Right, as mentioned in the staffroom, there is definitely something in the water!! Due to there being a few of us now, I thought we should have a thread to keep tabs on when everyone is due etc.

I'll put the info I know so far, come and add yourself/your details or even better, copy and paste this list and update accordingly

Crace - C-section booked for ??? May
Looneytune - EDD 23rd June (BOY)
eleanorsmum - EDD ????
MamaG - EDD ???

I know there are others but I just can't remember now (don't you just love the pregnancy brain!). Tori has her baby last night and I think another had theirs recently too but still thought there were more pregnant C/Ms????

Well, what a mental day!!!

SIL arrived around 10ish followed very quickly by midwife for checkup. Then dh's mate who landed today from Oz (here for a wedding) heard the news and asked if he could come over (not seen him for 5 yrs) so he was here couple of hours. I went for a shower and Dr arrived whilst I was drying but she was in and out. Had some food then me, dh and ds2 went to pick ds1 up from school. I wouldn't have gone out so soon but midwife said I needed to go to hospital for anti-d injection and said it should be fine for a short walk to school.

Well, at school, everyone wanted a look at 24 hr old baby, some asked for cuddles etc. so we were there a short time. Then I nearly passed out from standing too long so we soon left and went to hospital for my jab.

Joshua basically hadn't fed since his big feed after birth and couple of very small feeds. Poor love was worn out from the birth and just wanted to sleep and refused boob. Anyway, after the fresh air waking him up, when we got back me and ds2 came to bed for the rest of the day. This was around 5ish and we've been snuggled in bed ever since. He pretty much fed from each side in turns for 3ish hours!! It was lovely to see him making up for not having any before

Will now attempt birth story.....

Birth Story.........

Thursday 19th June

3am - contractions started at 10 mins apart but bearable. Tried to sleep but felt should time them so went downstairs and used online contraction timer. At some point later on I came on MN for advice - where else can you get advice at such an hour

5ish - phoned number I was given for when went into labour. They got midwife to call me back.

5.20ish - got phonecall from very tired sounding midwife asking questions and saying I should call back when get stronger (I felt I didn't want to make her come out until I had to)

6.30ish - when dh woke up, told him I was in labour. He starts saying 'are you ok' every time I had pain and I explained I'd been doing this by myself for last 3 and half hours and not to panic

8ish - dh started setting up birthing pool

8.30ish - phoned midwife's mobile and she was wide awake and attending another homebirth round the corner and said was surprised I hadn't called earlier. She was lovely and not long until she was done there and came to mine.

Bless the midwife, she was already tired after a busy night (had 3 homebirths before mine - must be down to the full moon! ). She had someone else arrive not long later and she thought I was going to be quick because of my contractions but when she did finally check me, I was only 3-4cms She didn't want me in the pool before 4cms as can slow things down.

Contractions were getting stronger and stronger and I ended up in the pool (once past 4cms). They started slowing down a bit but when topped up with hot water would suddenly come back. Not sure how long I was in the pool for but I had decided for few reasons not to birth in there in the end and as I was getting the shakes, I got out and carried on with my birthing ball etc.

I went ages without gas and air as for some reason I didn't fancy it this time. The pain of the worse contractions made me feel sick and I did throw up quite bad at one point and didn't feel like eating or drinking so hardly any energy but the midwives and my best mate (other birthing partner) were fab at making me get through the times I said 'I can't do this' lol. I tried to have gas and air to help but I just didn't want it which was weird as I loved it last time lol.

I could pretty much feel when I was almost dilated because it all felt very open downstairs Midwife listened to me, checked and I was 10cms. She broke my waters then explained I had meconium liquor so it was get the baby out asap or I'd have to be transferred to hospital. I was a bit but she was great in the way she said it all. I went on my knees and lent on the outside of the pool and pushed with all I had and it didn't take long for ds2 to arrive (3rd midwife, my personal one, arrived when just started pushing). I didn't see him because of my position but I'm pleased in the end as it turned out he had the cord VERY tight round his neck and dh said he was very very blue and it scared him. I had been told at one point to concentrate on what one particular midwife said in how to push, when to change to panting etc. and I did exactly what she said. This is how he ended up safely delivered and I just love these community midwives for how calm they were as I had no idea there was a problem, took it as being normal stuff they were saying.

