IMHO some people have gone batty

Some of the mad ideas I have read on here in last couple of days

Bonkerz the lot of them

How they treat their nannies or au pairs

They work long hours for not much pay.

There are some very fair parents who are working hard AND treat their au pair with

RESPECT

KINDNESS

But others

who spend all their time finding something to moan about.........

Why can they not treat them the same way they would like their DD to be treated if she wanted to become an au pair?

Would they want their DD to work in same circumstances?

LOOKING AFTER CHILDREN IS THE MOST IMPORTANT JOB IN THE WORLD

THEY ARE OUR FUTURE

It is also the best job in the world and the most fun,

seeing their faces when they have completed a jigsaw puzzle

learnt how to build a tower with 3 bricks

Please remember to treat others as you would like to be treated

.......

I work in a 'vocation' - I am a teacher ( on mat leave now) and get fed up of people saying 'why do all teachers moan about their pay/conditions/job stress etc if you knew what it would be like?' in other words put up with it and shut up! then on THAT OTHER THREAD a certain person slagged off my profession implicitly as something any old tosser could do since it is not well paid .Which has made me rather cross!!!!

RTKangaMummy · 21/04/2005 14:49

Blu am sure you were

There are sooooooooooooo many parents on here that show respect to those who are guiding the next generation or as SAHM or SAHD who do it themselves.

Whoever they are and however old the children are

RESPECT FOR ALL

Donnie I think the problem is that these others

don't see how important a job guiding children to become our future is

I think they are completly BATTY

WHY can't they see what you put in you get out in the future?

My whole family, back to grandparents are teachers, I am married to one too

OP posts:
RTKangaMummy · 21/04/2005 14:58

Sorry Issymum you have missed the point of what I am saying

If the children are just left with no guidance or teaching thoughout their young lives from whoever it may be

What kind of president or manager of BP or Doctors or politicians will there be in the future?

OP posts:
RTKangaMummy · 21/04/2005 15:03

If you don't believe in that

Why have children if not for the future?

Someone needs to guide them, don't they?

Otherwise why send children to school at all?

why not just let them play in the garden or fields?

Until they are old enough to have more children?

Who would be president then?

I wouldn't rely on a nanny or childminder to do that teaching, kanga (especially with some of the attitudes we have seen here and on NJ recently). I still took responsibility for my own kids' upbringings when they were at a childminder.

My former childminder's daughter left school with no GCSE passes (and is now working in a nursery incidentally), and that is not what we have in mind for our children.

Does that mean I didn't respect her? No, of course not. She is an extremely loving, caring and dedicated person and we are still in touch 8 years later. She had her role and I have mine.

Oh, and I paid her what she asked for.

watershipdown · 21/04/2005 15:20

Well Happymum
I have been confused from the word go and would love to know what thread led to this one so i could get a grip on things.
Oh well, I'll just have to retreat back into the darckness under my duvet.

Ameriscot2005 · 21/04/2005 15:21

Childcarers jobs are dependent on the parents jobs - therefore, by definition, less important. This doesn't mean that it does not have value.

RTKangaMummy · 21/04/2005 15:29

Teachers?

Also, If one is at work for 12 hours a day when does one have time to influence what one's child learns?

You have to put your trust in others don't you?

If you are refering to me personally about my qualifications what makes you think I have been educated to a lesser level than you?

I think that is actually quite rude to imply because someone wants to teach young people they are not educated

What is the future then?

or

Must read thread with implication that any old tosser can teach - what a hilarious idea!

Did the high powered, very well paid corporate job for 12 years, then did a PGCE and went into teaching.

What a bloody shock that was - didn't know what hard work was until I became a teacher!

eefs · 21/04/2005 15:41

Sorry KM but I also find the spacing and constant constant smileys annoying. I'm scrolling up to start your post then have to scroll back down to read it all.

Glad I have been in a meeting all day!

Well said Issymum, in general you will get what you pay for.

RTK, the smileys and spacing ARE especially annoying when I am supposed to be at work and trying to look at this thread on a corner of my monitor!

RTKangaMummy · 21/04/2005 15:49

sorry eefs

Puff some people just don't understand do they

What goes in comes out in future!!!

Children then turn into adults to then get the jobs ruling the world or whatever they choose.

Bozza · 21/04/2005 15:49

Issymum I agree totally - very well put.

skeptic · 21/04/2005 15:51

Have you been drinking, RTKM?

Marina · 21/04/2005 15:52

Donnie, where does it say any old tosser can teach ? Don't like the sound of that...

RTKangaMummy · 21/04/2005 15:56

OOOPS sorry I just don't want it to get angry just IMHO
Children do need to be guided
I do not have a problem with parents who respect their children's carer or teacher

If you work or you don't that is NOT the point I am trying to make

Who knows whose child will be the next prime minister or top surgeon or boss of BP

We don't so we should IMHO treat all children and those who guide them {whoever they are} with respect.

OP posts:
skeptic · 21/04/2005 15:56

Why are we comparing teachers with childminders and nannies? The amount of education, training and ongoing development is completely different.

Saying that, plenty of people have a natural affinity for teaching, but they still have to learn pedagogy and other bits and pieces before actually becoming a fully fledged teacher.
