Received my 2nd text like minutes ago! Scan date 26/07 I have additional info coming on Monday 31st or Tuesday 01/10 with a copy of my sons ECHP and will have some type of report from paediatrician on 14/10 would anyone recommend sending all this before receiving a decision or wait and send as further info if an MR is needed?

crazytimes20 · 23/10/2023 15:06

@roki I've just received mine too. I'm also scan date 25/7.

LGR004 · 23/10/2023 15:06

@mum959 well hopefully you’ve only got another week max 2 for a decision! Fingers crossed for you!

@Asdmummyhere I sent additional paper work in on the 9th of this month and it was signed for and scanned in the system on the 10th , I can’t guarantee that there always that good with them but it’s generally a speedy process ! Hope it they receive and scan it for you promptly! X

LGR004 · 23/10/2023 15:09

@Mrsstephens04 I think it’s completely up to you! It depends on how much supporting evidence you’ve sent already as well I suppose ? You could always send one piece and keep one if it goes for MR ? X

LGR004 · 23/10/2023 15:11

@Mrsstephens04 I mean if you send more you have a better chance of not having to wait and go through another process (MR) so perhaps send the extra evidence if you get it in time ! X

Yeah I'd not thought of it like that I may just send some off and keep some back, I've sent a private SALT report and also the language therapist report from the nursery setting along with a written letter from the senco staff in the setting, my mum wrote a letter and sent a list of bullet points and explanations of each point as to how and why he is a risk to himself and others he's 3.5 but non verbal and I'm sure I survive on 8 hours sleep a week he just does not sleep, he's my 4th child out of 5 and my 2yrbold is a hell of alot more advanced in communication ect

LGR004 · 23/10/2023 15:30

@Mrsstephens04 yeah probably your best option sweet! Even though there all important documents try send off the most important that you know will benefit towards the right decision! And I understand it’s such a frustrating process but it’s worth it in the long run ! ❤️

Just received my 2nd text too. Scan date 27/7 x

Tmxx · 23/10/2023 15:57

Any got dla awarded for a baby under 1? Xx

Kyarcy1316 · 23/10/2023 16:14

You're the same date as me, I rang last Monday and was told they are working at 17.5 weeks but definitely by the end of November @Courtneymxo

Sskanf · 23/10/2023 16:17

Anyone ever applied for family fund. How long do they take to look through forms

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 23/10/2023 16:26

@Sskanf I applied for family fund start of the year took 8 weeks had a phone call assessment for it and then 2 weeks for decision so took the full 10 weeks in total x

Harrydog111 · 23/10/2023 16:30

Anonymouslyikes · 23/10/2023 14:46

Called up today told was awarded on Friday. Scan date was 21st June. So relieved :-)

Wasn't sure it would be accepted as no "other person" involved to write supporting notes / no diagnosis of anything. But did fill up all the space on form, and included an old referral form from school, plus a private assessment report.

Award was for 2 years but DC will be 16 next year so not sure if it will last that long in reality.

Congratulations! Same date as me, think I'll brave a call tomorrow

Sskanf · 23/10/2023 16:32

Thank you for replying x
I don't know if I'll get approved, my almost 4 year old is non verbal says upto 10 singular words but at random. He has a lot of meltdowns due to not being understood he has tendency to hurt himself and abyone in close proximity to him. He has sensory overload, and social communication disorder. Struggles in busy places and will meltdown screaming 4eally loudly n kicking out. He has no diagnosis as of yet. The family fund would really help towards sensory items as they are quite dear @Mumto2sengirlsxx

Mummytodo · 23/10/2023 16:42

@Sskanf I applied 2nd of September and got an answer I think last tuesday

Sskanf · 23/10/2023 16:45

Thank you for your response. I decided to apply as the DLA wait times are ridiculously lomg so thought I'd probably get a quicker response from family fund

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 23/10/2023 18:12

@Sskanf I'm sure you would qualify, I qualified for both my kids. 1 of my girls was diagnosed the youngest is still waiting for a diagnosis, they helped get a specific bed and mattress for my youngest for her hypermobility and a holiday getaway for both kids to take part in activities and work on social skills xxx

Sskanf · 23/10/2023 19:24

Ahh thank you for reassuring me. Thays wonderful you was able to get those things for your little ones it makes all the difference xx

I'm the same scan date as you and got my second text wish time would hurry up the wait is awful 😖

My 15 week mark is tomorrow 😪 I swear it's killing me! Read in the Facebook page about a woman being declined even with loads of evidence and her little one being legally blind just because he was only 6 months so no doubt my boy will get declined after this massive wait as he is only 10 months, 7 when I went off the forms!

The misunderstanding comes about when people think a diagnosis and a specific disability will automatically mean that they’ll get something. If the care needs aren’t higher of the average child of the same age then there won’t be an award given.

My DS was awarded at 11 months old. Don’t worry about the age of your little one. As long as you’ve explained how their care needs are higher and have enough evidence to support your claim, you’ll be fine🤞🏾

I’d definitely send it to strengthen your claim. You don’t have to send any additional evidence for a MR. You’d just respond to each of their points stating why you disagree and you can highlight bits of the evidence that you’ve already sent. That was poorly worded but hopefully you get what I mean!

My 11 month old got awarded earlier this year. He has a rare genetic disorder and an extremely big care team. Don’t worry about the age! Just focus on how much extra care you have to give them for whatever reason

I applied in May and received a grant in July. I didn’t have to do much other than fill in the online form. I also added my son’s DLA award when he was awarded for extra evidence. It shouldn’t take too long for you to hear back from them, it just depends where you are in the country

My daughter was awarded at 4 months, she was in hospital from birth until 4 months, when discharged a health visitor told us about dla and filled in the forms for us. My daughter had a ng tube, home oxygen and would regularly stop breathing, very medically complex. Because we had bulky equipment and needed medical attention at short notice she also had a blue badge. Good luck for your little one x
