Thank you your reassuring words mean a lot xxx
Yes having more than 1 person on hand would make a difference.

Leighs2gorgeousboys · 25/10/2023 15:20

Was on hold for 1 hour 7 mins then landline died, now 45 mins in on mobile, then just received a text a few minutes ago to say my son has been awarded, may as well hold on to find out date of award so can update UC.
Sooooo relieved the wait is finally over, it's been such an anxious time, good luck to you all still waiting xx

Mummyrach13 · 25/10/2023 15:22

Brilliant @Leighs2gorgeousboys congrats! What was your scan date again?

let us know when you get through x

Keddie · 25/10/2023 15:22

@Leighs2gorgeousboys Excellent news ! What was your scan date? x

Leighs2gorgeousboys · 25/10/2023 15:23

Also is the award dated back to scan date or when you called for forms? As it says on letter will be backdated to the date you rang, but have seen people say they got how many weeks from scan date paid to them.

Leighs2gorgeousboys · 25/10/2023 15:24

My scan date 20/6
Thankyou ladies xx

Mummyrach13 · 25/10/2023 15:35

Amazing, if the forms were back before the date on the form after you called then they back date to your phone date. X

Leighs2gorgeousboys · 25/10/2023 15:41

What the hell phone was just put down after all that time😡😡😡

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 25/10/2023 16:06

@Girlmum3110 aww 😪 bless her!! Mu daughter has to use a overlay too. Ask the school what else they can put in place for her lessons, my daughter was getting really anxious and was nearly 4 years behind so now it's been made where she has to have a access to a dictaphone I think its called, where she records all sessions and then can relay it to herself when working, she has access to a laptop for any lengthy writing at school because she gets extremely overwhelmed and doesn't make sense on paper, I cried a few months ago because they started training her with a support staff to be her scribe and I was so upset that she was struggling so much she has to have someone write her answers down (takes months of training to learn the teqcher and so the teacher can learn what she means when talking as she gets jumbled) and she also has access to that scribe in Sat's and exams in the future, she should automatically be entitled for longer time in exams etc hun because she is diagnosed but I think it can be extended further if they have a care plan (which yours does and so does mine) you sound like you have more than enough information to bullet point reasons in her MR and im pretty hopeful it will get overturned for you! I'm always open to a private message If you need any help hunny! Xx

Lovely17 · 25/10/2023 16:06

@Leighs2gorgeousboys he just said be in the bank by this friday… so doesn’t take too long. UC on the other hand are the most ignorant people I’ve ever known!! Haha x

Lovely17 · 25/10/2023 16:07

@Leighs2gorgeousboys congrats on the award ❤️ x

Courtneymxo · 25/10/2023 16:24

On hold now, scan date 30/6

Harrydog111 · 25/10/2023 16:30

@Leighs2gorgeousboys that happened to me yesterday at 1 hour 46 mins, rang then disconnected. I did call back as I'd seen they answer the hold queue past 5pm, but at 5.30 bang on it disconnects and says closed

StephanieCee · 25/10/2023 16:34

Anyone know how long it takes UC to backdate carers and disability? It’s with the decision maker now but when I asked how long the woman said there’s no timescale…

4LittleFirecrackers · 25/10/2023 16:35

I rang this morning to update school info, scan date 30th June, still in a holding pile

Girlmum3110 · 25/10/2023 17:16

@Mumto2sengirlsxx I had a meeting with senco a few weeks ago which went well, she is improving slowly with interventions, still
behind tho. They are doing her new IEP for November which is hopefully going to be in-depth about interventions about her autism. It’s been a battle with school to get help
for her, the head teacher sat me down a couple of years ago and said she has seen autism and my daughter didn’t have it. Eating her words when she was officially diagnosed. I have school writing a letter and going to go in depth with the MR and hopefully her new IEP will be done for early November. It’s awful for them isn’t it, hopefully your daughters interventions work. Everything has been a fight for help and recognising, was just hoping this wouldn’t be one of the cases. Don’t think it helps that if someone isn’t clued up about autism they just go with the stereotypes people have in their head and it’s far from the truth. Thank you chick, I might do that x

