@Shellbel10 www.gov.uk/mandatory-reconsideration/how-to-ask-for-mandatory-reconsideration Hopefully this helps a little x

Mumofminimes · 21/11/2022 18:58

@Meli3 Good luck with your sons, I also need to do one for my daughter but again it’s a long process with the school to get her referred she is 13 and shows signs of ADHD, has anxiety and is having counselling. She doesn’t show as obvious signs as my son (7 and quite severe traits) but apparently girls are better at masking. Several of her teachers have mentioned it to me through phone calls home, emails etc but trying to get the senco to action it seems impossible. Why do we have to fight so hard for our babies to get the help they need 🤷🏻‍♀️

Good luck to everyone else and hope you all get some good news this week x

dandymum · 21/11/2022 19:33

@Mumofminimes would your gp be able to do the referral if you have emails from the teachers? X

Mumofminimes · 21/11/2022 20:15

Hi @dandymum i went to my GP with the emails from the schools care and guidance teacher stating all my daughters issues and stating she feels she needs to be referred and assessed for ADHD but unfortunately all though he was lovely he said he was unable to as in my area it specifically needs to be done by the school to prove it is noticeable in two settings! He seemed just as frustrated by their slowness on referring her. I live in Kent x

dandymum · 21/11/2022 20:17

@Mumofminimes would your gp be willing to write a letter to the senco stating she needs to be referred asap? Then if that doesn’t work take it to the principle? X

Poniesandproseccobubbles · 21/11/2022 20:26

Yes my daughter also has anxiety but doesn’t have learning difficulties. She has huge lack of empathy so she is very inconsiderate of anyone or anything else’s feelings, which gets her into trouble a lot. She won’t eat with knife and fork, just with her bare hands. If left to dress herself then she would literally put on a bikini in the depths of winter - always something completely inappropriate and she will not understand what’s wrong with it at all. I can’t talk to another adult or on the phone when she is around as she literally won’t have it and commands my 100% attention at all times. She has massive meltdowns every 10 minutes, speaks to other adults in a terrible manner, and takes huge risks all the time so she has to be watched all the time. I put her to bed and she gets up 10-20 times per night. She’s always been like this but now that she’s older it’s very clear that it’s a bigger problem than just being a “difficult child” so to speak. Her bedroom looks like a bomb has gone off - she has completely destroyed everything in it being so destructive. She either breaks or looses every thing she is ever given within minutes of having it. She breaks so much around the house or if I turn my back she has paint out and is putting it on the carpet or furniture etc! Something you would expect from a toddler maybe but not an 11 year old as she has been told countless times how wrong it is, but it just doesn’t seem to register 🤦🏻‍♀️ however, she has no learning difficulties and is extremely forward at school! 🤷🏻‍♀️ very difficult to get any kind of help with her at all but people avoid coming to my house because of her 😩

Hi all,
Long time lurker. Sent dla form end Sept, never known dla to take so long which is how I found this thread. I'm going to ring tomorrow to check what date they recieved it but I know I'm in for the long haul this time. Hope everyone gets answers promptly.

MissEllie2 · 22/11/2022 07:33

Good luck today everyone 🤞🏼

Kelly8826 · 22/11/2022 08:05

Hi all, I have been watching for a while now.

My scan date is 17th August. It is with a decision maker who has requested more information from school. However they have not come back to him, and my daughter is now in secondary school and not primary as she was when the forms where completed.

Does anyone know how long they wait for the school to come back to them ? This is the only thing holding up my decision and when I call they are not very helpful.

Emmamorg · 22/11/2022 08:27

@Kelly8826 I'm also 17th August and still waiting I phoned last week and was told 14 weeks that's today,so gonna call later but mine wasn't withca DM last weds when I phoned it's taking so long.

I would phone the school to chance them x

Poniesandproseccobubbles · 22/11/2022 09:25

OMG I’ve just called and have been awarded HRC and LRM for 2 years for my daughter! I’m so shocked and relieved as I really had lost hope. Really didn’t have much evidence except GP referral and a witness statement. All I can say is detail detail detail! Go into as much detail as you can - describe every little problem that your child may have in as much detail as possible, and how that affects them and thier lives. That’s all I did and it seems to have done the job Good luck everyone - I hope to see more good posts from you all today x

Kelly8826 · 22/11/2022 09:29

@Emmamorg I have chased the school 3 times already and still nothing. Hopefully they will action soon. I know its the only thing holding a decision up now.

Kirsty111 · 22/11/2022 09:44

I’m so happy for you glad your daughter got what she deserves x

Gemz8 · 22/11/2022 10:07

@Poniesandproseccobubbles aww that’s brilliant news. So happy for you and your daughter! That’s what’s making me nervous because I haven’t gone into great detail at all I’ve just sent off loads of evidence so not feeling that hopeful xx

Kirsty111 · 22/11/2022 10:19

@Poniesandproseccobubbles do you know if they contacted the school as this is my worry it seems as tho he masks in school just forever in the medical room and wondering around the school x

MissEllie2 · 22/11/2022 13:24

I received a phone call in work from DWP scan date 22/08 and she said I missed a question and asked it then said she would send a text in the next 2-3 hours. 20 minutes later I received a text saying my son qualifies!!!! I’m currently on hold to see what rates x

Gemz8 · 22/11/2022 13:29

Poniesandproseccobubbles · 22/11/2022 13:54

Kirsty111 · 22/11/2022 10:19

@Poniesandproseccobubbles do you know if they contacted the school as this is my worry it seems as tho he masks in school just forever in the medical room and wondering around the school x

My daughter exactly the same - masks at school but always in medical room with headache, tummy ache etc. I get calls all the time to collect her from school and my work get thoroughly fed up with it. Tbh they didn’t say who they have or haven’t contacted. School have been fairly reluctant to believe me as she masks so much at school but literally everywhere else she has these problems and friends and family have been telling me to have her assessed for years. A few weeks ago I had a one to one meeting with her teacher in which I was able to show her video footage of my daughter having meltdowns, swearing, and generally being like she is outside of school. Teacher was shocked and has referred her to SENCO teacher and school counsellor. So if they phoned the school then I hope the school would have told them this. Only other evidence I sent was a very detailed letter from her godmother who has known her since she was born and provides childcare for her twice a week when I’m at work. It was very well written and detailed. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! X

MissEllie2 · 22/11/2022 14:03

HRC + LRM until 2026!!!! Can’t believe it!!!!

Meli3 · 22/11/2022 14:10
