Mrsamandac · 17/11/2022 17:15

@HettySunshine thats amazing! I’m still on hold 😣

Meli3 · 17/11/2022 17:31

@HettySunshine brilliant news. 23rd August for me hope it's not much longer. @Mrsamandac have you had a decision yet? X

Mrsamandac · 17/11/2022 17:32

@Meli3 im still on hold to find out. It says they close at 5pm but the call is still saying they’re busy not that it’s closed.

Mrsamandac · 17/11/2022 17:33

Scrap that. They just dropped my call 😞

Meli3 · 17/11/2022 17:36

@Mrsamandac it's terrible try in morning if you can xx

MissEllie2 · 17/11/2022 17:40

@HettySunshine amazing news 🥰

Mrsamandac · 17/11/2022 17:40

@Meli3 I shall try but I start work at 10am

Lostatsea10 · 17/11/2022 17:45

Hi, hope I can join- I’ve only just applied so not (yet) in the excruciating wait you all are. I just wondered if anyone knows where you send additional evidence to? I can’t find it online! T

Mrsamandac · 17/11/2022 17:47

@Lostatsea10
i believe you just send it to the same free post address the claim form went to

Lostatsea10 · 17/11/2022 17:49

Thank you! This is very overwhelming. I had the joint assessment meeting with the Ed Psych today for his EHCP assessment so feeling swamped with it today

Mrsamandac · 17/11/2022 17:51

@Lostatsea10 it’s all so overwhelming, having to deal with this stress as well as caring for differently baked children 😞 feels like some sort of cruel joke.

Mrsamandac · 17/11/2022 17:51

Differently abled not baked 🤣🤣🤣

Lostatsea10 · 17/11/2022 17:52

@Mrsamandac your well placed typo has given me a much much needed laugh today! DS is definitely differently baked 😂

Mrsamandac · 17/11/2022 17:57

@Lostatsea10 i feel that :) I do often wonder if it’s something I did while pregnant that my DS has asd and adhd.

Lostatsea10 · 17/11/2022 17:59

I wonder that too. Or his traumatic birth. Or anything really, I’d just like a reason I think, why? Then it’s all further complicated by the absolute mountains we’re expected to move single-handedly trying to get an ounce of support.

Mrsamandac · 17/11/2022 18:03

Don’t get me wrong, I’d never change him now. Not for a second.

Hes getting a lot of help from his school now, but at home it’s a different matter and I really need dla to help with the added costs of his care, having to drive all the time cos he won’t walk more than 10 steps before having a meltdown. All the food he eats after his adhd meds wear off and his appetite comes back.

Lostatsea10 · 17/11/2022 18:07

Absolutely! Like you say, I wouldn’t change him and he’s just the most incredible human but like you say the added costs for things add up- plus all the emotional elements as well. It’s a lot. Glad your DS is getting the support from school. Hope you get your award soon

bagheera92 · 17/11/2022 18:14

Hope I can join Halo how far behind are dla running at the moment ? My son has had his first renewal I sent the form back & received a letter saying they had received it October 21st. His claim is due to end January 28th.
Also sorry if this is a silly question, he currently receives high rate care could he be moved to low ?

HeathenPlayingHouse · 17/11/2022 18:20

Hello everyone, another one waiting here.

New claim for DS- scan date was 17th August, if awarded it should be backdated to 12th July. So they've had it for just over 13 weeks now, but we haven't heard anything since the "sorry it's taking so long" letter.

I'm so worried that his claim will be declined. I sent in the completed form with an extra sheet of written information, as well as the report from his paediatric assessment last year that started the ASD referral process. I had hoped to send in additional evidence but the appointment system in our area is a complete joke- they have lost forms and basically forgot about him for a year, all while telling me they would be sort things out every time I called. Seems like you have to have your own meltdowns with them to get any sort of progress!

I'm just hoping for MRC, I don't think they'd award him anything more than that. He just turned 3, so I completed the Mobility section of the form based on his unsteady gait and refusal to walk, but I don't think anything will come of that.

Honestly, just an update would be nice 😂 I may call again in the morning, fingers crossed for everyone!

Meli3 · 17/11/2022 18:28

Shouldn't be long for us all now it's 13weeks on Tuesday for me.. I have seen lots with different days been awarded I guess it's luck of the draw with who's desk it lands on. I do know they are working overtime at weekends. I'll just keep my fingers crossed for us all xx

Shellbel10 · 17/11/2022 18:30

Does anyone know if they’re working this weekend as someone said they wasn’t working last weekend

MissEllie2 · 17/11/2022 20:34

I think I read somewhere today that someone had called and the person has said they were working overtime this weekend.. not entirely sure though! I hope so, the wait as it creeps closer is unbearable 😩😩😩

Fah66 · 17/11/2022 20:44

So dla received my form on the 7 september. I got a letter two week ago saying they are still looking at my claim or something. When would i hear back. Just want a decision already. The wait time is stressing me out

Mrsamandac · 17/11/2022 21:31

@Fah66 I’m still waiting and mine was scanned on aug10th.
