. Now SHE was entitled to know what tiredness was.

On a quick read, I didn't recognize any of the names. They made good points (in our favour!).

True story: I was once on shift with a nurse who looked me dead in the eye and said “She (patient) said her pain was 10/10. She mustn’t have ever been in labour…🙄” We were working in a hospice, on our way to give analgesia to a terminally ill woman.

I mean, the nurse was a known arsehole, but people do really say these things.

Nope! She has no idea what tired is. I know there’s a family with 22 kids, your GGM is nowhere near that, she’s basically sleeping beauty in comparison.

I have trigeminal neuralgia which is one of the most painful conditions known to occur. Medical professionals often rate it more painful than childbirth and I am on a forum with people with this condition and all of the mums on there agree its worse than childbirth.

And unlike childbirth it can happen once or twice a day not once or twice a life

And yet I'm still not driven to tell women talking about childbirth than they don't know what real pain is. Mostly because pain is crappy no matter the level and just because you have slightly worse pain doesn't make the slightly less worse pain anyway less painful.

But then I lack empathy apparently so who knows

With reference to platypusses (platypi?), has anyone heard the sublime John Finnemore sketch about the creation - a round table discussion on creating new animals. Such as tiny lions who live in your house but don't love you. And platypusses. It's worth a listen if you can find it - also the GNU song

All these animals are so cute! I need to make friends with marsupial pets, all my friends only have the standard animals for me to play with but I’d like to pet an eastern quoll once in a while 😂

I have blood cancer and have check up every three months with my oncologist. While I'm waiting I have to fill in a sheet detailing what symptom if any I've had and their severity from 1/10. I'd be very, very annoyed INDEED if my symptoms were at a 10 and were dismissed as 'you must not ever have been in labour, then.'
