@Star2386 I have applied for DLA as my son has nystagmus and optic nerve hypoplasia. He is also under 3. I'm so sorry they refused your claim! It does not give me much hope for my DS' application either 😕

Did you use the guide from the Guide Dogs website to help write your claim? They had a lot of things I didn't think of at first. You should definitely ask for a review!

Good morning,
my daughter has the scan date of 05/7/23
just hit week 16 but not getting through on the phone lines. I wanna add further evidence but trying to see if there a email I can send it through. Anyone know if there is an email? I did raise concerns over wait time not too long ago. My son got DLA many years ago and it was done in less than 12 weeks start to finish. Definitely needs to be looked at the process has become a six month process start to finish.

I sent extra evidence about 3 weeks ago and was told you had to send it through the post when I called up to ask. I sent it special delivery. Your the day before me I'm 6th July so 16 weeks tomorrow. I agree about the waiting times , I've never applied before but have been told by other people that it used to be much quicker! The wait is awful now 🤦🏻‍♀️

Lovely17 · 25/10/2023 12:23

@Leighs2gorgeousboys thank you so much. Hope yours hurries up for you, the wait is the most stressful thing about it all! Good luck to you x

Mummyrach13 · 25/10/2023 12:24

I have also asked previously and they said evidence has to be sent by post. I’ve sent a few things special delivery and they are scanned on pretty quickly once delivered as I had phoned to check.
Ive only called to check if they have received these items and each time I have been told something different so I’m not going to call again now as i feel it makes more of a disappointment x

Myl1984 · 25/10/2023 12:25

I appreciate it’s not the team fault they told me claims have double but their resources have not. Just clearly they have not enough staff to get through the claims.

Star2386 · 25/10/2023 12:35

Hi no I just put in my own writing and his vision teacher done a page on his mobility needs thanks for reply and good luck to you

There’s no email address to send additional evidence too unfortunately. You have to send a paper copy of the evidence in the post. Here’s the address to send it too. You can send it for free or send it via recorded delivery with tracking

Does anyone know the address I need to send extra evidence to? Also is it just the claim number and childs name I need to write on top of each paper? Thanks

Leighs2gorgeousboys · 25/10/2023 13:04

Thankyou Lovely, might try later, do you have any idea of when your payment is due? Xx

Asdmummyhere · 25/10/2023 13:06

I’ve posted a screenshot of the address at 12:57 today. Yep all you need is the reference number, full name. I also put DOB too

@Mumto2sengirlsxx for her dyslexia she has 1-1 for intense phonics, reading and spellings, she has an overlay, she gets longer to complete tasks, they are currently trying to get her exemptions to do timed tests. Her anxiety is terrible when is comes to english and writing. For her autism, she has a card which she uses to take herself away, she uses the disabled toilet with wet wipes for her to use, she is allowed to pick and choose what she wants to eat at lunch (issues with school dinner lady force feeding and sensory issues with food) sensory toys, she likes to fiddle a lot, her lessons are broke down into smaller chunks, she has a break down of her day so she know what she doing and when, at the end of the day she has decompression time. Her new IEP is due in November so going to try and push to get it for her MR. Honestly the meltdowns I have to deal with if she has had a bad day at school are horrible. She can only follow one instruction at a time. I need to phone back and get reasons for the decline again but just don’t have it in me to phone today 😩 x

Lollypops88 · 25/10/2023 13:25

@Nati1987 congrats congrats 👏 what was your scan date 🌈🌈🌈

The wait is so frustrating. Congratulations to those awarded.
I dont think they realise were all in need of DLA to help our little ones
I desperately want to help my littlr boy to vet him some speech therapy he's almost 4 no words other than able to count to 15, he has such bad meltdowns when not understood he's still in a buggy to be keot safe I just took him shopping and he literally threw all my shopping out the buggy into the road because he wabted something and i was unable to understand him. I just wish the wait times weren't so long so we could help our little ones 😭

🤞 I hope you get some good news! I'm so tempted to call them but I don't wanna annoy them as I only called last week to check they received my additional evidence. Computers were down then though so couldn't give me any other updates other than to say they had received what I sent.

Lollypops88 · 25/10/2023 13:41

@Sskanf i hear u hang in there HUGS its tough all our littles are in need of this money for various reasons we also have melt downs and sleep struggles its difficult to keep my daughter safe when we are out as shes non verbal and no sense of danger, and takes 2 of us to go to busy areas, ur doing the best u can just a few more weeks 🤞🤞🤞🌈🌈🌈 u have got this far ❤️❤️❤️