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 25/10/2023 17:56

@Girlmum3110 I hope your child's interventions help and the school do the best for her I had a brilliant sen team for my daughter we were very lucky, she's progressing really well but ive still had to push at times for more intervention etc.. and I know exactly what you mean my youngest has ADHD and hypermobilty in all joints. Had her parents evening yesterday n they were saying how they are going to discipline her more because she's being lazy with work, no thought for her joints or distractions etc me and my partner are starting to consider whether the school is equipped too give her what she needs anymore. So I'm hoping dla come through for her so I ain't gotta fight that aswell but I don't hold much hope tbh xx

Marie984 · 25/10/2023 18:16

Thanks everyone, I just took some time but now today I’ve received the written reasons and wow.. sorry that this is gonna be a long post.. key points in letter:

son is 13
private diagnoses adhd
affects his ability to organise and complete tasks.. ( affects him a lot more than that so that’s rubbish)
disruptive at school but not violent or challenging to the extent he requires restraint or close supervision.. ( actually the school have told them he has to be supervised and has a TA and he’s challenging to the extent he ends up in isolation! )
No evidence of dangerous or impulsive behaviour.. ( again school advised in their report he stabs himself with compass/ needles / scissors and they class him as a risk of bolting if he had the chance)
and this is the bit that’s blew my mind
“ child is easily distracted when presented with an academic task but works well in smaller groups. He was able to complete the QB assessment. If adhd strategies are put in place, the child is likely to be more organised.”

I just feel they’ve not actually read all the evidence and to say he was able to complete the Qb .. the amount of bribing it took, he was pacing the place right up to the test and was warned he had to sit still.. it’s annoying they felt the need to say that. It’s not them who is constantly fighting to get him to go bed, keep his noise down, get up and ready for school, in 1 month I had 20 correspondence from his school about him in texts, emails, calls. He towers over me, he is prone to outbursts, thinks nothing of breaking things and yeah just absolutely stunned at their reasoning so hopefully with a MR it will get overturned 🤦🏻‍♀️ just frustrating

BoyMumGirlMum2022 · 25/10/2023 18:19

@StephanieCee, unfortunately it's just a luck of the draw with UC I believe.
I've seen a few say they've had theres in a couple of weeks but the also seen another few posts saying its taken months.
Unsure if anyone knows if there's a limit on what they back date? As seen a few posts saying carers element will only be backdated by 3 months... any truth in that does anyone know?

Leilgeo12 · 25/10/2023 18:31

Hey everyone. Scan date 22/06. I rang this afternoon and was told my son has been awarded (yesterday) MR & LM. He was diagnosed with ASD, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties and difficulties initiating and maintaining sleep. All of these were listed on one letter with very detailed explanations regarding his difficulties. This letter was provided by his paediatrician which I sent in as evidence. His claim is being backdated to the scan date 22/06.

I hope this helps some of you. Evidence is a must from what I can gather, even if you get it a little later just post it in because I do believe he would not have been awarded without me sending it in. The lady on the phone also thanked me for providing the correct evidence and for being kind on the phone. It can be very frustrating sometimes but these ladies and men are only doing their job, they don’t make the decisions.

I am currently claiming universal credit and I do receive LRWCA as I suffered a truly awful breakdown last year. Does anybody know or have any advice on what I need to do now regarding my son’s dla claim and updating UC? Thank you in advance and good luck to everyone waiting.

Leilgeo12 · 25/10/2023 18:41

LCWRA* sorry I get mixed up with it all!

I'm sure if you get LCWRA then you cannot claim carers element as you are saying you cannot work but being a carer is 35 hours a week so you need to have one or the other, either you can do 35 hours a week or aren't capable type of thing xx

Also congrats on your award 👏🙌🥳

Leilgeo12 · 25/10/2023 19:24

Thank you for your help. I thought this was the case 😊. I’ll update them xx

Thankyou so much 😊
