@Loup19863 he only says mama that’s it, nursery have sent a letter in saying they have to go above universal level to help him, he failed hearing test so has to have another one, I’ve have health visitor tell me he failed his 2 year assessment and nursery said he doesn’t even tick some baby levels either just a waiting game really I think they be starting last week of August maybe x

Loup19863 · 01/01/2024 15:30

@Linacre96 sounds very much like my little boy, failed his 2 year check, still failing the 12 month old check. Did you send much evidence? My little boys nursery have just applied for 1 to 1 funding for him as he needs constant supervision when he’s there, I’m hoping the DWP contact nursery for further info. Other than that I just sent in his SALT report, a statement off his HV, a copy of the section 23 (I think it’s called) still waiting on the paediatricians report but probs won’t get that in time. Fully prepared to do a MR if declined which I think it will be. Please let me know if you hear anything x

Linacre96 · 01/01/2024 15:44

@Loup19863 i sent in his dietitian letter as he’s gluten intolerant, paediatrician letter(from hospital as he gets seen regarding his weight) he’s been referred to SALT, physiotherapist (he falls over a lot) and community paediatrician I’ve noticed he likes to spin and flaps.. he has to have juice drinks on prescription to keep his weight up, then letter from HV and Senco Nursery but that’s all I have as for now I have another meeting with nursery this month to do with his assessments but I could be waiting months for others but I will update on here once I find out but not sure how long will be with it been mismatched with timescales x

Loup19863 · 01/01/2024 15:49

@Linacre96 my little boys spins and flaps his hands too, makes repetitive sounds, doesn’t like loud noises, very limited diet, hates the feel of clothes etc so quite a lot of sensory stuff. Hopefully we will hear soon, I’ll update on here if I hear anything x

Rellz · 01/01/2024 17:28

I’m the same scan date as you, hopefully we hear something soon

Linacre96 · 01/01/2024 17:33

1/09 I’m 18 weeks Friday I think might leave it till next week to see if any decisions been made

Homesweethome93 · 01/01/2024 18:25

Hi, my little one was the exact same at 2 he got awarded middle rate when 2 he now gets highrate, he’s now 5 not much better tbh, still non verbal doesn’t feed himself but he’s been diagnosed with autism and global development delay and is going specialist school soon just been accepted for a place. I’m waiting for a renewal award but I doubt he will get same even though he’s the same and he’s been diagnosed since. it all depends who gets the paperwork. Good luck xx

Linacre96 · 01/01/2024 20:17

@Homesweethome93 i got told by few people on Facebook don’t think you’ll get accepted seems like a normal 2 year old

  • he only says mama
  • i have to feed him
  • hes on special juice prescribed by a dietitian to keep his weight on
  • he was 6 weeks premature when born
  • hes failed hearing test
  • he’s gluten intolerant
  • nursery have said he’s not even hitting baby targets there
  • HV said he’s failed 2 year assessment
now I’m just sat like well he’s gunna get declined then cause I only had letters from dietitian, hospital paediatrician, HV and nursery cause he’s been referred to SALT, physiotherapist and community paediatrician
Daniellemcm · 01/01/2024 20:29

I wouldn’t listen to other people you know yourself as a parent listen to your gut feeling, you know your child’s needs no one else. I listened to others and now feel like I am behind on everything my little one is 4 in feb and is no further along than when he was at 2 year old (nursery have said he has the mental ability of a 6month old). I had all the comments such as it’s because he is a lockdown baby he will grow out of it with nursery etc he’s been under salt a year, been waiting for paediatric referral for over 15 month. Nursery have to do 1-1 even though they don’t get funding for it and have advised he will not be ready for mainstream in September. Ignore the negative comments wishing you best of luck. This is my first time applying too & will fight for support for my LO just wish I had got the ball rolling sooner xx

Homesweethome93 · 01/01/2024 20:29

I wouldn’t go off what others have said, if you have evidence then clearly not like your typical 2 year old or they wouldn’t even give you time of day for letters to say otherwise, especially with all back log of things. Not saying your not gunna get declined but I didn’t get declined when he was 2 year old. It’s all about the wording and who you get xx

Homesweethome93 · 01/01/2024 20:30

Exactly well said, if I’d had listen to others my little one wouldn’t be diagnosed or in specialist school which as some of you may know it’s a right fight in it’s self x

Homesweethome93 · 01/01/2024 20:34

Where’s about do you live ? They all have different support systems but keep on at them and don’t stop even if you feel like you’re pestering them. This is your little one’s future no one else can say otherwise. I was none stop mine was even going to tribunal for a specialist but I kept going at the local authority and now he has a place in sep baring in mind he only got his Ehcp a few month ago, my son was 5 last week. I was told the people who just sit there will just basically be ignored (not heard ) and the people that are loud and are heard, we are our little ones voices. Keep pushing xx