My perfect little boy arrived at 2.50pm after an 11 hour 50 min labour and he was worth every minute He fed very well for the first hour but was very sleepy after but has been great again since 5ish this afternoon and been loving his skin to skin contact

Looney is very much in love with her new little baby and is also VERY VERY proud of her 5 yr old ds1 who stayed off school to be there for the whole thing and was great considering and who loves his baby brother - he's been amazing with him

Ds1 splashed about in the pool for a while after (as was clean due to me not birthing in it) and loved it and it was just such a funny thing - he had armbands on his wrists AND his ankles and it was just so funny to have that going on in the lounge

Right, I'm amazed Joshua let me type for that long whilst sleeping next to me. Time to go now I think.

Thanks for all the lovely messages etc. and catch up soon.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

LT xx

You've made me well up Sounds like it all went really well. MW's did a great job, as did you. Just shows that you can have a great birth on the NHS.

Really glad that DS2 has had a good feed now. Hope you've had another snuggly bfing day. Take lots of pictures of his head on your breast. I love to compare them over the months and see how one gets smaller as the other gets bigger. But maybe I'm just sad and mad. Right, will get off the CM thread now since I'm only an ap employer and not pg either!

libbysmummy · 24/06/2008 20:29

Hi

how are we all doing? This thread has been very quiet recently.......

Looney - I hope you are recovering nicely and enjoying a lovely babymoon - would be good to hear how you are getting on.

I had a lovely bunch of flowers and a handmade card from mindee today (He finished last week) I can't believe how much I miss him, although the peace and quiet is lovely!!

I had to run the activity at childminding group today and as I am feeling so huge and awkward went for something easy and did ice cream tasting - YUM! The kids LOVED it and were covered in various sauces, sweets and ice cream within seconds. It was quite a quiet session today so there was plenty of ice cream left over for us childminders - double YUM!

So I am on countdown now - went a bit mad at the weekend and cleaned everything in sight so am hoping things might start soon......

OFSTEDoutstanding · 09/07/2008 11:06

Just a quick check to see how the other pg childminders are getting on or are you all on maternity leave now
I have 7 weeks to go and am now big and lumbering everywhere school run exhausts me and I have given notice to the mindee I have to take dancing twicw a week as I couldn't go on spending an hour in the car especially with a new born once she is here!
Hope everyone is ok How are you libbysmummy has your little one arrived yet or are you still waiting!

libbysmummy · 09/07/2008 20:07

Hi Ofsted glad to hear all is well with you. it does start to get hard towards the end doesn't it?!

I am STILL pregnant!!! Officially due on Sat (12th) but getting extremely fed up with it all.
I am HUGE and achey and awkward and very grumpy! I think I might physically harm the next person who texts me to ask if I've had it yet!!!

I'm booked for a sweep with my consultant on Tuesday - he doesn't want me going too far over this time as I'm attempting a VBAC so that is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel and my mum is arriving from Spain at the weekend so I might relax a bit more once she is here with me.

Will let you all know when things start to happen, but so far there's nowt going on

How's everyone else getting along?? What's happened to Looney - I miss her!!!

xx

kkey21 · 10/07/2008 10:25

Hi Ladies-lovely to hear you are doing well!

I also have 7wks to go (or just less!) and am getting bigger and bigger! I have excess fluid anyway so my bump looks comical! All is very well though and i am really excited about having my new baby here soon (ish!)

I finish work next week which is a lovely thought but also really sad as i only have one mindee now two days a week and she is so lovely-myself and my son will really miss her! (They are 9mths apart and get on soooo well) But i know i need to have time off to be able to go back into it properly.....
I hope to have the full 9mths off, money pending!

Have seen Looney's updates on facebook-she looks great! Baby is such a cute little man! xx

mushumadness · 10/07/2008 21:37

hi

Im a childminder and Im 22 weeks pregnant with my first!!

just wanted to say hi

looneytune · 12/07/2008 09:56

Hi everyone, sorry for not coming back sooner, it's amazing how quick the last 3 weeks have gone!!!

Well, after a week of perfect baby and pretty much sleeping the whole time apart from feeding, we've had a pretty bad time of it with him being very unsettled a lot of the time Poor thing suffering badly with colic and we went to an osteopath who straight away noticed he had a 'reversed curve' so did a treatment to sort that. Amazing how different he was after, his wind would come up when i just sat him up, his back was straight and he looked a lot longer because suddenly he'd drop his legs, bless him. But we're still having times when it's really hard to settle him (he did get better for a day or 2, was a different baby!) so will ask osteopath about that when we go back next week.

