I’m so sorry can you ask them to look at it again? Did you have a lot of evidence?

Mummytodo · 25/10/2023 10:13

Contact Nystagmus Network. They have someone who can advise.

Is your son registered partially sighted / sight impaired?

(Nystagmus is one of the conditions I have)

Star2386 · 25/10/2023 10:25

Thank you u yes he’s registered sight impaired the man on phone basically told me he won’t get it til he’s 3 so unfair

LGR004 · 25/10/2023 10:32

roki · 25/10/2023 10:55

hi dear. my son also has nystagmus and his turning 3 next week, so i was hopefull, now reading you, that mean they might not award me also, he also under diagnotic for autism, i will keep u inform if they also reject me, did you get helph from vision norforkl? because i do, and i had a letter frop them wich i had send with my form.

Melliee · 25/10/2023 10:57

hey
dd scan date 5/7
been told that its been passed onto the case manager then it will be allocated to the case manager to scan and give my child a reference number as she does not have a NI number, then the case manager to the dm..to then award or decline application then back to the case manager to scan and either send an award letter and back dated payments if successful…
but it works differently if a child hasn’t got a NI but also said it is taking 17-19weeks for a decision so not long now the woman told me.
hang in there and good luck to everyone!
also i was wondering if anyone else thinks they have different Dm for different diagnosis this is why some are quicker than others?

It has to be more help than a typical child. Can you compare your daughter to a friend of hers?

MummytoSENfreya · 25/10/2023 11:44

Scan date 01/06

On hold for 1hr and 15mins

We have now been awarded literally while I was on the call of HRC

I feel like a weights been lifted, thank you to everyone that has been awarded today and good luck to everyone xx

roki · 25/10/2023 11:45

ok ,i did the same, am suprised they did not award you, i have to wait and see, am shocked , because i did not even know about DLA is my son eye doctor who actualy told me he was entitled, that when he sign the certificate for him, how come the DLa is refusing to award them.

Mummyrach13 · 25/10/2023 11:46

Sorry to hear of these declines this morning really don’t know how they work it when they clearly have more needs and evidence.
Im really not feeling hopeful for our case. X

Girlmum3110 · 25/10/2023 11:46

@Lollypops88
He did tell me over the phone but it was a lot to take in. Something about her not needing interventions at school, which she does have. Her IEP was geared towards her dyslexia. She is very good at masking. She is ok in school and as soon as she is at the front gate she breaks down. She is in a school with 30 kids. Her class size is 12 kids from y3 to y6. Honestly it’s like everything has been a fight. From getting school to help to this. It’s crazy how in 24 hours it can go from in a pile to being all read by DM to a decision being made. Thank you for advice.

Mummyrach13 · 25/10/2023 11:48

Congrats @MummytoSENfreya so pleased for you! I’m glad your long wait is over x

Star2386 · 25/10/2023 11:55

Man on phone said he don’t need more supervision than a child of his age not sure how they think they know his care needs being there not parent to the child but good luck to you might be different as your child is nearly 3

Star2386 · 25/10/2023 12:01

What is your scan date

Harrydog111 · 25/10/2023 12:06

@Nati1987 I'm same scan date, I called this morning and was told not with DM yet and could be another 2-3 weeks, worth a call (I tried yesterday 4 hours on hold combined and kept disconnecting) as some have been awarded from those dates

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 25/10/2023 12:08

@Girlmum3110 what interventions are in place for their dyslexia? I got my eldest approved the start of this year for dla regarding her dyslexia and anxiety caused by it. She has a EHCP in place, all her dyslexia reports, loads of 1to1 and memory core intervention (as dyslexia can cause poor memory and my daughters is terrible) but I explained on the dla how much she melts down at home with homework so we have to put interventions in place regarding that, how she can't read signs when out etc forgets instructions etc... and head of SEN wrote a nice statement about how much she struggles daily at school and home. Are the school on your side helping and supporting you? Xx so sorry for your decline get that MR in and hopefully school can help you get approved or if they haven't already make sure they get a educational physiatrist to see your child and make a report because that helps massively too xx