Linacre96 · 01/01/2024 20:35

Honestly that’s what I thought, if they thought they was nothing wrong then they would say oh I don’t think need to apply I have a 5 year old who I was in same position at 2 year old she wasn’t doing many things nursery said nothing wrong and will grow out of it I moved her nursery’s and they pulled me up about some things she now waiting for her last appointment with ASDAT team as they believe autistic and I do believe my HV possibly thinks chance my son could be aswell I’ve seen 2 year olds in his class there talking and everything he is smallest one in there they’ve said when he goes up to next group in September he’s probably going to need extra care he can’t even climb a step they have to carry him

StrawberryDaqx · 01/01/2024 20:40

Defo ignore what others have to say I knew there was something not quite right with my DC since 3. School haven't backed me one bit said he's fine. Now diagnosed with adhd and asd at age 10 I'm so behind with everything! Starting year 7 and 0 support in place scrabbling around last minute trying to find some :( ❤️

Daniellemcm · 01/01/2024 20:46

I am Derbyshire got health visitor coming to see me this month to help do forms for EHCP am filling out myself now to try and be ready for when he due to go to school - I’ve applied for mainstream as currently have no diagnosis been told should get call in next few months to book appointment with paed but that won’t be until May at earliest (Referal was done Oct 2022). It’s so worrying as he only does 2 and half hours at nursery a day and I couldn’t bare the thought of him in mainstream if there isn’t 1-1 in place for him. The waiting times is ridiculous to get help and support. This group has been a massive help though seen some great advice from people.

KeepGoingThomas · 01/01/2024 21:24

@Daniellemcm on their website, IPSEA has a model letter you can use to request an EHCNA.

Support in school is based on needs rather than diagnosis.

Daniellemcm · 01/01/2024 22:48

@KeepGoingThomas thank you hun much appreciated. I am bit like a deer in head lights with it all at the minute. The template is very helpful and will send with application form I got from council. I presumed to apply for SEN school it was based on diagnosis as nursery are constantly asking if I have had this yet - so they can get funding so this is very helpful. I will speak to nursery next week as sounds like they have things mixed up too but no one else there has 1-1 besides my son so maybe it’s new to them too. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It makes such a difference when things are in place at an early age 😞 Two of my DSs have had very different outcomes.
My DS2 had an amazing health visitor at age 2 and she got everything rolling from a very young age because she saw what I could see, and everything flowed from then on. As a result he was diagnosed with ASD aged 3, support was all in place from school nursery class onwards, EHCP right the way through, all outside agencies involved and still are now. He’s 10 now and he’s doing amazing. He’s preparing for the next chapter of his life which is secondary school. He’s very happy and in a good place.

My DS1? 😢 He’s one of the children who all the professionals say “nope nothing wrong him”. And he’s now 13 with social anxiety, no friends, has learning difficulties, big emotional outbursts. If he had been given the diagnosis he deserved when he was younger, then he might be in a different place mentally/emotionally/socially and academically now. He’s never been given an EHCP and he should have had one years ago. CAMHS aren’t interested in him and the SENCO at his school puts up a brick wall every time I try and reach out.

StrawberryDaqx · 01/01/2024 23:20

@funinthesun19 I bet this is difficult for you having such different experiences. It's really a luck of early professional involvement sometimes isn't it.

Sometimes I just think if your not going to help before or after the diagnosis what was the point of actually doing the tests and assessments... although the physocologist, salt and other professionals that diagnosed massively see what I see and echo that he needs support. We've an autism meeting soon, had an adhd one about meds etc. Will see if anythings suggested at that - praying for good news for some of you guys tomorrow/rest of the week🤞🏾 x

Angiemumto4kids · 02/01/2024 07:47

Hi I just found out my daughter was declined I'm going to ring to say I want to do an mr but I can't remember what I wrote on the application my family support worker helped fill it in but I stupidly didn't make a copy I was just so tired when filling claims out as I did one for my other daughter too (she was accepted) they are both on waiting lists for asd assessment and both keep me up on a night constantly having to go resettle one or the other a deal with meltdowns ironically one of the reasons she was turned down was apparently she doesn't require any care through the night,I am sure they didn't look at the form properly as I clearly stated what help she has how long it takes etc, would I be able to ask for a copy of the application form I sent in? Any help welcome I am just so tired of having to constantly fight for everything especially for my eldest who's 12 (the one declined) and I've hardly had a full night's sleep in years 😭

April202 · 02/01/2024 07:58

HKiSm · 02/01/2024 09:12

I phoned at 9 and am currently on hold, will update on here when I have an update :)

scan date - 24/08

Mummytoviboys · 02/01/2024 09:20

I phoned at 9 for an update on a renewal claim for my 11 yr old and my little ones new claim 08/09.
I got straight through, first time ever ringing!
the lady said it was taking 17 weeks before Christmas and that’s still the case! Obviously that’s incorrect as I’ve been following these posts since November!
she didn’t mention if it was in a holding queue or anything, just that as I’m at 17 weeks on Friday that I should hear very soon?!
im not holding out hope as there are still lots of august dates yet to be awarded!

Nanto4 · 02/01/2024 09:26

@logangracie93 just rang and still with DM been there since 18th very nice chap said a lot of the DM’s had last week off which is why it could be taken the time and to ring back Friday let me know how you get on x