Gosh, he's at it again. If he had his way he'd be held the whole time! Luckily putting the hoover on stopped him crying straight away so off to do that AGAIN. Only problem is ds1 gets annoyed when I put hoover on and runs away from the noise

Try and catch up later when settled. x

Oh Looney, my boy was like that, he spent most of first several weeks in a wilkinet carrier on my front so close to me, could smell me, and swaying motion of me walking etc soothed him! He's now 4 months old and doesn't have colickyness anymore, he's at that smiley stage, adores dd aged 5, and mindees age 3 and 1.

Though I am stopping with those mindees, as 1 year old very demanding and I could see that it was not going to work out, also with having to take and collect the 3 year old in car every day to pre-school as was in next village. Am sad to see her go, as have minded her since she was 10 months old, but know it's the right thing for me and ds. I'm going to stick to school runs and ad-hoc care for a while.

Gotta go, doing penultimate next-village pre-school run, hurrah!

looneytune · 15/07/2008 13:35

I wish that worked - even me holding him/in a sling etc. doesn't sooth him when he's actually in pain

Sounds good to do adhoc and after school - wish I could get after schoolers round here, I could have LOADS of under 5's if I was allowed (and of course felt I could manage) as always turning people down but after schoolers is a different matter!

Right, off to grab some lunch whilst I actually can!

Hi all

Still no baby for me Now 3 days overdue.... (the longest 3 days in history!)

I had consultant app today and I wasn't favourable at all for a sweep so have been given a potential c-section date for next Tuesday (I am attempting a VBAC and they don't want me going too far overdue)
To say I am disappointed is a bit of an understatement, so I am hoping the full moon on Thursday will get this baby out!!!!!!!

looneytune · 15/07/2008 17:58

Oh hun Good luck, the full moon worked for me

Oh my gosh! Had to come on here for a moan. I am sooooooo looking forward to maternity leave in 2 1/2 weeks time. I am so not enjoying my job right now. I'm looking after an active 11mth old full time and a 4 yr old and a 6yr old part time and am finding it so tiring. I feel guilty as I just don't have the energy to think up things to do with them and dare i say it, dread them coming.

I'm almost verging on feeling resentful towards the parents even though ots my choice.

All I want to do is sit on the sofa.

I'm nearly 32 weeks pregnant and can't walk anywhere far due to SPD, my back hurts when I carry the 11mth old and my foot really hurts too. I just can't be bothered anymore.

Need a pep talk please!!! How on earth do I entertain the kids when I'm this restricted? Does anyone else feel the same?

libbysmummy · 23/07/2008 17:37

Hi
Blimey this thread has been quiet!
Anyway, I am pleased to tell you that I finally had the baby on Monday 20th July, 8 days late.
I had a gorgeous little 8lbs boy who we have named Louie.
Had a bit of a rough time and ended up with a 34 hour labour, with no progression, ending in another c-section but my goodness he was worth it!
Home from hospital today so can finally relax and get back to normal life!

Hope all you pregnant ladies are well!

libbysmummy · 23/07/2008 17:39

oops sorry - new mum brain - he was actually born on Sunday, not Monday!!!!

OFSTEDoutstanding · 27/07/2008 20:26

Congratulations libbysmummy. Am pleased he arrived eventually safe and well. Scary to think it is my turn next! 4 weeks to go!

libbysmummy · 28/07/2008 11:04

Ofsted Hopefully the next 4 weeks will fly by for you! I know I was more than ready by that stage!!!! I hope the heat isn't too uncomfortable for you......

FruitynNutty · 29/08/2008 20:58

Hi there, can I carry this thread on?

I'm finally pregnant with DC2 after a good 11 months of really TTC 11 weeks tomorrow and slightly panicking about telling one set of parents in particular who are very particular people. I imagine they'll want to know the date and time of my birth-to-come
Also worried Ofsted will make me reduce my numbers - This is not an option for me as, like everyone else, I have bills and mortgage to pay for! Plus I know I can cope with the numbers, I was a Nanny for years and the children often had their friends over in the holidays.

Are there any other Childminders who have recently discovered they are pregnant too?

FruitynNutty · 29/08/2008 21:07

It's me Fruity btw - Or Fruitloop if you wanna be formal

kkey21 · 30/08/2008 10:37

Im still here now 3 days overdue! x
